hello i bought the dvdcopy plantium from 321 studios. i try to activate it with the license and password that was given in the dvd box but it says i need the new license and password. can someone please help me i would really appreciate.
Definitely wrong forum, but since we're here. DVDXCopy activation by 321 stopped some time back. DVDXCopy International started selling the program and activating it. I have little experience with them, but here is the support link to International. http://www.dvdxcopy-international.ca/support.html You contact them via a message page. Other than them, I have no knowledge of any other legal activation of the XCopy. Also, they're having a clearance sale, so I question how long they will keep up XCopy support.
DVDXCOPY is garbage. Everyone should know that Xcopy will not handle newer copy protection schemes such as RipGuard. Investing on AnyDVD is better because they will update and release a new version when a newer protection scheme is found in any region of the world.

That's an opinion on another question. DVD Shrink doesn't handle the newer encryption and I don't hear people calling it "garbage". AnyDVD helps there as well. Most of the new encoding programs don't even have decryption software and they need AnyDVD or another decryption utility. So, does that make them "garbage"? The real problem with XCopy is that it suffers from interference problems more than a lot of other encoding programs and it is overpriced. Plus it requires activation and keeps losing support. For those it works for, there's not been a big issue with quality.

Shrink is free and Xcopy is not free so I wouldn't buy Xcopy. I see Xcopy as garbage because I almost bought it and I would have ended up buying AnyDVD and using Shrink.
Hmmm. You have legitimate reasons for not wanting XCopy, but your reasoning for using the word "garbage" eludes me. ;) There are wild food items, but does that make food purchased in the supermarket "garbage"? Some lucky souls have cars given to them, but does that mean those of us who have to pay through the ying yang drivers of "garbage"? Shrink's decryption software is out of date, so it needs AnyDVD to backup the newer movies. AnyDVD is retail, but not many are calling it "garbage" either. Just because someone pays for something, it's doesn't make the item garbage. Your reasons for preferring freeware are alright and not wanting to pay too much makes sense. However, calling something garbage because it has a pricetag doesn't make sense.
To clue you in, one of my friends is using a later version of XCopy to record some DL backups his other programs wouldn't do. He has Shrink, Recode, DVDCopy4 and probably some others, XCopy 5 is the only one he could get to work on those troublesome ones. He has a huge projector screen system and the quality is excellent. Doesn't sound like "garbage" to me and the freebies weren't working or even some of the retail apps. I've used XCopy myself and as I said, the biggest fault was the price. I can't call that "garbage". What's garbage is the way support got dropped for the app, but "Big Brother" was partially to blame on that one.
hi, this needs a thread starting in the dvdxcopy forums here - http://dvdxcopy.afterdawn.com. i'll close this one as i'm unable to do anything in the dvdxcopy forums
