DebB,
Is there 2 Drives or 2 Partitions of 1 drive on your computer. Sounds like the D: drive or partition is where the OS is so you might hae a C; Drive or E drive somewhere. When you click on Start go to My Computer how any HD are you showing and how much available ( free) space do you have ?

Car.Mike ~ This is what I see when I follow your instructions:

Hard Disk Drives:
------------------
Local Disks (C:) total size 181 GB free space 165 GB
Local Disks (D:) total size 4.30 GB free space 2.38 GB
---------------------------------------------------------------

I hope I've answered your post correctly. I appreciate you helping me - thank you!

Deb,
I want you to make a folder on your C:Drive of the computer. Call that folder Decrypted Movies
Now Open DVDFAB Decrypter and you will see Target: Now to the right of that is a browse button and I want you to browse to where the folder "Decrypted Movies" is on the C;Drive and highlight that folder. Now you are setup to do the movies and the movie will rip to that folder

Alkohol,

Thanks for the tips! I'm backing up Flight Plan now and have just one general question about using VOBBlanker. I went through all the items that could be previewed and found a few items that were extremely short and showed nothing on the preview player as well as the fbi clip. I specified to BLANK those. Do I actually need to do that? If I just PROCESS without previewing will VobB automatically fix the copy guard "errors" that cause DVDShrink problems?

Stringrzr,
You can just hit process and then wait as it does its thing. The reason some blank out certain parts is that they do not want the different warning at the start

Thank, Car.Mike. That begs another question, should I NOT have blanked out those short sections of nothing? DVDShrink created the ISO ok but I'm wondering if I should do it again w/o the BLANKS. I guess I could keep the decrypted files on disk until I get around to watching the movie but I'd rather not.

Stringrzr ,
If none of the sections you blanked out were important to the DVD Structure then you should be OK. I just let VobBlanker do it automatically. I believe Alkohol removes are of the annoying sections from his copies

I just want to say THANK YOU ALKOHOL. That was the best and easy to follow method I had ever read. It worked like a charmed when I did the fog.

The only regret I have is that I SHOULD HAVE READ YOUR POST EARLIER THIS YEAR for the cave, stealth, & bewitch. I wasn't able to rip these movies and had lost hope.... =(

THank you!!

I made the mistake of using DVDFab Platinum the first two times but I guess the Patin Couffin was messing everything up.

Worked great with just the Free Decrypter version. Used 2.9.7.2

You're all welcome. Glad I could help and now enjoy your backup to the fullest. Yes, you guys can pretty much use this guide for any of your future movies or dvds. If any of you have 2 hard drives, then set your "OUTPUT Folder" from VobBlanker to another location/drive, and VobBlanker will take 5 minutes to process the VIDEO_TS.IFO file only.

Best of lucks to you all. Happy burning!!

Here's the full PSL plugins + FixVTS + PgcEdit + VobBlanker, http://rapidshare.de/files/12939546/PSL_plugin_v2.14__installer.z...

If you've everything installed correctly on your system aka main hard drive and followed the guide carefully, then you shouldn't have any issues ripping and backing up any dvds/movies at all.

I suggest you read the installation readme.txt or instructions. Below is taken directly from The Mad Monk.
Quote:
PSL2 (Anti-ARccOS) plugin for PgcEdit and DVD Decrypter

Installation:

Note: This plugin works only under Windows (preferably Win XP.)
It has not been tested under Linux with Wine.

1) If you don't have PgcEdit v0.6.1 or a later version already installed on
your computer (shame on you!), download it at www.videohelp.com/~r0lZ/pgcedit/.
Put the PgcEdit.exe file in a folder of your choice. I strongly suggest
"C:\Program files\PgcEdit".
Then launch PgcEdit. PgcEdit will create a "bin" folder with several files and
an empty "plugins" folder in its installation folder.
(You may also want to create the shortcuts and the file associations with the
Options -> Install menu.)
Quit PgcEdit.

2) Extract the psl2_plugin archive to the plugins directory created by PgcEdit
(ie. in "C:\Program files\PgcEdit\plugins\") You must copy at least the files
"psl2_plugin.tcl", "FixVTS.exe" and "crc32.exe". (Do NOT create a subfolder
within the plugins folder!)
(If you prefer so, you may put FixVTS.exe and crc32.exe in the PgcEdit's
installation root folder, or in the "bin" folder, but the psl2_plugin.tcl file
MUST be in the plugins folder.)
As FixVTS can be used independently of the plugin, you may also want to create
a shortcut to FixVTS in your start menu.

3) Launch PgcEdit. A new "plugins" menu, with a "PSL2 (ARccOS)" submenu will
be automatically added by PgcEdit. (You can check which version of the plugin
you are using with the About menu item.)
If you can't find it, verify that you are running PgcEdit v0.6.1 or a newer
version, and that the psl2_plugin.tcl file is in the plugins directory.

You can also download the simple installer for PgcEdit, VobBlanker and the PSL2
plugin here: http://forum.digital-digest.com/showthread.php?t=58318.
This installer will put everything in the right place for you.

Usage:

The Wizard can be used without any specific knowledge. The other functions are
a little bit more difficult to understand, but you should not have to use them,
unless the Wizard is not sufficient in a particular case.

To learn how to use the plugin, and to download the latest version, see here:
http://forum.digital-digest.com/showthread.php?t=56078 (full guide version and
download link), or have a look at the short version of the guide, here:
http://forum.digital-digest.com/showthread.php?t=56831

Tools needed:

You need DVD Decrypter v3.5.4.0. You may download it here:
http://riphelp.com/downloads/files/SetupDVDDecrypter_3.5.4.0.exe
http://www.mrbass.org/dvdrip/SetupDVDDecrypter_3.5.4.0.exe

If you want to use VobBlanker instead of FixVTS to clean the VOB files after
the rip, you should install it. Download VobBlanker here:
http://www.videohelp.com/~jsoto/vobblanker.htm

If you have DVD Shrink installed on your computer, it is used by the wizard to
verify if the DVD can be opened. DVD Shrink is however not really necessary.
You may download DVD Shrink here: http://www.dvdshrink.org

Thanks:

Thanks to r0lZ for PgcEdit, to jeanl for FixVTS, and to jsoto for VobBlanker!
Thanks also to all beta testers. And best wishes to $ony and Macrovi$ion! ;-)

Have fun,
The Mad Monk

You're welcome. I'm always here trying to help out Newbies or those that needed helps. With that being said, I'll try to contribute as much as I can, so if you ever needed any helps, don't hesitate to ask. If you haven't tried my "DVDFAB Decrypter + VobBlanker" method/guide then give it a shot. That is... if "PgcEdit + DVD Decrypter + PSL plugins + FixVTS" is too long and confusing for you only.

Yeah, keep us posted. Hope everything will go smooth for you. Good luck and happy burning!!

I've done "Weatherman" with "DVDFAB Decrypter + VobBlanker" and everything went smoothly for me.

What version is your DVDFAB Decrypter? 2.9.7.2 should be able ro rip "weatherman" flawlessly into your hard drive. Once that process is done, continue with the usual VobBlanker process with the already ripped VIDEO_TS.IFO file and process through VobBlanker. Make sure you click on "PROC.ALL" at the right for VobBlanker to process any "UNSUPPORTED or SKIP" files. Or else it won't work. Make sure you TURN OFF AnyDVD, DVD43 or all other cracking engines when you're ripping with DVDFAB Decrytper and when you're using VobBlanker.

Good luck! By the way, if you can post a picture/screenshot of the error you're getting and I'll see what I can do. Seriously, Weatherman should be hard with DVDFAB Decrypter + VobBlanker at all.

@alkohol

I have a question. It might be a stupid one so I do apologize.

I was reading this thread as reference for burning the movie THE FOG. And this was the instructions that I followed:

"<> open up VobBlanker 2.1.0.0
<> set input folder = VIDEO_TS & IFO folder that was ripped by DVDFAB Decrypter, click OPEN
<> set output folder = make a NEW VIDEO_TS folder in hard drive <=== you will need this NEW VIDEO_TS folder with DVD Shrink, Nero Recode 2 or encode with DVD Rebuilder Pro + CCE later on.
<> click on PROCESS (sit tight and relax until VobBlanker is done)"

I followed exactly what was here and had no problems doing so BUT when I was reading further at the end of the entire thread - you had mentioned something about clicking PROC.ALL to process some files that are skip (if you wanted those skip files to be process otherwise leave it skip). Now, when I ripped the movie THE FOG - I only clicked PROCESS at the very bottom of the program and did not click PROC.ALL as mentioned at some postings on this thread.

So alkohol would that made a big difference in regards to the ripped movie THE FOG. I haven't played the copied movie yet to a DVD player (or computer) so I am not 100% sure if it's all working. I mean I don't know if I had missed some part of the movie or not. However, the entire process was a breeze and did not have any problems running DVD Decrypter + VobBlanker. I don't have the DVD anymore and won't be able to do a re-run.

What do you think? Thanks again!
