BTW, here is a link to bbmayo's guides. They are well explained and very helpful for those starting out.

Alkohol,

Many thanks for your step by step guide. I followed your steps, I think/hope, exactly the only issue I have is the black screen at the start of the movie. How can I get rid of it or what step/s did I do incorrectly?

Thanks in advance.

@Olaton

Which method did you used? My original guide from the first page (DVDFAB Decrypter 2.9.6.6, PgcEdit combo PSL2 plugin plus FixVTS, VobBlanker)? or the DVDFAB Decrypter + PgcEdit combo PSL2 plugin via FixVTS + DVD Shrink?

The reason you have a "black screen" is because of the new ARccOS protection that DVDFAB Decrypter didn't completely take out, DVDFAB Decrypter will rip it successfully into hard drive regardless. However, in order to bypass/solve the "black screen" issues you'll need to have VobBlanker to "blank" out those 2 more PGCs that I mentioned on my very first guide on this thread.

Yes.... if you just used DVDFAB Decrypter and DVD Shrink or DVDFAB Decrypter, PgcEdit combo PSL2 plugin plus FixVTS and DVD Shrink only, then you will definitely have a success, but "it will still have a black screen" in the beginning before the actual movie is going to start/play. You'll need to press the [fast forward] button, then it will play smoothly afterward.

Hope this clears things up for you.

The black screen in the beginning can be removed in Shrink in the re-author mode(i.e. movie only) by selecting the start frames (blue arrows)and sliding it to the start of the moivie.

Well, that's the movie only.

Me, I'm a "full disc" plus VobBlanker person (to PROCESS and BLANK out sh!t like black screen, FBI warning, unwanted trailers, other audio & subtitle, etc.) and still have a "fully working full disc", so take whatever floats in your boat.

alkohol,

I used the DVDFAB Decrypter + PgcEdit combo PSL2 plugin via FixVTS + DVD Shrink method. How do I know which PGC's to blank out? Does VOBblanker handle it automatically? The reason I am asking is because I am having the same issue with the movie the Gospel and will probably need to use VOBBlanker on it as well.

Thanks again for your patience and help.

@olaton

Here http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/1/282892 you need to follow my first guide and runs it through VobBlanker (to blank out those 2 PGCs), then PROCESS it to filter out any left over junks. Actually, here's what you need to do:

<> 1 <>
Rip the movie using DVDFAB Decrypter 2.9.6.6 or 2.9.6.8 whichever version you have (should take 10 - 12 mins)

<> 2 <>
Open up PgcEdit and use the plugin Wizard to process fake/bad cells or pgcs as the "first guide" stated. **NOTE: If you're using DVDFAB Decrypter 2.9.6.8 and PgcEdit DID NOT find any craps/fake cells, then skip the process. If you're using DVDFAB Decrypter 2.9.6.6 or earlier version, then use the PgcEdit step/process. (should take 3 - 5 mins)

<> 3 <>
Open up VobBlanker and follow my "first guide" using VobBlanker to blank out those PGCS as stated in the guide, then PROCESS and wait until it's completed, EXIT out once it's done. (should take 5 - 10 mins)

<> 4 <>
Now you can use DVD Shrink or Nero Recode 2 (your choice) to encode/transcode as your usual shrinking process.

That's it... enjoy it.

I am running VobBlanker now....will let you know how it turns out.

Here is another question, Which of these tools can be used to do the following:

I have a dvd highlight video from my sons HS football games and I would like to take out the high lights with him in it and make a new dvd, which tools should I use to perform this. I do have a little(very) working knowledge of the tools you have recommended.

Thanks in advance.

I had a movie with a blank start(right after previews).I pressed fast forward. Didn't work. Pressed next chapter and still didn't work,was stuck on the black screen. Then I pressed stop twice and then play, and it played smoothly afterward. If u press stop only once and then play it will not work(it will resume from blak screen).

Worked for me...

@cyprusrom

My first guide/method on "The CAVE" played flawlessly, no black screen, no junk previews, no FBI warning crap. Once I pressed "play" on the main menu, it went straight and play beautifully.

My 2nd method/guide at page 4 (DVDFAB Decrypter + PgcEdit combo PSL2 plugin and FixVTS + DVD Shrink) worked "a full disc". However, there's a "black screen", but once you pressed [Fast Forward] it plays smoothly. And yes.... like you said, stop twice and play, or you can power off dvd player, power on dvd, go to first menu scene and play. That did the trick and it worked for me flawlessly.

You're darn right! All the guides you posted-THEY WORK. My black screen was my fault. I skipped some steps(I am not the most patient one, and I also like to experiment). If someone encounters a problem, bad press disc or operator error.Try again and follow the steps accurately, be patient. If it works for most of the people, that means Alkohol is NOT bullsh@%$^*ing you!
Thanks for all your effort Alkohol.

Hi Alkohol,

I am also having the same problem as some of the others where it is only giving me the last 1/3 of the movie.

I tried 3 times same results each time.

Any idea what might be happening.

Thanks

Those that end up with 1/3 of the movie doesn't have the latest version from DVDFAB Decrypter, or perhaps their original has a bad pressed. You need to have at least version 2.9.6.6 or 2.9.6.8 from DVDFAB Decrypter to rip.

If you take a good/clear look at both of my guides (1st page & page 4), I clearly stated that it needs DVDFAB Decrypter v2.9.6.6 in order to successfully ripped "THE CAVE" into your hard drive. In addition, if you take a good look at "page 4" my "2nd guide" I did everything all over and I successfully end up with a 4.29GB "full disc movie". Yes... a fully working "full disc" backup, so I DON'T KNOW why some members keep getting half (1/3 of GB) from the movie only.

Honestly, I have NO IDEA how some members only come up with 2.8GB or 1/3 of the movie only. Again, I'm sorry, I really am, have NO CLUE because I did/tried 2 guides and both of my guides worked perfectly.

Try to read it and start over, here http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/1/282892 you need to follow my first guide and runs it through VobBlanker (to blank out those 2 PGCs), then PROCESS it to filter out any left over junks. Actually, here's what you need to do:

I have a question, I am trying to copy a DTS Demo disc, I tried it using DVD decr. and also dvd defab, and using both seems to have nothing. I talked to some guys at work and they said that they can copy it using a dual disc dvd burner, is there any way to do it and make it fit on a regular burner??

Just use VobBlanker, here http://jsoto.posunplugged.com/vobblanker.htm
VobBlanker is the sh!t, this little program is extremely powerful and it's a very useful tool. You can "blank" out, "cut/edit" any FBI warning crap, previews/trailers, extras (scenes), etc.

Well.....this time the new results from VObBlanker was too big for DVDshrink to compress to get the full movie. One thing I did notice is that I do have pgcEdit v 0.6.2. I did try both versions of DVDFAB decrypter. PSL ver 2.9
