Sabledown, be patient. I was hoping that Alkohol would drop back in and we could pick brains together.

I don't know why you would have to convert a DVD RW drive to a ntfs. It should just recognize the media.

Did you check to see if your firmware was up to date?

What is the make and firmware version of your drive. You can tell if you open DVDdecrypter in Mode Write ISO. It will tell you the drive and firmware version in the upper right pane. See below image of mine:

Post back with your drive and firmware version.

Cheers.

Had a look on decrypter mode as you suggested and got this:

HP DVD Writer 640b E152 (ATA)
Current Profile: DVD-ROM

I did look up that site but could not find a version for 640b?

Hey ruger,
I haven?t done any of this stuff since my days with a 5 1/4? Floppy but here?s some input that may trigger one of the great minds into action?

Quote:
W 13:07:18 Drive D:\ (FAT32) does not support single files > 4 GB

Drive D: is the burner.. How did it get set for FAT32?
FAT32 only handles files less than 4GB.

This is an ISO file that is:

Quote:
I 13:07:18 Source File Size: 4,509,450,240 bytes

Much larger..

Shrink has the ability to break up files into 1GB chunks,, But then you couldn?t burn with Decrypter. Would have to use Nero or whatever.

That would only treat the symptoms and not be a cure but think on it Guys?.

There?s too many YoungGeeks out there to let this stump all of them??? ;-p

By the way, the Firmware looks up-to-date, as far as I can tell...

@Sabeldown

So what is your hard drive then? Is it C? Since you said D is your your dvd burner drive, so what is your main hard drive? If C is your main hard drive, then do the following:

1. Open Command Prompt. Click Start, point to All Programs, point to Accessories, and then click Command Prompt.

2. In the command prompt window, type the following: convert C: /fs:ntfs

Let it runs, and after a while your C: drive or hard drive will be NTFS now.

@9mm

As far as I know if you have a FAT32 system, then DVD Decrypter will NOT support any movie that's over 4GB, therefore DVD Decrypter is giving Sabel this message: W 13:07:18 Drive D:\ (FAT32) does not support single files > 4 GB

I didn't make it clear because I thought that "D" is Sabeldown's main hard drive. My mistake, but again, Sabel still need to convert from FAT32 to NTFS in order for him/her to have a success in the future when using DVD Decrypter.

Now, it seems like Sabeldown is trying to write/burn into her/his HP dvd burner, which is E: drive.
And the "source" is from: I 13:07:18 Source File: C:\DVD WORK\DIRTY DANCING\DVD.ISO -- so this make it a C: drive (this probably is the hard drive), and it needs to "convert" to NTFS.

But why is the error here: W 13:07:18 Drive D:\ (FAT32) does not support single files > 4 GB -- therefore, I was confused earlier. Now, either C or D or both needs to convert into NTFS for better ripping and burning when using DVD Decrypter.

Good luck!!!

@ Sabeldown,
Don?t give up gal, bear with us??..

Go to: Start -> My Computer then right click on the C: drive icon then -> properties
What does it show under File System: ??

If it says anything except NTFS then proceed:

Go to Start -> All programs -> Accessories -> Control prompt and type in: C: /fs:ntfs

Set back and let it do it?s thing??.

Post back what the outcome is and we?ll go from there?..

Hang in there, you?ll burn a disk?.
Just bear with us. It's very difficult working from this end, when you can't see what's going on...

@2oldGeek

This is what I told her to do/convert already, at command promp, type: convert C: /fs:ntfs and hit Enter to run.

And she's still having problem with the D:\ (FAT32) does not support single files > 4GB?? Something is not right here.

Does she have 2 hard drives that's FAT32 (C & D)? ie one internal & external? Because I know that her burner is HP from E: drive, according to her log here: I 13:07:18 Destination Device: [0:0:0] HP DVD Writer 640b E152 (E:) (ATA)

@Sabledown (lady)

After reading through this again and again trying to isolate what is transpiring I am wondering if the answer is as simple and making sure that the destination drive for Mode Write ISO is your E: drive.

See the image below.

Open up DVDdecrypter, go to Mode>Write ISO and then as indicated in the image above set your destination as E: which sould be your DVD writer drive. Put in some blank media and click burn. Make sure of course that you have the appropriate ISO file selected from your hard drive.

Post back.

if running win xp-----
Go to the star menu------then to my computer------click on it----
You will see some things lik Local disk (c:)
3 1/2 Floppy (a:)
Ceasar3 (d:)
the C: is considered my hard drive, some people have more than 1
A: and D: are floppy drives
A: is a 3 1/2 drive for discs While
D: is my CD ROM drive, BUT it has a cd in it otherwise it would say cd-rom (d:)

I have an idea lightbulb flickers brightly

Go to the following link and download gadwin printscreen 3.1 and install it. http://www.gadwin.com/products.htm?prnscr

Next go to http://www.imageshack.us and set up a free account.

Now use the gadwin print screen to capture the image of your drives and upload the image to imageshack. Save the image in gadwin as a .png image. Both of these programs are free and will assist you not only here but more than likely in other areas as well.

Once you have uploaded the image you copy and paste the direct link into this forum reply message box, between image link boxes (see above reply message box for example)

If you have questions post back.

That is how I put up my images. (Locoeng showed me...credit where credit is due :)

OK....Small SUCESS! Somehow I managed to write 'Dirty Danncing' to DVDR.
Now both my D drive & C drive say File System: NTFS (before only C drive did)
This allowed me to copy 'Dirty Dnacing.
I then went on to copy Jimmy Barnes music DVD and the decrypter log came up with:

Very Poor Media---- Please try some better Discs before you give up completely.. For the time try burning at 2x and see if it's a go.

edit: Try to get disc like Taiyo Yuden, Verbatim, TDK, Maxell.....
