After I have used DVD decrypter (usually takes 15-20 minutes to decrypt), it used to take roughly 35-50 minutes to encode the movie with DVD Shrink and then another 15 minutes or so to burn the movie (worked this way for months). Now all of a sudden, it is taking well over two and sometimes three hours to encode, running extremely slow. (Ripping and burning with DVD Decrypter are still ok.) No new software or any changes to my system. Any ideas anyone??

Make sure your drives haven't reverted to PIO mode, if so set back to DMA. Here's how.

Also make sure shrink isn't set to run in low priority mode.

Drives were in DMA. Made sure Shrink wasn't running in low priority mode. Encoding starts at over 2000 KB/s and then rapidly drops to around 600 KB/s in just seconds. What used to take 40 or so minutes now takes over 2 and 3 hours.

DVD Shrink Slow ?
First here is what I do, I take the DVD master to the sink and wash it with mile soap under warm water, use a clean towel to dry it.
insert it to copy it.
Your hard drive has gotten heavier with more programs on it, and probably movies, delete all the stuff you don't need.
If possible defrag, and use Norton speed disk. Then try it again.
You should notice faster times.I also use Hard drive A and B, I put all the movies on drive B, and keep Drive A for doing the performance stuff, No Movies on Drive A ! Happy Copying.

Same here fellows. I hadn't used DVD Shrink in about last 4 months and just started using it couple weeks back.
My DVD Reading rate drops from about 2500 to 350 in about 20 seconds. I'm not sure why this is happening.I haven't installed any other DVD copier than what I had before (DVD Decrypter).
DMA and other suggestions are of no help......

My method is to use DVD Decrypter to rip/decrypt the source files. Then I used DVD Shrink for the processing. Use some sort of program killer such as EndItAll before starting your encoding. De-select the video preview screen. Put source files and output ISO file on different drives. These things work for me.
