Yeah two movies on one disc...but be able to select which movie from the start n not have to fast forward through the first one each time.

you can but instead of fast forwarding you just click on the next chapter button on your remote and it will go to the 2nd movie.

How well do you know shrink?
Basically for 2 dvd movies to one disc.

1. you need to put the disc in your drive.
2.explore the disc
3.copy and paste the video_ts/audio_ts folders to your hard drive
4.rename the folder that you deposited these files into as the name of the movie.

repeat the process for your 2nd movie

Once you have done this and have the 2 movies on your hard drive then open shrink and select the re author mode.

Locate where the 1st movie is and double click the movie portion.Do the same for the 2nd movie. You will have 2 files one under neath each other on the left hand side window of shrink if you have done it correctly.

Now select backup and follow all the prompts, shortlt there after you will have 2 movies on 1 disc with out menus.

Now i would suggest if you wanted to add menus, check out TMPGEnc dvd author.......but thats another story altogether.

See if this works, got to go to work....be back later

I've got a question that I feel dumb for asking.

I have a football game on two dvd5's and I wanted to combine them onto one DVD9. The movie is a total of 7.7 gigs so thats not the problem.

I use Nero Recode 2 and I merged the 2 titles with no trouble. I burned it right away with Nero Burning Rom like I do with most of my back ups. I didnt have any problems there.

I even played the dvd on the computer to make sure it wasnt a coaster.

The problem I have is that it doesnt play on any of my dvd players. It shows 2 titles on my dvd player, but it doesnt play. I have no idea what to think.

I use the following:

Verbatim DVD+R DL (Dual Layer DVDs do work in my dvd player)
DVD Player - Panasonic DMR-E85HS

Computer:
Gateway 7400 series
Mobile AMD Athlon 64
Processor 3400+
2.20 GHz, 1.00 GB of RAM

I dont know what else to provide, and I didn't know where else to post. I have been searching afterdawn all night and this is my last stop. I will check back tomorrow for any help I get.

Thanks for any and all help........

@abcdvd123 -

i think you're saying the merged disc plays on the PC, but i guess it would be worth us having a look at your Nero log. Not sure where recode's log is but the accompanying burn entry for Nero Burning Rom is in c:\program files\ahead\nero\nerohistory.log but DO NOT post your serial number which usually begins with '1A21' or similar.

Is the video that you burned NTSC or PAL? I had the same problem and found out that the video file that I burned was PAL and my dvd players are all NTSC. That may be why the dvd works in the computer but not on the tv. Sounds stupid but it was driving me crazy till I checked the files framerate. I converted the file to NTSC with "VSO DivxtoDvd", burned it and works like a charm in all my dvd players including the ps2.

The process I used:

(1). I used DVD Shrink to get both movies onto my PC Harddrive
(2). I used Nero Recode 2 to merge two dvds into one.
* Both videos say NSTC under the "Info" tab
* I checked all options and nothing out of the ordinary
* I did Advanced Analysis & High Quality Mode
(3). Burned the completed projected with Nero Burning ROM.

I had to do this with 'GoodFellas' since there is a A, and B side to this movie I just rip both sides to my Hd using DVD Decrypter , then I used DVD Shrink (Re-author), yes it has a blank screen for about two seconds like stated before, but it works...

Well I have also tried to do it with DVD Shrink, but that didnt work either.

I have the football game divided by 1st half Disc 1, and 2nd half Disc 2.

When I am done combining with Shrink; the DVD9 plays the second half fist, and when I get to the end I expect it to start playing the first half, but it doesnt.

Either way its all wrong because its out of order (and yes they were in order when I put them in shrink)and only half of the game is on the DVD.........but the strange thing here is that it plays pefect on my computer again......just like the Nero Recode 2 version I made.

@ abcdvd123.......i got this from a pm from my buddy andmerr to lend a helping hand !!

to turn the dma settings on, try this !!!

To enable DMA mode using the Device Manager

1.

Open Device Manager.

2.

Double-click IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers to display the list of controllers and channels.

3.

Right-click the icon for the channel to which the device is connected, select Properties, and then click the Advanced Settings tab.

4.

In the Current Transfer Mode drop-down box, select DMA if Available if the current setting is "PIO Only."
If the drop-down box already shows "DMA if Available" but the current transfer mode is PIO, then the user must toggle the settings. That is:
?

Change the selection from "DMA if available" to PIO only, and click OK.
?

Then repeat the steps above to change the selection to DMA if Available.

you also need to get rid of InCd... its a packet file writing program that does nothing but create problems.
use nero's clean tool to do so !! and double check it too.
update Nero as told, and try it again !!

I wanted to make sure that this was right:

Primary IDE:
Device 0
Device type.................Auto Detection(grayed out)
Transfer mode...............DMA if Available
Current Transfer Mode.......Ultra DMA Mode 5

Device 1
Device type.................Auto Detection
Transfer mode...............DMA if Available
Current Transfer Mode.......Not Applicable(cannot change this)

Secondary IDE:
Device 0
Device type.................Auto Detection(grayed out)
Transfer mode...............DMA if Available
Current Transfer Mode.......Ultra DMA Mode 2

Device 1
Device type.................Auto Detection
Transfer mode...............DMA if Available
Current Transfer Mode.......Not Applicable(cannot change this)

This is what my set-up looked like, so my guess is that I didnt need to change anything. Right or wrong? Let me know....Thanks!!

yes, you always want DMA if available, if its not, it will default to PIO.. which can sometimes give issues with Nero, but more so in burning.
when you burn, you will not know if the setting changed unless you read the error log Nero generates...

did you get it fixed yet? did you burn?

Well I didnt have to fix anything becuase it was already set........but I am burning right now. My guess is that it will be another coaster, or at least workable on the PC.....woo-hoo :|

coaster huh ?
your burning while surfing............?
not good combo's... no multi-tasking while ripping, encoding, burning..
these are extra measures you take to avoid coasters !

Yeah, but I have never had any problems until I started this merging stuff. The first 2 or 3 times I did this, I left my labtop alone on the table, and I went to my PS2. So, I guess its hopless for me huh?

you know, going back farther up on your post, are these games your trying to burn just recorded shows or actual movies?
why not just use Nero vision instead?
