It should I have used AnyDVD behind DVDXcopy and they have burned. However, if these disks are badly scratched they may not backup at all.

Arniebear is right. Poor physical condition affects the ability of the optical head to read. The XCopy has the XRescue, but the head still has to be able to read the data from the disc. No matter how good the recovery software, to get it all, it has to be readable. I'll just add there are a bunch of resurfacing and repair tools on the market. It just depends on whether you're interested in investing for disc maintenance. I have a Skip Dr that resurfaces and polishes. There are others and you can pick them up at places like Wal Mart.

As to your original question, Arniebear is batting 1000 here. AnyDVD works with DVDXCopy and most other recording apps to break decryption. In fact I've not run across one that it won't.

How true, best money I ever spent, even though I did not get the discount.

I didn't get it either. They should have given us a free version. I don't mean to sound like a commercial, but it is a good app and the competition just won't do the work. Fengtao's app, DVD Region+CSS Free, would be competitive if they'd keep the decryption ability updated faster.

I sure don't see getting involved with DVDXCopy at this late date. I don't know if DVDXCopy International is going to keep going or not. They're having a fire sale on XCopy and it's still too high priced. I suspect they will go the route of 321 and disappear and then the customers will be left without support and activation, just as with 321 Studios.

DVDXcopy does no more than other programs, which are priced at half of what Xcopy is. Granted they have name recognition because of the fact that 321 was one of the first programs that really worked, however too many other programs have come along that are better. These programs may take more than a few minutes to learn, but you also have more control in the process. Xcopy probably will disappear mainly because they have priced themselves out of the market, and their habit of only allowing internet registration which means eventually you run out of activations is ridiculous. If I like a program I am willing to upgrade it as needed and pay the price, I have done this for many a year with Nero, and don't mind. But when I have to keep upgrading a program at over 100.00 for something that can be done with free programs, then I think long and hard. AnyDVD is 40.00 all it does is break encryption, but it integrates with other programs and is updated to keep up with new protections, this is how a program should be.
