That is the message that came up with Cinderella Man. I use AnyDVD and Shrink, then Decrypter to burn. I have never had a problem with any disc. Can someone help me with this message?

Thanks much.

This same thing happened to me when I tried to copy Lords of Dogtown. There are other combinations of software to use, but none have worked for me so far.

try using CloneDVD with any dvd running in the back ground. Both these movies worked for me doing it that way. You can get CloneDVD from www.SlySoft.com

I got the same error trying to back up American Pie Band Camp. I had to download a trial of CloneDVD2 to get it to work. It looks like alot of people are starting to have this problem. Hopefully AnyDVD will have a fix soon.

The newest ver. of AnyDVD is 5.7.2.1. Download it here:
http://www.slysoft.com/en/

Just got it today and worked with Bros Grimm just using anydvd/dvdshrink/nero or decrypter to burn.

I was able to burn a backup of Cinderella Man using DVDD and then Shrink, but the disc will only play in my computer. Two stand alone DVD players will not play the disc.

What can I do to burn a copy that will play on a standalone player????

@raggedy1

First make sure that your stand alone players will play the media format that you are using. You can check your player at this website:

http://www.videohelp.com/dvdplayers

This will tell you the type of DVD media you should be using. Another thing that you can do to improve playability is to Booktype your DVD+ media to DVD-ROM which will make them playable on virtually all players. This is what I do. Here is a thread that explains what this is and how to do it.

http://forum.digital-digest.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=46559

http://www.k-probe.com/bitsetting-booktype-faq.php

This will help you to get your backups to play properly.

I hope that this helps you.

Cheers.

I think I have cracked the problem as I tried to backup Half Baked, Bruce Almighty and Hulk today. All of which brought about this error. I replied to a similar thread complaining of the same error with the latest versions of AnyDVD (The 5.7.1,2 and 3.1 series that were all released within a few days of each other, the first two being REALLY close) and 40 Year Old Virgin.

Well Cinderella Man, American Pie Band Camp, Hulk, Bruce Almighty, Half Baked AND 40 Year Old Virgin are all Universal Studios DVD's. Now I have backed up clost to 200 DVD's before this latest version of AnyDVD and have used it for the majority of them but I find it VERY hard to believe that it is ANYTHING OTHER THAN the latest version of AnyDVD seeing as before the new release I expierienced no problems with 23 other Universal titles.

With the latest version it appears that AnyDVD -->ADDS<-- encryption to the discs by accident (possible a mistyped key in the source code or something) seeing as I NEVER have seen this before.

RCE protection not found.
DVD structure appears to be correct.
------>>>>>>Found & removed invalid VOBUs!<<<<<---------
Found & removed Autorun from Video DVD!
Bad sector protection not found.
Emulating RPC-2 drive with region 1!

So if someone with a version of AnyDVD pre-5.7.?.1 can verify my theory by putting an older (we'll say before 2002) and a newer (released within the past few months, 40 year old virgin is a good one) Universal Studios title in their DVD drive and see if AnyDVD says that about finding and removing invalid VOBU's, it would be much appreaciated as I think I am on to something.

Since I always seem to ask questions I will just put this into here to help everyone that helps me out....

thanks ruger.
my standalone players have always been able to play the media in the past. one of the machines won't "boot up" the Cinderella Man disc at all and the other one boots up one screen and freezes there (it froze on the "opinions not expressed" or whatever screen).

I used a Memorex DL disc. Could it be the disc? I have Verbatim discs, but only a few left and I'd hate to waste another Verbatim disc if the problem is something else. After doing a search on this movie it looks like a lot of people are having problems backing up this movie.

@raggedy1,
"I used a Memorex DL disc. Could it be the disc?"

Memorex is probably the worst quality media you can get. I would stay away from it at all costs! Verbaitm's are a really good quality media.

How did you rollback? I would love to do that til they fix this error/mistake. Can you confirm the information? When you place the DVD in the drive on 5.6.3.1 does it still say:

Found & removed invalid VOBUs!

or does it say:

Structural copy protection not found.

To rollback, just uninstall AndDVD and then install an earlier version.

40-Year Old Virgin was not a problem for me with the old AnyDVD and current Shrink. I was finally able to work with Clone DVD trial and Shrink to take care of Cinderella Man. I would hope Slysoft isn't forcing a purchase of another piece of their software just to be able to work with AnyDVD. While Clone DVD worked, I prefer the way AnyDVD, Shrink and Decrpyter coexist.

Thanks for sustaining the thread.

Exactly what I thought, when I put Hulk in I get the line that it had to remove VOBU's. The newest version of AnyDVD seems to be PUTTING copy protection onto Universal discs we are trying to burn. It must be some improper coding seeing as how 5.6 series had no problems with them.

I had sent a support ticket to them and they replied within a day or so and told me to try copying to hard drive and going from there. No real answer as to what was wrong.

So I grabbed up a few more DVD's and looked for more of the same error, that is when I came to the conclusion that it was a problem with Universal Studios DVD's.

I just sent all the information we came up with to them via another ticket and hopefully they will be able to use my theory to speed up the next upgrade and fix the problem.
