DVD shrink becoming LAZY

just today i checked the folder containing a movie i had just shrunk. i didn't expect anything funky until i tried to add it to nero and the files were way too big for a DVD. so i checked the folder and it was 4.80 GB instead of 4.35 GB which it normally is. why would shrink all of the sudden not shrink the movie down to the correct size? I didn't mess with any options or adjust the compression from it's normal state of "automatic". i have been shrinking movies for quite a while and can usually figure out whats going on but not with this one. help me out if you have any ideas.

Make sure your target output size is still 4350...also was there any red in the bar at the top? Remove all audio except AC3 5.1 and any or all subtitles you don't need.

my target output size is still 4350.
i dont remember there being any red when i burned it but when i open up the movie in shrink now, there is red showing
i did remove all audio and subtitles.
I do however, remember that shrink was giving me problems with this DVD, (CRC errors, etc) but i opened DVD43 and then it worked.
