Clonedvd 3 has nothing to do with Elby or slysoft and is best avoided.

And I have not said that CloneDVD 2 is the ONLY way to remove the layer break, there are probably other software that does it aswell.

When I use AnyDVD and CloneDVD 2 there is NO layer break in my copys.

I'm not sure if the layer break pause will go away when burning a DL blank. Don't forget it has its own layer break somewhere in there. The pause may be less using the good programs but you can't change the way the disc is manufactured.

Exactly!

Latest AnyDVD to rip > VOBB to blank the unwanted on a DVD > Shrink to compress > ImgBurn to burn = Never starting a thread asking how to backup a movie

For me the best application which carried out the layer break effort was CloneDVD. Nero, DVD Decrypter File and Iso mode had problems in my stand alone players even with older versions of AnyDVD running in the background.

Use AnyDVD + CloneDVD. In case that you do not own theese programs download the trial version. Then I suggest to buy their registration numbers!

what version should i use for CloneDVD (cuz i got version 3.9.0.0) also CloneDVD doesn't make the image (other than 2 Directory Folders: Audio TS & Video TS <-- i have never done this way before other than burning an image)

does anybody else have a better method?

You have AnyDVD running in the background load up CloneDVD 2 insert disc into drive, select clone dvd when you choose what you want on the disc make sure DVD-5 is selected click next and choose what audio is required, click next and choose dvdwriter burn @ 4x and then go. When it has started it will say succsefully removed layer break.

I think everyone has the WRONG idea on the remove layer break feature. That was designed to remove the layer break when compressing a DVD9 DL movie onto a single layer DVD5 blank. You really can't remove the layer break if burning a DL movie to a DL blank. The DL blank media will still have its own layer break. So if the software you use has the remove layer break feature it will try to remove it from the ripped movie original but you will still have the built in layer break on the blank media which can't be removed.

From what I read in his 1st post he wants to put a DVD9 movie onto a DVD5 disc and does not want the layer break.

Exactly, in that case the Anydvd/Clonedvd process will work or at least help remove the layer break. My last post was for those trying to remove a layer break going DL to DL. It can't completely get rid of a layer break that is part of the blank media you are burning to.

That is correct you CANNOT remove the layer break on a blank DVD9 disk.

If you copy a DVD9 movie onto a blank DVD9 you will get a 1.1 copy of what you are trying to copy, layer break and all.

so there's no way to remove layer break or there is a way
in other words "you gotta set the layer break" for the DL blank media, correct? <-- my theory

Your question has already been answered regarding your 1st post. Read 7 up (dvd9 to dvd5) using anydvd and clonedvd2

If you are using a DL disc you will always have a layerbreak as it is built into the blank disc.

I do not agreee about DVD-9 permanent layer breaks. Usualy using CloneDVD I store the files in my hard disc. When I recompile the project (in case of some changes) the layer break it is not on the same places as in the original compilation. I found this using the ancient IFOEdit. On the other hand I agree in case of iso images.

This looks like it can go on forever. The layer break on the original pressed dvd may possibly be removed by software. Where it would normally show up in the movie may change location depending on what extras are removed during the edit process.

The layer break built into the blank media will not be removed and should be very close to the middle of the disc, in this case middle being the center of the amount of data it can hold. As an example if a DL blank holds 8.5 gig and you burn a 6 gig movie the break is at 4.25 gig or about 2/3 of the way into the movie, not in the middle of the movie. All figures are just estimates so lets not nit pick over sizes.
