Basically, just rip using DVDDecrypter in the ISO read mode to a folder then open the .ISO file with Shrink using the File -> Open Disc Image method, not Open Disk or Open File.
Then just handle like you normally do when using Shrink and either burn with decrypter or Nero whatever your preference be?..

question:

oldgeek, I followed your directions. i'm trying to rip Serenity, a DL disc. I put the ISO files into their own folder.
When I open the image using Shrink I see the movie. My question is what happens to the second file, the MDS file???

won't i need this file for the movie to play correctly? i plan on ripping the entire movie onto a DL disc.

Raggedy1,
The .MDS file contains the layer break information and is what Decrypter uses to write the DL Disc. You won?t need Shrink for a DL.

Just open Decrypter go to Mode -> ISO and select Write W. Then in Source browse the .MDS file, in Destination select the drive that contains the blank disc, set the burn speed in the bottom right box under settings and burn away..

I usually just delete the MDS file. Have never had a problem yet.

i'm burning it now. DVDD actually forced me to write the mds file. so when it's done I don't know what to do - unless DVDD gives me instructions like it did when it forced me to write the mds file!

@ SlaTheR,
The only time that would run into a problem is when backing up a double layer disc..
Because that is the info file that tells DVDDecrypter where to put the layer break?.

If your Shrinking the file to fit a DVD-5 then you don?t need it and it?s OK to delete?..

@Raggedy

Choose the MDS to burn from first, just forget about the ISO file. When DVDD is finished you'll have yourself a 1:1 copy.

@raggedy1,
Are you burning a DL disc? If so DVDD doesn?t burn the MDS file, it just uses it to burn the ISO file in all the right places?

2oldgeek said it better. If you notice the MDS file is not the movie, it can't be its only 5Kb, it is just a set of instructions that tells DVDD how to burn the movie.

I'll let you know how it turns out.
my first attempt to rip this movie with Shrink (only) resulted in a DL coaster...

@LOCOENG,
Have you tried Ripping the new RipGuard movies with Decrypter in the ISO mode, then Shrink and burn, without AnyDVD or other help?
It works because Decrypter in the ISO Mode does a bit for bit copy and corrects the bad sectors, etc.
Lightning UK still lives?.

Havent tried it yet, but I'll give it a shot...I read up on your research earlier in the thread. I usually just rip in File mode with AnyDVD running.

When I found that little honey I just thought it would be great for a newbie to use only Free software and not be trying to defeat the 21 day rule on AnyDVD.. LOL

ok, so it looks good so far. i'm checking/playing the disc now. BTW, can someone send me the .exe file for DVDD? I have it on my current computer but it seems like a good idea to have a backup copy, and i didn't keep the .exe file.

i don't think i'm supposed to post my email address, right? i can send it to someone thru PM if that will work...

ok, so Serenity can't play on one of my standalone players. It freezes on chapter 14-15.
on my other player it's going fine so far into chapter 17.

so what's the deal? I thought burning using the ISO image was supposed to be a 1:1 transfer???

media used- memorex

yes I know. Memorex sucks, but I bought them before I knew!

That?s why there known as Memo-Sux.
Maybe the other player don?t like DVD+R and you may have to Booktype to DVD-ROM.
What is your drive? Use DVDD to find out, go to Tools -> Drive -> Check for firmware updates and it will tell your drive and find any firmware updates that you may need

my drive already booktypes to DVD-ROM, which should play. I get through over 1 hr of the movie before it freezes. That standalone player has done it with other ripped discs before.

That being the case, I think I would look at getting a new player??
The cheap ones seem to play better than the expensive ones?.
Just a thought.

It's the cheapie player that has a problem! my other player (same manufacturer) costs 5 times as much as the cheapie and plays better. I guess my players are in a role reversal.

Well I am trying to backup Brothers Grimm with AnyDVD 5.8.1.1 and I get out of memory.

Have rolled back to 5.6.3.1 and will try again.

DVDShrink runs out of memory on some of the new Rip guard movies like Bros Grimm.

Don't use it, use this Guide and see how it comes out.....

¨ open up DVD Decrypter
<> put your original dvd movie inside burner or dvd-rom
<> Mode, ISO, Read
<> set your source <===== where the original is located
<> set your destination <===== to your hard drive
<> click on Decrypt (now sit tight and wait until it's completed)

Once it's successfully ripped the ISO into your hard drive

¨ open DVDShrink
¨ <> goto File -> Open Disc Image and open the ISO file just ripped
¨ <> do the Shrink thing either Full Disc or Re-author, your choice
¨ <> hit Backup and tell Shrink to Burn with Decripter
¨ <> place a blank disc in your drive, set the burn speed and hit the burn button
¨
¨ When finished burning, remove the newly copied disc and you got it!
¨

Let me know what you think?. If it works for you then I?ll tell you why it works?.. If it don?t work then I?ll keep my mouth closed LOL.

Didn't work.

Same problem, buffer gets to 1500 MB and it runs out of memory.

I guess Hollywood has found a way to beat shrink and AnyDVD combination. I am sure they are watching.

Couple of questions:

Can this movie be copied using CloneDVD2?

Does AnyDVD 5.8.1.1 even work, or should I just stay with 5.6.3.1 till it begins to fail on all new titles?
