Here's what you need to do:

<><> TOOLS NEEDED <><>

DVDFAB Decrypter v2.9.6.6 http://www.dvdidle.com/free.htm
PgcEdit http://www.videohelp.com/~r0lZ/pgcedit/index.html#download
PSL2 plugin http://forum.digital-digest.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=3722&...
or VobBlanker http://jsoto.posunplugged.com/vobblanker.htm
@Agent1334 & UT_CK

You guys need to download the above applications/programs. You'll need the latest DVDFAB Decrypter 2.9.6.6 to rip the movie into your hard drive first, then follow the guide. Did you guys by chance do these steps when you installed PgcEdit and PSL2 plugin?
Quote:
PSL2 (Anti-ARccOS) plugin for PgcEdit and DVD Decrypter

Installation:

Note: This plugin works only under Windows (preferably Win XP.)
It has not been tested under Linux with Wine.

1) If you don't have PgcEdit v0.6.1 or a later version already installed on
your computer (shame on you!), download it at www.videohelp.com/~r0lZ/pgcedit/.
Put the PgcEdit.exe file in a folder of your choice. I strongly suggest
"C:\Program files\PgcEdit".
Then launch PgcEdit. PgcEdit will create a "bin" folder with several files and
an empty "plugins" folder in its installation folder.
(You may also want to create the shortcuts and the file associations with the
Options -> Install menu.)
Quit PgcEdit.

2) Extract the psl2_plugin archive to the plugins directory created by PgcEdit
(ie. in "C:\Program files\PgcEdit\plugins\") You must copy at least the files
"psl2_plugin.tcl", "FixVTS.exe" and "crc32.exe". (Do NOT create a subfolder
within the plugins folder!)
(If you prefer so, you may put FixVTS.exe and crc32.exe in the PgcEdit's
installation root folder, or in the "bin" folder, but the psl2_plugin.tcl file
MUST be in the plugins folder.)
As FixVTS can be used independently of the plugin, you may also want to create
a shortcut to FixVTS in your start menu.

3) Launch PgcEdit. A new "plugins" menu, with a "PSL2 (ARccOS)" submenu will
be automatically added by PgcEdit. (You can check which version of the plugin
you are using with the About menu item.)
If you can't find it, verify that you are running PgcEdit v0.6.1 or a newer
version, and that the psl2_plugin.tcl file is in the plugins directory.
*NOTE: extremely important here, once you've download the PSL2 plugin zip file, open it with winrar or winzip and "extract CRC32.exe, pls2_plugin.tcl and FixVTS into the "plugin" folder inside PgcEdit".

Again, I've tested 2 backups of mine and they both works flawlessly. Honestly, if you followed every steps in this guide, then you guys should NOT have any problems at all. Just restart over again slowly and you guys will be fine.

Good luck!! Let me know how it goes.

I know this is none of my business - but if you are doing that much to copy a movie you should just be buying them and sell your computer

I can do anything - please just ask - I am on everynight for 1 hr. 11:30pm to 12:30am eastern time.

This time I used AnyDVD in the background and DVD Shrink, then burned with Nero. It seems like Nero Recode2 does not like the Sony Encryption much, even though it was created by the same person that created DVD Shrink. :) It worked fine this way in re-author mode and full backup.

This is a dumb question since I'm a newbie. Whenusing Shrink in the tutorial, how do you open the DVD files just copied. WOuld it be the "open Files" tab? Sorry for such a dumb question.

@Burnthis

Why would I want to do that? Burning/backing up dvd movies and PS2 games (rebuilding PS2 games) are my hobbies/passions besides bowling, fishing, hunting, etc.

Hmmmm.... why would I want to sell my computer? I got a lot of love for my computer, so that's a no, no. The only things I love more than my computer is my wife and money, LOL.

@Atnevon

You don't need to open up anymore, DVD Shrink automatically open up the files for you already once PgcEdit is done. All you need to do is take out any unwanted Audio, Subtitles, Extras/Previews, Commentary, etc., then continue on with your usual shrinking process and you'll fine.

@nycdude

You're welcome and I'm glad I could help.

Alkohol,thanks a lot! You are my god since I discovered AD! You really do a great job, awesome guides!
I never used VobBlank before, so I have a question(I really think is a great tool(FREE!)):I noticed that all the stuff that you blanked was under 1 min long.That's how u sort'em out? I noticed u jumped from VIDEO_TS.VOB to VTS_02*.VOB, skipped 01.Do you check every VTS_*.VOB for parts under 1 min(if that is how you find what to blank),or how?
Thanks a bunch!

@cyprusrom

Yes.... VobBlanker, PgcEdit combo with PSL2 plugin and FixVTS are some of the few useful tools that you'll ever needed to bypass RipGuard or ARccOS protections. The good news is that they are all FREE.

In query to your question, yes you can do that way too, if you want to preview/check and then "blank" them out one by one, or if want to "blank" out or "cut" any scenes, fbi warning, previews/trailers, unwanted extras, you'll have to preview and blank or cut them out.

The reason I skipped is because I have PgcEdit "run/check" for any "protected/bad/junk/fake sectors/cells" right just before I'm going to process with either PgcEdit or VobBlanker, then I make a "good note" from that (what PgcEdit warned). Once I launched VobBlanker, I only look for any VTS_XX_*.VOB (or VTS_02_*.VOB for THE CAVE) or suspected VTS that PgcEdit warned me earlier. Now you can preview them and blank it out (look for the title or pgcs #, when PgcEdit warned/gave you the suspected pgcs/cells that is/are likely to carried any "bad/fake/protected sectors").

In reality, if PgcEdit warned you about certain VTS_XX_*.VOB and once you launched VobBlanker, now "double click" on it, it will take you to another window with cell numbers, so when you preview/play them and there is/are nothing to view (nothing related to the movie) and it's all "black screen" only but with a run time of less than a minute or so, then it is likely to be the "fake/bad/protected sectors or cells" that PgcEdit warned/gave you earlier.

Here is an example of using PgcEdit to check for any suspected cells/pgcs or vts of having bad/fake protected sectors. *NOTE: you must successfully ripped the movie with DVD Decrypter via MODE, File F or DVDFAB Decrypter (will most likely work as well) into the hard drive first. Now open up PgcEdit and check for any left over bad/fake cells or sectors.

Basically, all I want to do is blank out that annoying FBI Warning sh!t, a few previews/trailers, plus them fake/bad sectors (protections) that PgcEdit warned/suspected of being inserted into certain VTS in the movie that's all.

Good luck and happy burning!!

You're welcome. Nah... I'm still learning too, except I know what to look for and blank out that's all. Happy burning!!

I think if one (an individual) can use the method I provided on the very first page in regards to "THE CAVE" right, then he/she will most likely have a success at backing up most/nearly all dvds that has RipGuard or ARccOS encrypted protections. I may be wrong, but with the help from PgcEdit, PSL2 plugin, FixVTS and VobBlanker you're likely to get a successfully backup disc in the end.

Great guide by the way!!!!!

@Burnthis,

This type of passion is what we need more of... I use similar methods to back up movies even though I own both AnyDVD and CloneDVD2. It is just more fun, challenging and you are actually involved in the backing up process. Also, you learn quite a bit about how the corruption is implemented.

I am totally new at this (been playing with burning DVDs for about a week).Burned about 30 good ones(after I found out how important a good media was).And yes, is fun chalenging, and a great learning experience as JaguarGod says.
Smeone said "Passion is energy. Feel the power that comes from focusing on what excites you". I wish I would have the same passion to learn in school:)! I spent hours after hours reading forum after forum on AD. And thanks to people like Alkohol and others, I'm learning. So please, don't sell your computer :)!

I was just wondering, if PSL2 plugin for PgcEdit was made especially anti ARccOS,it means that whatever coding crap they come up with in the future, another plugin might by-pass it? If so, and being free, PgcEdit is a wonder tool!

WOW! Thank you alkohol. I am the very newiest newbie. Just got my first dvd burner 2 weeks ago. Been having lots of fun and no probs. Am lazy and uneducated on the fun stuff. So I purchased oneclick.etc.etc. Everything was going too cool until THE CAVE.

I came to this forum and wow, you were there. I did everything step by step. I thought I must be the most ignorant. After my 3rd attempt, I thought maybe I should disable DVD43............

Low and behold..........everything was a piece of cake.

Thanks alkohol, The Cave is a keeper and I really had fun learning this new fun stuff.........I look forward to more education from you.

Hey alkohaol great guide. I'll have to watch for a few more from you. I was able to get the cave done a few days ago but just a little different from your way. I first used DVDFab to get it to my hard drive then I used FixVTS (standalone prog) to process the whole dvd. Everything worked great in Shrink then. I did choose to use VOBBlanker to clean out the crap first though.
Once again awsesome guide, hopefully more people will read it.

Did everything you said, and all was going good. Got to shrink and movie ended up being 2819mb with main movie only 40 minutes long. It had one chapter that repeated itself 20 something times then it played a small part of the movie. Not sure what went wrong. I have all the updated software that you used.

Ok, I deleted Fab and I'll download it again just to make sure I had the newest version. I may have had 2.9.6.5. It keeps timing out right now when I try to download, but I'll try again later and see what I get.

This guide DON'T need DVD43 or AnyDVD or any other cracking engines running. Yes, if you have any of them running in the background, then I highly recommend you to "disable" them.

Good luck!!

You're welcome, your compliment is accepted.

Yes... both VobBlanker and FixVTS are awesome, they're extremely useful to process bad/fake/protected sectors or cells. Let's not forget about PgcEdit in combination with PSL2 plugin (this is a must have tool, especially for ARccOS and RipGuard).

Have fun burning!!

Honestly, I don't know how you end up with only 2819MB on the Main movie. If you take a look at my guide, DVD Shrink has 3,076MB, which is the whole/main movie, plus extras and menu. Here's the picture for reference.

If you only have 2819MB, then there is something wrong on the way (missing a step). Again, Once PgcEdit is completed, it should open up DVD Shrink automatically (if you have DVD Shrink installed on your system).

Did you downloaded this (PSL2 plugin v2.9)? Here http://forum.digital-digest.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=3729&...

It needs to be extracted and inserted into the plugin folder via PgcEdit, in order to work properly.

I just tried this and it kind of works, but I am left with a file size 2.82GB so when it goes into Shrink, it say the compression is at 100%, but it's missing a lot of the movie - when I go to Re-author, it says there are three titles with a total of less than an hour. Any ideas?

What version is your PSL2 plugin? You need to have version 2.9 in order to process properly. I suggest you restart over, since you don't have the full/whole movie. Seriously, I don't know why some of you don't have the whole disc (main movie, extras, etc.) -- it's pretty simple, so restart over. Here's the version 2.9 PSL2 plugin http://forum.digital-digest.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=3730&...
