I tried to burn Flirght Plan to my hard drive and an error came up saying: DVD Shrink has encountered an error. Out of memory. The paging file is too small for this operation to complete. Can someone plaese help me fix this problem?

Shrink can't handle the copy protection placed on the DVD. The easiest thing to do is to get anydvd (comes with a 21 day free trial), just install it reboot, run shrink and use it as you normally would.

DVD Shrink will back up Flight Plan. Without other programs. Just did it. Like several movies - this one gives the error in the movie file in the blackness before the movie shows on the screen. For these I use Reauthor -> Select movie file -> Start/End -> Jump ahead in the movie to where images just begin to appear on the screen skipping the blackness at the start. Thats it. This makes about six movies I have had to get past the error this way. Learned this method beginning with Kung Fu Hustle.

He is absolutely right, its not anything new just do what the man says and jump ahead. I burned Flightplan several days ago. Took me a couple of trys before I remembered the trick.

Using vobblanker to remove the problem cells is alot faster. Just use DVDdecrypter to rip the files to your HDD, process those files thru vobBlanker to remove the problem cells (no trial and error or start stop method required here), the files produced by vobBlanker are then opened using DVDshrink (error all gone) to do with what you want. The entire process took about 35 min from start to burned copy, and it's all free.
@blondie
Having anydvd running and using shrink to back this movie, use shrink in re-author mode to backup just the main movie.
here is a guide...

I backed up Flightplan using AnyDVD and CloneDVD 2 doing main movie only. I kept both the 5.1 Dolby Digital and DTS audio tracks and got 93% compression. The backup played flawlessly from start to finish.

I'm not sure, since it's something in the extras that are causing the problem.

Nope, problem is in the middle of the movie. I don't have the decrypter logs, but there are bad sectors in the movie.
Here is a trick, worked fine copying this movie. With all extras (if you want them).
DO NOT USE AnyDVD.
Rip movie to your computer using DVD Decrypter in ISO mode. It will put 2 files on your computer, one about 8 gig and the other about 9 MB. You can delete the small one.
Open DVD Shrink (be sure any previous analyze files for this movie are deleted first). Go to file--Open disk image. Find your movie and then away you go.

Just curious, where does shrink store the previous analyze files. I tried to find and delete them because the program was hung up in the middle of the analyze process on me and was not starting over like I wanted it to do.

Look at what you have your target folder set to...that is where they are stored.

Not always true. I used AnyDVD + CloneDVD and it worked fine.

I'm running Windows XP Pro and found mine here:

Flightplan works with decrypter, AnyDVD, and vovblanker.......now, aside from all this.. I have a question....Has anyone bought a dvd player recently, and tried to play a backed up movie? I heard a rumor that if you make a backup movie region free....the new dvd players will give you the error "this disc cannot be played in this region" I make my dvd's region free, since I do some traveling...any one care to give an opinion on this?

I bought one about six months ago, a Sony, have had no problems with it. Got a portable DVD/TV for Xmas and all burned movies do fine on this one too.

I too had cyclic redunancy error problems with Flight Plan when trying to use dvdshrink with AnyDVD running in the background. Clone also would not clone it. I followed some advice here and got the free version of DvdFab express and ripped it to the hard drive. Afterwards shrunk it with dvdshrink and burned it with CloneDVD with no problem. This is an extra step and a bit more time consuming than just using shrink and then clone, but it is always so great when there is new freeware out there to get the job done.

Here's what I did,
1) Ran DVD Decryptor(v3.5.4) and ripped all the files (BUP, IFO, VOB) to a directory (C:\FlightPlan)
2) Downloaded and ran VobBlanker.exe v2.1.0.0(http://www.videohelp.com/tools?tool=580)
3) In VobBlanker --> Input Video Manager: "C:\FlightPlan\Video_TS.ifo"
Output Folder: "C:\Folder2"
4) Click "PROCESS!!"
note: first time I ran VobBlanker it crashed, so I just ran it again and it worked.
5) Open up DVD Shrink and click on "Open Files" --> Open the files from C:\Folder2 (which are the new VOB IFO and BUP files made by VobBlanker)
6) Do what you would normally do, take out whatever
7) Hit Backup.
Hope this helps. I know this thread certianly helped me.

Helpppppp!!! Ok, I've used Shrink successfully before and now am having problems with making a back up of Flightplan (that's why I'm here). I read all the suggestions and opted for using Decryptor (v3.5.4) and VobBlanker (v2.1.0.0) as listed by TrinTTT. However, after ripping the DVD to my hd (two files showing #7+gig & > 1meg)I can't seem to get VobBlanker to locate the IFO,BUP,VCB. Is there something I neglected to do with either program? Any help would be much appreciated.
