I am attempting to back up my copy of Sopranos Season 5 using DVD Shrink. I was able to back up seasons 2-4 as well as discs 1-3 of season 5. However, using Shrink, I encountered an error at about 99% of disc 4. It's the "parameter is incorrect" error. I have DVD Decrypter as well as Nero and have run into the same problem using DVD Decrypter. (This is the address out of range error). It has been on the 1_08.VOB file and I think one other last one. I also attempted the same thing with AnyDVD5.8.3.1 running in the background and this seems to have no affect. Any help you can give me?

Two things to try: If running decrypter w/ AnyDVD change this setting. Go to toosl>settings>i/o tab. Check ElbyCDIO - Elaborate Bytes.
Or try using dvd fab decryper to rip then process thru shrink as usual.

Thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately, neither worked. With AnyDVD running, Decrypter still didn't work and I got the same error even after changing that setting. Downloaded DVD Fab and it seemed to work, saving all VOB files but when trying to "Open Files" using Shrink, I get the error "Invalid Data in VTS1_08.VOB". Unfortunately, this is part of the second to last episode and the last episode of the season. Any other ideas?

Thanks for the links and additional help. One last thing. This may sound stupid but how can I download the executable file? I can only d/l the source code zip file. The other links bring me back to the original website. Thanks.

Thanks. I was actually able to find it. Now, trying to decode the instructions. Seems like it only opens the menu VOBs now.

Were you able to see arniebear's post in the link? It really is pretty simple - looks harder than it really is. Just open the video_ts folder in input folder and then select a folder in output folder (create 1 1st) then at the bottom click process and let it do it's thing!

Unfortunately, this didn't work either. Used VOBblanker and it processed all VOB files 01-08. Attempted to add to DVD Shrink and I get the same error, that it has bad data in 08 VOB. What to do...?

I have backed up Season 5 with no problems using AnyDVD and CloneDVD. If you are having difficulties try cleaning the disk or getting another original, it sounds like a bad press.

I will check out CloneDVD and see if that works. It is very strange. This was a virgin copy of the fifth season as I finally opened the box set the other day. Like I said, 1-3 worked perfect. Thanks again for your help!

You may want to try splitting the disk to two, it makes for less compression. I backed up my first two seasons to just one disk, but after getting CloneDVD I split the other three seasons. You can do this and preserve the menu on both disks.
