I down graded my sons psp from 2.0 to 1.5 for him and today he decided he wanted to play GTA. He has gone to upgrade it back to 2.0 and when it got to 49% he removed the disk and unplugged it from the power supply,(yes he didnt know what he was doing) he then plugged it back in to the power supply and when the screen came back on it just froze so i switched it off and then on again and now the screen is blank. The power light comes on for a while and then goes back off again. I put it on to charge and left it for a while but its doing the same thing. Has it gone to psp heaven? Is there something that cane be done? If i take it back to the shop will they replace it? or if i send it back to sony will they find out that i downgraded it? It was bought new at christmas. any help will be appreciated

Ok hope your still around try removing the battery without the cord plugged in then try turning it back on after reinserting the battery still without the plug. Respond back now ill be around.

In fact I think we would be fooling our selves if we have a community this large, and did not realize that there are some enemies present.

You just got your psp within 30 days period. So you can exchange it for another one or repair it without any problem. The only thing you may concern is that you won't be able to get v2.00 anymore.

Update procedure

Notices
Before starting the update, you must do the following:
Fully charge the battery.
Connect the AC adaptor to the PSP? system and plug it into an electrical outlet.

During the update:
Do not remove the AC adaptor.
Do not turn off the system or remove the Memory Stick Duo? media.
If an update is canceled before completion, the system software may become damaged, and the system may require servicing to repair or exchange.
I got this from sony psp website. As you know now, your psp has corrupted firmware. I think your psp need to repair or exchange.

Do Not tell Sony that.

Tell them something like this "I am trying to update psp to v2.6 and psp lost power in the middle".

I will just tell them that it was working and then the power went off so switched it back on and the screen was blank so tried charging it for a while but it will still not come on. I think this is the best way. Does everyone else? Son is really upset, hes only 9 and he thinks his world has come to a end. The psp was his siamese twin, always attached to him. Many thanks to all the replys

they wont believe you as te only way you can brick your psp is by either using the SXT downgrader

or by unpluging when you upgrade

tell them you were upgrading and there was a power cut

simple as

Just spoken to sony. I told them there was a power cut as we was updating the psp, they have said that it would come under accidental
damage and there for we will have to pay £90 to get it fixed or replaced. Dosent seem fair to me if this would have been the real deal. i know sony says dont interupt the power supply while updating but nobody is in chage of the main power supply apart from the electric companys them self, i told this to sony and they said i would have to take it up with the electric company as it was there fault. I think that it would be sonys fault as they are putting updates on there site for people to do so they should take into account that these things can happen and there for they should be responsible. I have asked for someone one else from sony to contact me and was told that it would be monday or tuesday so i will have one last stab at tring to get it replaced and then just face up to the facts if i dont get any where, which i dont think i will.

Yes i thought that too but im still going to put up a fight. They say it comes under accidental damage but i think it is an unfortunate event and they do not say anything about that in the warrenty. Im going to get legal advice about it and see if im right. If they put updates on there sites for people to do then they should be responsible for events like power cuts, yes i know power cuts are nothing to do with sony but they should take in to account that these things can happen and there for not put things on their site that can damage peoples psp. Accidental damage concerning the power supply to me would be someone tripping over the wire and accidently pulling the plug from the power supply. Fingers crossed eh

Did it cost you the 90 pound?

I wouldn't pay them a penny. There is no age limit on a psp so how can they expect a child to know how to properly upgrade the firmware?
