Well the Echelon release of Grandia 3 appears to work okay. I checked both discs one and two, they both play fine. I didn't do much past the intro, but everything appeared in working order. I burned them to TYG02. A side note to anybody playing this game with Swap Magic, if it doesn't let you save in between discs, then there's no way to finish the game without a modchip. If let's you save in between discs, then you're okay. You simply boot disc two with Swap Magic, and you're on your way. Okay at least in the Japanese version you can save in between discs, I'd imagine that holds for the U.S. release. There's no way to be 100% on that except to finish disc one. I find it hard to believe they'd take out the option to save in between discs in the U.S. version, but again there's no way to know except to finish disc one. Cheers!

Sure. It might be awhile though, I'm finishing up DQVIII now, and I plan on playing Tales of Legendia next. Hopefully someone who's finished disc one will post the answer. You can save after disc one.

Click on the FAQ by glennkcl. Go to Edit-->Find and search for "disc 1" minus the quotes. That's if you wish to verify it yourself. Otherwise you can take my word for it. Cheers!

Oh well I can't lord my modchip and ability to play multi disc PS2 games over you guys lol. Nah I'm joking, I'm glad Grandia III allows a save in between discs. I became real familiar with this phenomena on PSX. I used Breaker Pro before I got my PS2 chipped, so I researched which games allowed you to play through them, and which didn't. There were a ton more PSX games which were multi disc, than PS2 games (obviously because of the size limitation of CD-ROM's). One of the main reasons I went with a chip was because I wanted to play through PSX games that didn't allow you to save in between discs like Valkyrie Profile, Crono Cross, Thousand Arms, Lunar 1 and 2, and Xenogears. Of course I have so many PS2 backups, it'll be awhile before I get to those. Still it's nice to have the option. I will definitely play them at some point. I've probably mentioned this before, but if you're interested in backing up your games, check out my modchip FAQ. The link is in my sig. No offense to Swap Magic users, but I'm a chip guy. Long live the Matrix Infinity! Cheers!

Right ive just gone back to Argonia after going to the Dark Ruins. I found out that i should have gone to Baccarat before Argonia lol, so i went the wrong way. And i walked all the way to Baccarat after that. LOOOOONG way! Ah well, ive got my Hero to Lv.29 now, and i think that i'll be around Lv.31 when i fight Dhoulmagus, After doing this weird mirror task of course. When i Finish this game, which wont probably be for a long time, I'll start on Magna Carta and Tales Of Legendia. Ive already played a few hours on both, and have atarted to get into them. Feels like theyre all gonna be great games. Laters.

Yeah this thread seems to have died down. I got Drakengard 2 off torrentleech.com. It was by far the fastest download I ever got for a PS2 game. It was 2.36GB's and downloaded in 5 hours. I got an average speed of 98kB's/sec! That's old hat to some of you who've moved on to newsgroups. But for me, that's excellent. Now I'm building up a 1:1 ratio, so I can use it for new releases. I'm going to want Shadow Hearts 3 ASAP. That comes out in two weeks. The same goes for Suikoden V and Kingdom Hearts 2. It seems the key to the private trackers is not to use them all the time, but rather pick and choose what releases you want to use them for in advance. In between then, build up a good ratio so you'll get the best speeds available and be exempt from wait times.

Yeah torrents are a little complicated, at least the finer points. Any yahoo can download a BT client, torrent file, and load the torrent file into the client. But it takes some knowledge to know how and where to get the best download speeds. I don't pretend to be a BT expert, I've been helped out a lot by some exteremely knowledgeable people in that area. Following their advice, I'm starting to learn what I need to do get peak speeds. It's all about spreading out your bandwidth, building up a good ratio, tweaking your settings, and using good private trackers. It's a little tricky too, you can't just download until your heart's content. Unless you have a T1 line or higher, you won't be able to upload nearly as fast you can download. So you have to limit your downloads. Otherwise you'll get banned from private trackers, be subject to long wait times, or simply be low prioirity because of a terrible seed ratio. So what do you use to download Boobooman, newsgroups?

Ive found that i can actually buy the games for quite cheap now lol, from another guy that downloaded them. I much prefer this method over downloading myself, since i seem to get quiitte shit speeds most of the time. The fastest download ive had was probably Shadow Of The Colossus, though even that took like 2 days to download. Ive only got a 40GB hard drive, and ive got quite a few games on already. Its ok though, i can probably get most of the games i want. Im not in a particular rush right now, ive got loads of games worth playing at the moment. I just want to acquire the games for later play.
Oh yeah, ive just got to Rydons Tower n DQVIII. Played exactly 52 hours, I thought Dhoulmagus was quite easy actually, except for the fact that he does loads of damage. I never died fighting him though. none of my characters did. Hero was at Lv.30, dnt remember any of the others.

Geyser? Yeah he was quite difficult at low levels. It was my first time playing the game, and i got wiped out lol. I went back to the Waterfall Cave and trained up a little and i beat him with ease.

Nooooo! The thread has being dieing without me lol. Man i feel like playing DQVIII but i dont have a chipped PS2 anymore or my mem card so im stuck. Does anyone else find it wierd how on most games you get to like level 99, were as on DQ level 30+ is really high?! I can get me Grandia III now, too bad i have to wait to get a PS2. Oh and my mate bought Star Ocean: Until the End of time, and im going to backup that soon. It's a pretty cool game, i like the fighting, its always good when you can actually move about. Plus the storyline looks good too.

Yeah, they should have put a Star Ocean type battling system in Magna Carta - Tears Of Blood. In Magna Carta, they made it so that you have to control all three of your characters. In Star Ocean, the other characters are AI controlled, so u only have to control your one, and the others arent just sitting around doing nothing. Ah well, what can you do. I think Magna Carta is a pretty good game, its definetly shaping up to be story wise. I enjoy the battle system still, the highlight of the game, though it can get tedious.

I find that most people who sell illegal backups use shite media. I read posts about Media ID's made in India, and some of the most obscure Media ID's you've ever seen. I've talked enough to media guru's and read enough that I can tell most Media ID's without any list. But when you get obscure ID's like Interaxia AG 4x (VDSPMSAB-001-001 or Commodore DVD-R 4x (VDSPMSAB 01), it's like wtf? I don't recall seeing Interaxia or Commodore Media in any chain store recently, how about you guys? Most of the time I across such Media ID's, it's from guys who sell backups. I just obtained the "airship" in Dragon Quest VIII. I won't go into any further detail for those of you who haven't gotten that far. I don't really see how the game could be that much longer. In most other Dragon Quest games, once you get the flight ability, that's all she wrote. It's been a long game, but I'm looking forward to playing Tales of Legendia or Nocturne. It'll come down to those two. Cheers!

Yeah i know what you mean about those media id's. I am getting annoyed with Imation DVD-R 8x that i've bought and a friend purchased, which are both CMCMAG AE1 discs. My backup supplier uses Princo white printable discs, and ive had a verbatim from them. Before your prejudice gets in the way about princo (like mine did), its alright, its amazingly a good batch. They're 4x discs, but they run perfectly and i've tested them, and they have gotten much better scores in KProbe and DVDInfo then my Ricoh 8x goldens - unfortunately i got a random batch that will only burn at 6x and 8x, and they are like RicohJPN-R02-03 or something. They work fine too though. Also, the Princo ones are properly burnt and booktyped with a high quality Pioneer burner. Man i would never buy those crappy backups from India and Thailand. If i for some reason did, i would test em all first and probably back them all up again on better discs.

Damn right my prejudice is getting in the way lol. Princo is below average media, and Imation, I won't even go there. The best it'll code out to is Ricoh. You've seen the worst. If you answered as many posts as I did where crap media was the culprit, you'd be biased to. I always recommend getting Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim. If you order from the right place, you'll end up paying less for TY and Verb's than CMC Mag. Where are you located Deadlywave? You really should switch to some high quality media, there's no advantage to using shite media like Imation or Princo.
86. Q. Where can I find good deals on legit Taiyo Yuden's and Verbatim's?
A. http://www.supermediastore.com Great List of Merchants locally, online, in the U.K., etc:
http://www.digitalfaq.com/dvdguides/buyerguides/buymedia.htm
106. Q. Where I can find top notch Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim media locally?
A. This is somewhat of a crap shoot. Big manufacturer's like Fuji, Sony, and Maxell have at one point past or present payed Taiyo Yuden to manufacture media for them. The big companies slap their name on the label even though the discs were manufactured in Japan by Taiyo Yuden. These discs will always be made in Japan. Authentic TY media isn't made anywhere else. Even if it says Made in Japan on the label, there is no gauruntee of getting authentic Taiyo Yuden media. You could still end up with Sony or Fuji media codes. Hence why I said this is a crap shoot. Places like Comp USA, Office Depot, Sam's Club, and Staples will carry Made In Japan branded discs. Again there is no way to know for sure from the package whether these are authentic Taiyo Yuden's. If you don't want to risk getting non TY discs, you can find 50 packs of Verbatim in the afore mentioned chain stores. One other alternative is the Made in Japan High Grade Maxell DVD+R's. They will say Made in Japan on the label and "High Grade" as well. These are excellent media. Remember when using DVD+R's, it's best you have a burner that supports booktyping/bitsetting, and a v.4 PS2 or later. Much thanks goes to kivory666 aka "docTY" for this information. He is indeed the Taiyo Yuden master. The best place to get authentic Taiyo Yuden media is from reputable online vendors like http://www.supermediastore.com http://www.rima.com http://www.meritline.com or http://www.newegg.com
