When I back up my movies on shrink it takes about 3 or 4 hours. Is there something I need to do so that this process isn't so long. Please Help.

Sounds like DMA issues to me. Try to enable all your DMA into DMA available or On.

I've got a similar problem with Shrink, It's really slow (1h30-2h00 average) for decoding new movies. I've did the DMA stuff on my computer and it still the same
I run a pentium 4, 2.0 GHZ processor, with 768 MB of RAM, 160 GO hard-drive. My dvd burner is a LG. My cousin burns with a Pioneer and he's decoding in the 35-40 minutes range. Could my burner be the problem or it's Shrink that is slow ?
I didn't want to start another topic

When you say ?decoding? do you mean Encoding, Shrinking? Or Ripping?
It may take this long if your Quality Settings are set at Perform Deep Analysis and AEC is set at Maximum Smooth. Be sure to check the Quality Settings Tab before backing up..
If it?s slow Ripping Try using DVDDecrypter to Rip with and see if it?s faster..

When I say decoding, I mean ripping or shrinking...
If I changed the setting to increase speed, I may lose in image quality, right ?
I tried CloneDVD2 for Madagascar and it took only 25-30 minutes...

CloneDVD2 doesn?t do as much analysis as Shrink, if you have Shrink set to perform the AEC.
If you use the re-author and do a Movie Only and try to get it as close to 100% as possible then you don?t need to do Deep analysis and AEC and it gives you the best copy in the least amount of time..
Play with a lot of programs and narrow it down to what YOU like?
