HI. I have a been burning dvd's for a year or more now, and haven't had any problems until now. I use DVD Shrink 3.2 and Nero 6. All my movies have had no problems playing in the older DVD players. Now we have a HD DVD player and it doesn't recognize any of the movies. I don't want to use 2 dvd players if I don't have to.. So I'm wondering if there is something I can use to make it work on our new dvd player. Whether it's software or different DVD's to use.
Any help would be great.

DVD Rewriter: Liteon 16x DVD +-R/+-RW Drive (Dual Layer) DVD+/-R DL
DVD Shrink 3.2
Nero 6
I use DVD+R 8X or 16X 4.7gb

I would suggest that you use +R media and booktype your burns to DVD-ROM and then the movies should play on your HD DVD player.

to burn with booktype on use imgburn (free) and click on the book in the right bottom of screen and select lite-on as drive and select dvd+r media and set to dvd-rom and go to next write and change to dvd-rom. you must create an iso of the copied\original discs to use imgburn. you can download it from this site. it is made by the people who made dvd decrypter.

Thanks for the help. I downloaded imgburn and set it to my burner i have and tryed again, though it still won't play on our new dvd player. I see the DVd's i get they don't say media on them, they just say memorex DVD+R. So Do you know if the ones that say photos will work. OR are there ones that say media on them? Sorry that I'm a pain. I just normally grab what ever DVD+R's that i see only because I've never had this problem before. THanks again

try different media, memorex suck and dont play at all and many other problems. go buy some verbatims or sony/fuji dvd+rs made in japan on box only. or go online and buy taiyo yuden(best media there is).Note: sony/fuji dvd+rs made in japan are taiyo yuden but you must look for made in japan and must be +r to booktype and you must set booktype each time for next write and dvd+r media in imgburn.
also: it does not matter what is says Ex. blaank audio cd, video dvd or anything can be used for anything. I used verbatim moviereel dvds to back up the data on my hard drive and it just dont matter. memorex need to be put in a bonfire where they will burn and never haunt you again. also burn at 4X max to eliminate burning errors, never burn at max speed as that causes errors down the road especially.

Definately stay away from the memosux media. This is not good stuff and will cause you issues.

Did you infact booktype to DVD-Rom?

Here is how you do it.

http://www.k-probe.com/bitsetting-booktype-faq.php

and here:

Bit setting in DVDdecrypter will change the format of your DVD+R media to DVD-ROM which will make it more playable in standalone DVD players. Follow the following images through the sequence. (Remember to have blank media in the drive)

Click tools>drive>Change book type

Or instead of the above you could do this:

At the next window you select the drive tab that identifies your burner:

Here you select the media type that you want to book type.

Now you select the change that you want to make, in this case change to DVD-ROM

Click on the change button and you will get the success screen!

Click OK and you are good to go. Remember this will NOT work for DVD-R media.

This setting should remain in effect until you shut down your computer. I also perform this process prior to burning a backup in CloneDVD2 and it works!
