@vernmark

You're welcome, glad I could help and enjoy your backup now. Yes, I couldn't tell any differences from my backup to the original when watching on my 55" Widescreen SONY HDTV.

Happy burning!!

Thanks alkahol. I took the DVDFab Decrypter part for granted, I thought that the rest was the important part and that DVDFab was just ripping the original as-is. I am sure that was my problem, I should have READ first.

Heads up to everybody!!I used DVD2One 2.0 Which I found on a torrent site & had no problems with the CAVE i ended up with a beautiful copy. Can't say I like its burning skills as I've ruined 2 Discs with it .But then again it could be me.As I was not all that familiar with this new version U can copy ISO or standard Video files. But I think for burning only ISO..Also after hearing about all these problems I did another extraction & burn with Clone DVD2..Again no problems..Clone burns your Disc very well..Both programs worked well with AnyDVD

Hey there, I tried everything you said and more, and this does not work. No matter what I do, run the cave through VOB blanker, or through pgcedit with the plugin, i cannot get it to work. What it does is copies all the extra stuff, but not the movie, so once it is run through DVD Shrink, all you end up with is like 2 gigs of stuff, but no movie. I dont know what else to do. Also, If I run it through just dvdfab and then shrink, it ends up with to much data, and I am not sure if I can burn it that way anyways. Let me know if you have more info about this.

I do believe that if you're an advanced user (familiar) with PgcEdit, PSL2 plugin, FixVTS and VobBlanker, then you shouldn't have any problems
Cool. Do you mean/feel that the process (running PgcEdit, having the PSL2 plugin clean up the files, having FixVTS process the files) would be similar? Or is this an impossible kind of thing to tell?

What method did you used to backup yours?
1 - Followed your guide, DVD Shrink, dvddecrypter

Cheers

Great work Alkohol, but I am having trouble getting the PSL2 plugin from your link http://forum.digital-digest.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=3729&..., I am getting a message: Invalid Attachment specified. If you followed a valid link, please notify the administrator.
Cheers, Dave.

UPDATED: since a few members keep saying that they only have like 2.8GB or 2819MB once it's done with DVD Shrink. Honestly, I have no idea how you guys come up with half of the movie files only.

I re-backup another copy just to see what's all the fuss what's all about this time, using just DVDFAB Decrypter 2.9.6.6, PgcEdit combo PSL2 plugin with FixVTS and DVD Shrink, and guess what... it's 4.29GB (YES.... a whole/full disc movie, fully working backup).

Again, if you've followed this "2nd basic/simple guide" and you're still not able to make any successful backup, then you either need to buy AnyDVD with the latest updated and try to backup again. If you failed to backup with using AnyDVD too, then all you have to do is keep and watch your original disc only. Good luck and enjoy it!!

Here is another basic guide for newbies/dummies or those that needed.

<><> TOOLS NEEDED<><>

DVDFAB Decrypter (get the latest one 2.9.6.6)
PgcEdit v0.6.1 or higher in combo with PSL2 plugin version 2.9 and FixVTS
DVD Shrink

<><> STEP 1 <><>
** Rip the movie using DVDFAB Decrypter 2.9.6.6 **

<><> STEP 2 <><>
** Process the movie with PgcEdit using PSL2 plugin and FixVTS **

Now OPEN UP PgcEdit

Once PgcEdit and FixVTS is completed, DVD Shrink should open up automatically if you have DVD Shrink installed on your system.

<><> STEP 3 <><>
** Transcoding/compressing the movie with DVD Shrink **

*NOTE: if you already have DVD Shrink set on the settings to burn with Nero, then once DVD Shrink is completed, Nero should starts to burn right way. Or if you have it set to burn with DVD Decrypter, then DVD Decrypter should starts to burn automatically once DVD Shrink is done. However, I like to see my final results, so I always used the destination/target into my Hard Disck/hard drive.

<><> EXTRA STEPS (STEP 4) <><>
*NOTE: this is for me or those that have their "destination/target" set to "Hard Disk/hard drive" only**

I had assumed that I had the most recent version of DVDFab since it asks me to check for updates, but to be sure I uninstalled it and then downloaded the current version and it appears that it is now working and I got The Cave to work. I got the 2.8GB file size until I did this. Maybe everyone just needs to verify they have the current DVDFab. Thanks!

Ok, got the cave to burn using al's method, but had to update dvdfab first. Also, my older dvd player would not play it, had to check it with my newer portable dvd player, guess its time for a new dvd player.

Again Alkohol....I need another sip of my wine.....lol..I am learning so much from this thread. I believe when another problem sony movie comes up, I'll have it backedup in five minutes. Even though I resolved my back up (THE CAVE) issues a few threads back, I enjoy coming back to this forum because I keep learning. This takes me back to when I first started learning how to burn cd's. (But more EX HAIR ILATING.)

You and ad rocks.
