I used DVD Fab to rip Independence Day onto my computer. Then I opened with the re-author option in Shrink. But the movie is not listed in the re-author option, only other features from the disc. But if I try to do a full back of the DVD, then the movie is listed but it is in a folder titled Unreferenced Material. I just want to back-up the actual movie, none of the features. But the re-author does not want to allow me. If I try to back up the entire disc, I get a warning after the encoding process that the disc does not have enough space available. Why? I set my compression to 4300MB. So I would think that it would compress the file to 4300MB so it could fix on the disc. Please help.

try having AnyDVD running in the background and using Nero Recode to convert...

or try using DVD Decrypter in File Mode and in options select to open only main movie

hope this helps

Is this the only solution? I am just trying to avoid downloading more programs.

Have you tried running this movie through Shrink on it own. If I remember correctly this movie has two ver. on it a WS and Standard try it with Shrink and then reauthor. This is an old movie so there is no special protection on it I backed this up with no problem just using Shrink, movie only.

I thought of just running it through Shrink, but never tried it. I will give that a try. Thanks

why i suggested those is that, wiht the top two tools you can copy pretty much any new dvd release aswell as older discs.

sorry, didnt know you wanted to work with your existing tools only, what arniebear suggested should work fine in this case, it worked for my backup.
