Hi all,
I have Nero express 6 on my computer (came with burner), it told me there was an update for the nero prg., the update as per the website said it contained Nero recode, so i downloadd and installed the update. Well, there is no Nero recode? is it called something else? It don't appear to be anywhere in the menu, i even did a search within itself, and 'nothing', can anyone help me with this? wanted to try Nero recode over dvd shrink, so i can see for myself the advantage if any. Can Nero recode be downloaded on its own?
Tks for any help,

The update to Nero Recode 2 is contained in 'update-package 2'. Follow the link provided, download and install update-package 2 version 3.1.0.21, and no you can't just download an update to nero recode only.
I also recommend you do the same for package 1, remember to uncheck the yahoo tool bar option, you don't need that junk.

Dana,
I also have nero 6.6, so let me explain what I do to access nero recode. I click on the 'nero smart start' icon on the desktop to start nero, this will cause the nero smart start splash screen to appear. Here I can now choose the application I wish to use, I access nero recode by clicking on the applications tab(top tab) on the left side of the splash screen to display a list, find nero recode on the list, and click on it to use it. You should be able to do the same, if not explain what you have/see.
Make sure to reboot the pc after the install.
If your still having a problem, uninstall nero (use the add/remove programs method) download all the update packages and reinstall them one at a time. Reboot when asked.

Judging from the picture, your version of nero is an SE(standard edition)or a basic version which I believe does not include Nero Recode, sorry. Was this version of nero included with the purchase of a DVD burner?
You'll have to upgrage to Version 6.6 ultra edition or the new 7.0 ultra edition to get nero recode.

Nero Recode is more than likely in the package you downloaded, but the OEM version doesn't contain the KEY CODE required to activate that part of the program. You can buy (Nero Digital Pro) as an add on to your OEM version, and that will give you the Key Code to unlock the Recode 2 programs and a few extra utilities as well.
I've been using Recode 2 for a few months now, and it is a great program - well worth the money. I would not advise you to upgrade to Nero 7 yet though. I have it, and it caused me worlds of grief on one of my systems. Kept locking up and running a blue screen. I am still trying to de-bug that system. On my other system it worked fine right from the start. There ARE program conflicts that need to be addressed in Nero 7 and it would be best let it go until they get the final version ready.
