First of all, Ive been using DVDdecryptor and DVD Shrink and Nero for my backups for several months with only a couple minor problems. All of which I have been able to repair by these forums(thx by the way everyone). I have Shrink v3.2.0.15 and its been working great, but all the sudden now everytime I push the backup button the program just stops, no errors. If I check application page it says program not responding. Im not sure why but I can still run some of my other programs fine after that, but most of them wont run at all or open and then stop also. I have reinstalled Shrink, and also tried burning other movies that I had previously backed up with Shrink and still have the same concern. Other than that I havent changed a thing on my computer and have plenty of space left. Any ideas?
running symantic anti-virus by chance? it may happen with norton as well, after one of there updates,I got hit with it as well, about 20 or so days ago. switched to zone alarm. works now
That wasnt a bad idea to try so I did. Well I actually just disabled all my anti-virus and then rebooted my computer for it to take full affect as the program stated. Still locks up. Any other ideas?
Is that issue on some of these newer releases/older movies/or all of them?
Dvd shrink does some weird stuff on the newer encryptions. DVD Shrink froze on my while doing FlightPlan. AnyDVD by slysoft took care of that one. When I run into DVD Shrink freezing-it's usually encryption related.Meaning it won't be able to handle it alone.
Well its an instant freeze as soon as I hit the backup button, doesnt even go into backup pop-up menu. It was a problem on all movies even the ones I was able to backup in the past. So anyways AnyDVD. I tried it and now everything works great! Thx for all the help, still not sure why that helped but it got the job done.
Well I guess it didnt fix the problem. It backed up a couple movies and now its doing the exact same thing as before. Doesnt seem to matter what movie I try. Old or new. Maybe its just DVD Shrink not liking my computers setup. Im still using AnyDVD and I tried a registry cleaner. Any ideas or is my computer just junk?
jaede ,
The only thing we have not suggested is are you re-booting between burning DVD Movies. Are the cables connecting the DVD burner to MOBO searted real well. Check the graphics card while you are at it and also make sure the fans insede the computer are operating properly. If all are fine then I have no more ideas.
As Saugmon stated, I was getting the same thing. The movie would run through the Analysis fine, but would freeze just as I hit the "Backup" button. Try this:
Put the movie in your DVD-ROM drive. Open AnyDVD. Let it do it's thing. Open DVD Shrink. Instead of clicking on "Open Disc". Immediately click on Reauthor. This should open up Windows Explorer. Double click on your DVD-ROM drive. The movie will run through the analysis fine. Double click on the "Main Movie" only. Click on the Compression settings tab, take out the unnecessary subtitles and languages. Click on "Back Up". This method proved to work for me.
It happened to me on about 3-4 different discs and this method got around it every time. If not, I'm at a loss. Good Luck.
