I never had a problem with DVD Shrink until recently. Now it takes forever to encode and acts very jittery as if I was low on memory or using too many programs at once. I checked everything and all is well. I even reinstalled DVD Shrink. Any suggestions? Thank you

@krizenry
Do you have "Deep Analysis + AEC" checked/ticked by chance? Or it could be your DMA has reversed to PIO or Off Mode. For more info, try this guide here http://my.afterdawn.com/alkohol/blog_entry.cfm/231/dmaissues
I designed that guide specifically for Newbies or those that are having troubles with DMA issues.
Good luck!!

I don't know exactly what PC Stats mean. I have a Dell dimension 4300s desktop with Pentium 4 processor 1.40 Ghz 640 MB RAM,Win.XP,80% free space on hard drive (29.6 GB free),Sony DVD RW DW-D26A.
I noticed the slowness after I upgraded to Windows XP service pack 2 unless it was just a coincidence.
I defragged about two weeks ago which I do pretty much every 2-4 weeks.
Also, Alkcohol, I did try your step by step guide but everything was OK. And no, the Deep analyisis is grayed out.
Any other suggestions? Thanks for your help.

You haven't answered andmerr's question in regards to "what media you're using"? And what Mode did your DMA stated when you followed the guide to troubleshoot the DMAs? Did you uninstalled the driver(s) by chance?

I use DVD FAB to decrypt, then I use Shrink.
What media do you mean? DVD's? DVD-R? I'm lost
As far as the DMA status, they both said: "DMA IF AVAILABLE".
No, I didn't unistall the drivers because I thought if it said that DMA was available I didn't have to.
I think it is something more simplistic that needs to be fixed because when I try to open Shrink, it takes 2-5 minutes just to open up the program itself! It used to open up right away. So I unistalled-reinstalled but same problem. And now when it tries to encode, it takes forever (12+ hours). I just don't get what happened, I mean it takes forever even to just open it up.

If it's not DMA, then there is definitely something wrong with your system. I would uninstall DVD Shrink and do the following:
<> run scan disk to clean up, and defrag at least 3 times a week
<><> First, install these below on your system <><>
<> get AVG Free to tweak and run
<> get Ad-Aware SE Personal from lava soft
<> get Spybot S&D to run
<> get HiJackThis to run and delete anything you don't need (be very careful)
<><> Second, run them in safe mode/boot <><>

Your the man Alkcohol! I ran all the programs you said (I didn't delete anything in the "hijack this" though) and Shrink is running much faster now. I share my computer with roomates and there was a lot of spyware/malware, even some viruses that couldn't be deleted! My SBC online protection program doesn't even detect any of this!
Thank you very much for the help & schooling.
