Thax Shoey!
But I'm not interested in burning UT2003. My friend will burn me C&C-Generals. He has got one. And about UT2003, I don't want to hassle any more and I don't have much time on games. I'm not really a big fan of all these games.I just used to play Quake3 and I wanted to find something similar. But anyway I changed my mind because of all the other stuff I need to do and just enjoy playing demo sometimes.
But anyway thank you very much, if I will have any other questions, I will definitely use your forum.
Bye!

You might rate your burner yourself, with a very simple test:
http://clone.cd/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=6
But you should be able to backup SD 2.8 in all ways. The real difference between being able to make either a 'perfect' backup (which do not need emulation) or a 'working' backup (which needs emulation).

Hey, I think I'm having the same (kinda!?) problem.
I downloaded both Generals disks from the Net in ISO format, and I am having problems trying to get them to install.
I've tried 2 things.
1st. I've used ISObuster to extract the files to 2 folders, CD1 and CD2, but get error messages when trying to run setup.exe or autorun.exe. I also tried with both CD's in same folder. No joy!!!
Secondly, I used Nero 5.5 to burn image to 2 seperate CD's and install from there, as a friend suggested, but still no luck.
This is 1.5 Gig of download which I do not want to waste. The fact that it does not even begin to install is the most frustrating part!!!
Any tips/suggestions would be very much appreciated!!!

Hi I read the thread you posted about the 1335 error during installations. I was wondering if you have found
any solution for that error. I have tried every work around possible with no luck. I have tried the copying to
a flat folder also de maxmem in msconfig with no solution.
Until know the only thing i have noticed consistently is that is a problem with windows XP with computers with
over 512 MB in RAM ....... I am not sure if its only with DDR 333 or if there is any other issue.
Can you dish some light on me if you have any more info plz. It would be greatly appreciated
I have tried every solution posted on the internet with no luck, can you provide something different!!! Please
Bye

biggaboss,
Backing up C&C Generals has nothing to do with memory or any windows o\s. It's the Safedisc 2.8.x that is causing havoc m8. Follow the guide to the link I previously posted and use Alcohol 120 to backup to hard disc. If you need emulation, go with Daemon Tools as many games are on both the CloneCD (hide cd-r} and Alcohol's 120 emulation options "blacklists". This news I just recently discovered at other forums I visit (CD-Freaks).
Daemon Tools:http://www.daemon-tools.com/Frames/mainlowmid.htm Use the Safedisc& Laserlock emulation (if needed) to play your backup of C&C Generals (cd 1) if needed.

Hi Shoey,
The problem I got is not backing up the game is installing the game. Also have the same problem installin Microsoft Money 2003, Aquaknox, Generals, and some more software.
This wont let me install softwares with cab files that are considerably large, (100MB or above).
I am completely clueless on what the problem might be, so I am seeking for your help or any one on this forum.
Plz if its possible.
Thank you

This is the last I have found about the problem:
Problem: ?Error 1335 The cabinet file Data.cab required for this install is corrupt.?
Cause: A bug in Microsoft Windows XP and the Microsoft Windows Installer Service.
Any idea on how to correct this? Full OS re-installation?? A windows XP Repair? Is there any way i can install the MWIS??
Thank you.

I 've had that problem before here are 3 sugestions:
1) Restart ur box and try it again if fails again
2) Up date ur system that should clear that error (just open Internet Explorer and click the Tools tab then click "Windows Update". if fails
3) Backup ur files and Reinstall windows and its a lot better if u format ur hard drive during the Reinstalation process. BUT make sure u have all ur drivers.
By the way it has nothing to do with memory

I have tried EVERYTHING in relation to installing c&c and dleta force bhd with alcohol 120. I am over wasting cd's so I have begun just mounting the image and trying to select various options (along with shoeys excellent advise) and run the installer that way, will that affect the way safedisk is read from the cd? Is there more updates in relation to alcohol and c&c? Thanx guys if I come up with anything ill let ya know :@

Eckostorm,
Are you trying to backup the "original" cd's or internet downloads?> (iso, bin& cue)? What brand name burner do you own?
Thank you for your respect and for all others (members) too, I deeply appreciate!

I've tried making an image file for CD 1 of C&C Generals using Alcohol 120% and DiskDump. I've also tried using both of my cd drives for reading, a Samsung CD-ROM SC-148C and a HP DVD Writer 100j, which is also a CD-R/RW burner. However, every time during the image making process, I get an extreme amount of disc read errors(Alcohol 120%), or errors(DiskDump). I had it set to Safe Disk 2 datatype before I started the image making/dump, so it skipped all the errors, but still reported them in the log. Alcohol 120% went full speed, with the HP, 12x, but DiskDump was taking forever because it slowed down everytime it received an error. After Alcohol 120% finished, I used it to burn the image to a CD-R. It burned fine, however I couldn't install from it. Any help would be nice.

Neef,
It is common to get "read errors" when reading Safedisc (bad sectors) so ignore them. Now that you read the image with your Samsung, burn the image using the Safedisc 2 datatype profile and play the backup in your Samsung drive. Be sure NOT to uninstall Alcohol 120 while playing Safedisc 2.8.x backups and be sure "autorun" is enabled on your o\s m8. If for some reason the backup fails to play in your Samsung (it won't I assure you), then play in your HP with emulation options ticked "ignore media type& bad sectors".

Run Alcohol 120 in system tray with emulation options ticked "ignore media type& bad sectors". You only have the Philips burner, no dvd\cd-rom?

Did you read the image of C&C Generals (CD 1) with your dvd-rom? The backup should play in your dvd-rom as long as you used Safedisc 2 datatype profile to read and burn the image m8.
My backup of C&C Generals play on my Lite-On LTD 165H, Toshiba SD-M1502, and a generic Samsung 52x cd-rom.

Hey Shoey, thanks for the help. I'll be sure to try that. I did make one copy of CD 1 using the image making/burning method from Alcohol, but when I burned it, I tried exploring the cd to execute the install prog intead of doing Autorun and it froze my computer and I had to ctrl-alt-delete it to get it back to XP. After which I hastily restarted. :) But I'll try reading/dumping using the Samsung, burning with the HP, then playing on the Samsung. Thanks again!

Autorun needs to be enabled on your o\s or your backup will most likely not install\play. Don't manually install the game= won't work.
