Is shrink supposed to be using up all my cpu (around 80%)...I think it is causing my computer to analyze the dvd at an ultra slow rate...I have checked the dma/pio config, uninstalled and reinstalled, running anydvd in the background, etc....PLEASE HELP, this is painful to watch!!!!!

Yes, shrink is very CPU intensive and will suck your system resources to a crawl. Shut down everything that you can do without while doing your backups. Turn off the antivirus, spyware blocker, popup blocker, and don't do anything while it running. Go watch tv or something and let it do its think.
You can always add RAM to help things go smoothly.

Dvd shrink uses 95-100% of my processor.80% is nothing,LOL
Anydvd is a background ripper. It's only needed when DVD Shrink can't rip a newer encryption by itself.I leave mine shut off until I run into the problem.
It's just one of many background programs that I turn off.

If you haven't noticed it,in DVD Shrink when you click the backup tab: double check the backup options-quality tab. Mainly perform deep analysis and adaptive error compensation enhancements. If those boxes are ticked, they will definitely slow you down and give you the very slow analyzing and encoding screens. They do help with the quality of highly compressed dvds.
To speed it up: Re-author main movie only/AC3 5.1 CH English sound stream only and untick the rest.Huge time difference between full disc and reauthor.

Ya know saugmon, I hadn't thought about that. I should turn it back off after encryptions have been broken and shrink has started. I will try that on my next backup.
?When you gonna set up your profile?

Also in your options, see if you have "run in low priority mode" unchecked. I think if thats checked, it will add time to the process.

in the DVD Shrink main window go to Edit and then preferences, on the bottom of the screen that comes up, tick the run analysis..blah...blah (check that box), then go to the File I/O tab and click the first checkbox...
this should fix it...
