Just to add to my earlier post, I AGAIN ran it through VOB Blanker, and the WARNING messeage that appears over and over again is;

VTS 01:Keeping Cell. VID/CID: 01/53 --> 01/28
"Warning: Packs Unsynchronized. Skipping Packs.
Warning: No Navis Found! Outputting A Blank Cell.
A Total of 72048 Packs Have Been Skipped"

...and at the end, it says, "Finished. No Errors, 28 Warnings".

Can someone maybe elaborate a little as to what I am to do to fix this warning message. I am sure if I knew what was causing this message, things might go through a little easier. ...I hope.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,
JBurden

I'm curious to know what version is your DVDFAB Decrypter? If you've successfully ripped THE FOG via DVDFAB Decrypter 2.9.6.8 (like I stated in the guide), then you should NOT be getting any errors/issues when transcoding/compressing with either DVD Shrink or Nero Recode 2 at all.

Let me know how it goes, and I'll try to help. Have you tried to compress/transcode with DVD Shrink even with those "28 warnings" from VobBlanker? Like I said, if everything was ripped (or done right) with DVDFAB Decrypter 2.9.6.8, then it should process smoothly.

Good luck!!

Your Nero log is too short, there's hardly any info in there. However, I did noticed that you were behind a few versions of Nero and your DMA if OFF. That's the only 2 things I see.
Quote:
Nero API version: 6.6.0.12

You need to update to the latest version of Nero 6 Ultra 6.6.0.18 (arguably one of Nero's version so far), if you can then try to update to the latest of Nero 7.0.1.4B.
Quote:
CdRomPeripheral : SONY DVD RW DRU-810A atapi Port 1 ID 0 DMA: Off
Your DMA needs to be On here, see below guide to trouble or uninstall it's driver and get DMA back On.

This is a very simple/basic guide showing "how to enable DMA back On by uninstalling the driver(s)". This will solve your DMA issues nearly 99% most of the times, unless you're the few that has a Nvidia driver, then I can't help you. You'll need to google on the net for an answer on that.

@alkohol;
Thanks for responding. As I wasn't 100% sure of my version of DVD Fab, I uninstalled and redownloaded just to make sure. So Yes, The version I am working with is an up to date version.

Your guide is very well done, although I do have one question. Can you explain when I read about "having to run it through VOB Blanker twice"? Is this correct? Maybe I am missing something here. Am I correct in saying you run it through Blanker once and take the results and run it through again? That part I did not get in your guide if that is a step. I think I may be getting a little confused.

Did you see my other post just a little while ago? It states the "Warning" messages that I get. Any Ideas?

Thank you again for your time.
You are helping a lot of people with this on going issue!

I am going to try it again, from the beginning, and see what happens this time.

I guess I didn't really make it clear when I first posted/put on "my guide", but I've fixed it now and it should be much better (more clear/easy).

No you DO NOT NEED to run through VobBLanker 2.1.0.0 TWICE, you NEED to run/process through VobBLanker ONCE only.

Just out of curiosity, do you have any kind of cracking engines like AnyDVD or DVD43 running in the background? Because if you do have DVD43 or AnyDVD running in the background, then IT WILL CAUSE VobBLanker to have some kind of errors or possibly end up with a much smaller movie files (GB) after processed with VobBLanker, or you may experience some issues when trying to transcode or compress with DVD Shrink or Nero Recode 2. I recommend you or anyone that DON'T have the latest from AnyDVD to TURN OFF their cracking engines such as DVD43 or AnyDVD (if it's NOT the latest).

Like I said, I've tested 2 of my backups and both copies played flawlessly, no glicthes, no black screen, no freeze, no pause, it worked 100% smoothly. So my advice is... if you don't have the latest from AnyDVD, then just start everything over from the beginning and you should be fine.

Most of my guides doesn't required AnyDVD, DVD43 or any other cracking engines. I could only try to give FREEWARES (free programs) to Newbies or those that needed helps, such as DVDFAB Decrypter, VobBLanker 2.1.0.0, DVD Shrink and sometimes DVD Decrypter, except Nero only.

Good luck, try it again, and let me know how far you get this time.

I forgot to add, here's a new pictures for references, when you get to <> STEP 2 <> with VobBLanker 2.1.0.0 to PROCESS:

<><><> STEP 2 <><><>
**Process and filter out craps/junks (bad/fake/dummy cells) with VobBLanker 2.1.0.0**

*NOTE: make a folder name VOBBLANKER FOG and a sub-folder name VIDEO_TS inside VOBBLANKER FOG, or you can called it anything you want, just remember that's all*

**NOTE: VERY IMPORTANT HERE, IF YOU DON'T WANT TO BLANK ANY VTS or PGCS, THEN JUST FOLLOW THIS STEP BELOW and SKIP THE ABOVE STEP.

You can use the guide here for THE CAVE as well. Yes, it will work for THE CAVE as it did worked for THE FOG. I've used both methods: PgcEdit combo PSL2 plugins + FixVTS and VobBLanker 2.1.0.0 and they both worked flawlessly, regardless if it's RipGuard or ARccOS.

Again, I'm afraid that my guide for THE CAVE thread has been put on locked/closed due to some confusion and whiners because I don't want anyone to have some kind of miscommunication that's all. However, I'll GUARANTEE you 100% that if you use this method for THE CAVE, then you'll be able to have a successfully backup copy within 50 - 70 minutes depends on your computer specs.

Just follow this guide and change your movie from THE FOG to THE CAVE and when you get to STEP 2, you don't need to BLANK anything at all if you don't know what/where to blank. Now just set your "input = your source of your ripped VIDEO_TS.IFO file" and OPEN, and set your "output = your new destination of folder or THE NEW CAVE, VIDEO_TS, click OK, then just click PROCESS.

That's it.... sit tight and VobBLanker 2.1.0.0 will PROCESS and FILTER out any junks/craps, fake pgcs, fake/dummy cells or any encrypted sectors. VobBlanker should take roughly 10 - 12 minutes only, once it's done, you can import/load your THE NEW CAVE, VIDEO_TS folder/file into DVD Shrink and shrink/transcode it as your usuall process.

OK, so it seems that I am a little closer. I think the mistake I was making was I must have had DVD43 still on when I first used DVD Fab Decrypter, because I did every thing completely over again and this time it ran through VOB Blanker with 0 errrors and 0 warnings!

But I am still having a problem. The whole point of using VOB Blanker is because when you try to use DVD Shrink (at first), the file size is way too big, but VOB Blanker fixes this, so that you can reduce the size as needed. Well, when I try to use DVD Shrink with the lastest VOB Blanker output, it is still acting the same way. DVD Shrink will not let me shrink it to make an ISO File.

Now What? I'm so confused/frustrated. BTW, the file size for the VOB Output is 7.2 GB, which is what you said it is suppose to be. Why is DVD Shrink not working for me?

While I am waiting for your reply, I will read back over your notes in case I over looked something.

Thanks,
JBurden

DVD Shrink should be able to compress/transcode any 7.2GB into a 4.7GB DVD-R or DVD+R easily. My final size from VobBLanker was 7.20GB and I was able to transcode/shrink/compress with either DVD Shrink or Nero Recode 2 flawlessly. And my final compress/transcode from both Nero Recode 2 and DVD Shrink is 4.33GB. Again, if you successfully processed with VobBLanker and your results is 7.2GB, then DVD Shrink should handle it easily after that.

Look at picture for reference, I'm sorta lost a lil bit now. Can you at least post a screenshot? So I can see what you're trying to tell me.

Instead of using VobBlanker to reduce the size of the movie, I went into Shrink's preferences and changed the target DVD size to DVD-9(8.5GB). Then reauthored only the movie onto my hard drive. After that was complete. I relaunched Shrink, opened up the file on my HD, changed the target DVD size back to DVD-5(4.7GB) and then had Shrink create an ISO image file and burn with DVD Decrypter. For whatever the reason, the movie now fits on the DVD. Still using free tools!!!

As alkohol states, it is important to use DVDFab Decrypter version 2.9.6.8 and to turn off DVD43 and AnyDVD. I initially had DVD43 on and I got errors. Good luck all.

alkohol,

I don't know what the problem is, but i reinstalled VOB just to make sure i was running the latest version and it again took an hour to process the whole movie. I should just be able to download the program and process the movie. There's no other settings or anything that i have to change?

Alkohol,

One again, you are the master. I did my normal thing using 1clickpro, didn't work. I used "the cave" guide and was surprised it didn't work. Found this thread, followed your guide and yes, it worked.

It took me less than 30 minutes from decrypt to burn...............

Thank you master...

alkohol,
I'll try to post a screenshot, but I don't know if it will work or not. The last time I tried, it didn't work. Is there any special thing you have to do?

...ok I'm starting to feel pretty usless. I can not seem to get the screenshot to come up. What's the trick about that?

FYI, I'm using DVD Shrink. In any case, if you look at your screenshots, at the very begginning of this thread, if you count down the screenshots that you first posted, look at numbers 9 and 10. My screen is basicly the same as that. It shows the green bar, and then a bunch into the red bar.

The differences I do see is your percentage is stuck at 99%, but mine is at 64.2%. I can obviously make it bigger, but not smaller. Because of this difference, the file size is also smaller than what your show. At the end of the red bar, mine now shows 5207.

One more thing thats wierd, is that if I try doing anything with this file, such as attempts to re-author, the program freezes.

I hope this info is of some help.

Thanks,
JBurden

Alkohol- I used your instructions for the FOG without fail., and now have a perfect Back-up. I do have a quick question concerning VobBlanker....after I entered the blanking instructions, I didn't see anywhwer in the VobBlanker page that I had done so. Is there a reference somewhere (on the VobBlanker page), that shows I blanked out certain portions of the disc?

UPDATE!!!
After repeatedly trying to back up The Fog, using your method, but with continual issues, I thought maybe it would make a difference if I tried it on the other computer. I generally do not use "The Other Computer" because it is older and much slower. But to my surprise, I did everything as I did on the first computer, and it looks as if it is going to work. It is still creating the ISO File, so I can not say for sure. But no issues as of yet!

I'll let you know the final outcome. And thank you again for all you help.

Thanks,

When VOB Blanker or Shrink take an extraordinary amount ot time to work, the explanation is is DMA problem, more often than not. Resetting DMA by method previopusly described by ALCOHOL should be tried first. Sometimes removing the entire IDE channel that the burner/reader are on, then rebooting and let Windows find it again as "new hardware", may work as well.
