I just upgraded my Nero 7 and now my DVD Shrink is not writing to the DVD burner for DVD Shrink indicates that I need to install NERO (NERO is installed). I had no problems with NERO 6.
Would I have to install DVD Shrink again?

Have you enabled Nero as a burn option in the preferences of DVD Shrink?

I checked it and it is enabled.

<scratching head and chin at the same time>

HMMMM....enabled in both places? This is mine with Nero 7.

In the preferences above and in burn options below.

If you still can't get it enabled try to reinstall Nero...DVD Shrink was working with it before, so I would think the new Nero is the culprit.

Dude, I read in another forum that DVD Shrink is not compatible with Nero 7. Since DVD Shrink is not being updated anymore it may be time to make the big decision weather to go with Nero's Recode or stay with DVD Shrink.

There are also alot of bugs in Nero 7 that may be contributing with the compatibility issue. Stay tuned.

LocoEng, I have Nero 6 and when I "Select Backup Target" I get no choice for my DVD-RW, only "ISO Image File", "ISO Image File and Burn with DVD DeCrypter", and "Hard Disk Folder." I also have the "Enable Burning with NERO" box checked in preferences.

It just seems like DVD Shrink can't see my DVD-RW for burning purposes. Any more ideas?

jondrew, is there a guide to walk me thru this? I am somewhat of a Newbie ya know. Are you saying I should let DVD Shrink create an ISO file or create one with Decrypter? Otherwise, I have a 4 step process.

Right now, I usually do the following:

Rip with DVD Decrypter
Shrink the Video_TS file that Decrypter created, with MenuShrink
Open DVD Shrink from MenuShrink and burn to DVD-R

However, this last step won't work because DVD Shrink doesn't recognize my DVD-RW drive for some reason.

Using Imgburn will add a 4th step.

I've also used the following 2-step method often, but DVD Shrink all of a sudden isn't working with DVD43(at least on the movie Stealth):

Pop in DVD and wait for DVD43 devil to turn into a smiley face
Open with DVD Shrink and burn

Nice and simple.

Thanks for all the help you can provide.

There is a guide located in my signature block that is specifically for DVDShrink and DVDdecrypter.
Quote:
Shrink the Video_TS file that Decrypter created, with MenuShrink
Open DVD Shrink from MenuShrink and burn to DVD-R

However, this last step won't work because DVD Shrink doesn't recognize my DVD-RW drive for some reason.
DVDShrink is not a burner so if you have ripped with DVDdecrypter to the hard drive DVDshrink will not need to recognize the DVD-RW. Only needs to locate the ripped file and create the ISO for DVDdecrypter to burn to the disc.

I am not familiar with the program MenuShrink, but if you have DVDdecrypter, DVDShrink you would not require this step.

Use the guide in my sig as suggested.

Cheers.

Something to add on. If Nero 6 is working fine why change to Nero 7?
That's why some people always want the latest when the current is still the best. Do be careful though when you upgrade your firmware or flash your Bios. This is not something you can try & then uninstall later on. You only change when you face problems.

To all that commented on DVD Shrink and Nero 7 not working together take a look at my second post, I am using Nero 7 and it works perfectly on my machine. I don't normally use Nero but have been using it more lately. If you are having problems with Nero and DVD Shrink try another burning program such as DVD Decrypter or Imgburn, both are excellent burners.

Sounds like reinstalling DVD Shrink might make it find Nero 7. I hope so. I have Nero 7 but haven't installed it yet. Has anyone tried leaving Nero 6 installed and installing Nero 7 also????

How many Murphy's Laws are there for me to run into anyway?
