Newbie with DVD shrink error message

I hope you guys aren't sick of helping newbies!! I have been recording some tv shows with my Directv recorder. I then transfer them on DVD-RW disk on my JVC DVD recorder. I then load these MPEG-2 files onto my computer and use MPEG-VCR to edit out commercials. It works very well because it is frame-specific. I tried to import these files using DVD shrink and I get the following message: "DVD shrink encontered an error and cannot continue. Failed to open file C:\DVD video file\video_TS.IFO." What am I doing wrong and how can I fix it? Manny Manny thanks.

did you go to OPEN---->Open DISC IMAGE---->Open the file then it gave you the error message?? edited by ddp

No I didnt! I first went to OPEN FILE. thanks for responding. I wanted to import video files already stored in a video folder on my hard drive. I was told by DVD Shrink it couldn't find the files.

Maybe there is something wrong inside Video_TS.IFO folder? Possibly a bad or corrupted file by chance? Video_TS.IFO is a sub-folder inside VIDEO_TS folder.

Welcome to the forum. Sounds like the .ifo is corrupt. Suggest you try AVI2DVD before you using Shrink to make sure the data is DVD-Compliant and then use Shrink on those files. If that fails then the .ifo is usually corrupt and you will have to edit it to correct it. Below is the free program you can use. You might also have to use IFOEdit but try the other program first

Thank you for your repoies. I will try ANY12DVD. Will post my results as soon as possible. DVD Shrink works fine when I use it in BACKUP mode. Thanks again.
