Shrink is not a burning engine. You set your burn speed in what ever you are burning with before hand DDD,Nero,or whatever. Hope this helps

kgturner,
The error code you got was due to either a bad .ifo or you encountered ArCoss Encryption. Since you are now trying DVDDecrypter it might fail but maybe not( depends on the movie). You can try AnyDVD ( works w/ Shrink) or either DVDFAB Decrypter( rips to HD) to circumvent that encryption. What movie are you trying to copy?

kgturner,
You should be able to handle those movies with DVDShrink, only.
What exactly is happening. Any error messages? If so what are they?

dvd shrink was not allowing me to open discs or files. i just downloaded dvdfab and now i am able to open the file. however, in the burn options, i am only able to select maximum / 1x burn speed. the error message i was previously receiving was "invalid dvd navigation structure". i appreciate the help.

That error message means Sony protection that Shrink cannot get by.
Download AnyDVD (free 21 day trial) or DVD43 (free) then run just one of those 2 programs in the background with DVDShrink and do a re-author and copy Movie Only and it will work.
If you want the Whole movie extras, etc. then you will have to use DVDDecrypter first and then use VobBlanker on it.
Alkohol has got some very good Guides out on the New Movies, here on AD.

If you are setting Shrink to Burn using Nero, before burning go to the Burn settings Tab and set the burn speed..
Edit: Or paste a Nero burn log here so we can see the promlem, maybe.
Just remember to edit your Nero serial number out...

i do go to the burn settings. the only options listed now are max, 1x, 2x, and 2.4x. previously, it was only max and 1x. now 2x and 2.4x have appeared. i previously had up to 16x as options. i had it set at 4x. i guess i'm gonna have to burn at 2.4x from now on until i get either figure out the problem or 4x magically reappears.

running AnyDVD and shrink i couldn't open the disk or the dvdfab encoded files. running DVD43 and shrink had the same effect. i'll try alkohols method using vobblanker tomorrow. i don't understand as teenage mutant ninja turtles isn't a newly released dvd as far as i know. i should be buying some more dvd's soon so once i get them, i'll back them up. tell me how to post my Nero burn log and i'll do so as i've never had this much trouble at all.

Try this:
Open DVDDecrypter and goto Tools -> Drive -> Check For Firmware Update
Your Drive Firmware may need updating. Maybe it?s not able to read the Disc your are using.
By the way what is your Media? As could be a problem also?.

This may not fix your problem, but put the blank disc in before running Nero or shrink. Without a disc in there Nero has the lower speed settings. I will try to post a image of this.
Here is what you get if you start a burn with no disc in the drive:
and this is what it looks like when you put a disc in the drive:
That is my guess as to why you can only get 1x. If not putting the disc in first was not the reason, oh well, i tried..

thanks. i'll have the check that to see when i get home from work. i don't recall if i had a disc in the drive or not now that you mention it. i know when i backed up "grizzly man" i did have a disc in the drive and it would only allow me to select 1x.
