I am running AMD Athlon 64 2800+ with 1.5 GB DDR 3200 memory with XPSP2.
I have checked my DMA setting and they are default at the highest available. U DMA 4 for my burner and U DMA 2 for the DVD reader.

I just added a 1GB stick of memory to my system giving me the 1500gb and I added the new dvd reader.
NOw when using Shrink the speed will start out at 4700kb/s but five minutes into it it will slow down to 1800kb/s or so. Before I added the new DVD reader and memory it would start out around 2000 kb/s and stay there. I would like to know what speeds i should expect and how to increase them.

Here are a few things I do to make dvd ripping and encoding faster, disable any processes/programs that are not needed like anti-spyware, quicktime & real player, (reducing start up programs will also speed up boot time got to windows market place and download windows startup tool) disable screensavers and don't use video preview in DVD Shrink. I get better speeds that way also just a word of advice sometimes windows will revert your drives to pio mode and still show dma you can check that to be sure in start up as the loading screen goes by make sure it says dma is enabled. Sometimes I have had to reinstall a program that will activate dma like dvdfab decrypter just to get it to enable it for me because nothing else worked. Good luck

I have a suggestion just to see if you get different results. Download DVDfabdecrypter rip your files to hard drive using this program then encrypt and burn using shrink and Nero or classic DVD Decrypter see if that gives you a boost in overall speed and time. I quit using DVD Shrink to rip my dvds as it is no longer updated or supported and it may be that it was never updated to work faster with 64bit. Maybe someone else who has more experience with 64bit will catch this thread but the times you listed do seem quite slow for your system. Well give my suggestion a try and let me know what the results this will also help with anyone getting onto this thread.
