There seems to be a myriad of different ways to back up an original DVD.

Which is the most popular method out there (or should I say, most RELIABLE) of backing up.

I like to booktype my discs to ensure that they play in almost all DVD players. Nero doesn't support booktyping in my drive, I therefore use DVD Decrypter to do the final burn.

I notice in the forums that many people use DVD2one. What are the advantages/disadvantages of differing programs? What sequence do you use?

i.e.

DVD Decrypter > DVD2one > CopyToDVD

Any opinions?

Thanks

My method of choice is still:

Shrink > DVD Decrypter

Note: On some of the newer ones I use:

DVD Fabdecrypter to rip to hard drive > Shrink > DVD Decrypter

Ok, how does DVD Fabdecrypter differ from DVD Decrypter.

DvdFab Decrypter is a dvd ripper just like DvdD, but it does not have the burning engine like DvdD. If you could slap 2 programs together to make an updated DvdD, it would be DvdFab Decrypter and Imgburn. Imgburn is a burning engine that burns similar to DvdD.

@angus999. if you have DVD2One go with it, its quality is close as that of shrink, its much faster than shrink and it has its own burning room, you'll not need a separete burning application if you don't want to. DVD2One will handle files from new encryptions, shrink will not.

Nero Recode2 or Shrink using deep analysis and AEC/ fabdecrypter or anydvd running in the background/ IMGBurn to burn/main movie only mode= perfect.

booktyping would depend on the software you are using to burn, if you have the drive that is able to do that.

Cheers thelox, DVDdecrypter supports my writer (a Sony rebadged LiteOn SOSW-852S) but Nero 7 doesn't appear to.

Supports in the terms of booktyping I mean!
