hi
scan the files to your hard drive with DVD Decrypter or fab decrypter, then run them through VOBBLANKER to remove any dummy/bad files, then shrink in normal way. there are several guides on afterdawn to tell you how to use these programs.

"VOB-BLANKER version 2.0.1.1" By itself will correct "Invalid DVD Navigation Structure" Once you created your folder with VB you can burn the file with Nero RECODE2, DVD Decrypter ETC,:p

Hey guys, I had the same error. So then I used the VOBBLANKER tool and it 'repaired' the files. Then I opened them up in DVD Shrink and they opened up fine. Then I clicked the backup button and it made it about 60% through the burn process and it failed with some error. So then I tried manually adding the VOB files to Nero (not via dvd shrink) and burning it and it produced another coaster. I'm not sure what to do. These lightscribe discs are expensive too. Appreciate any help. Thanks.

birdwig,
Did you use DVDFAB Decrypter to rip to HD first? If not try that.
What is the name of the movie?

vobblanker is a free download that removes bad/dummy VOB files, these files can stop some software from being able to make back ups.

Okay guys. I appreciate the quick replies. However, now I decided to test a different movie, and I get an error during the burn process on this one as well. So indeed, VOB blanker did its job, however, now ive decided the burner is the one having problems. I'm not really sure what to do. I checked the firmware version of my burner and it is up to date. I don't think I've really made any other system changes since the last successful dvd burn, so I'm not sure what it could be. If someone can direct me to a troubleshoot dvd burner guide that'd be super. I have a Benq DW1625 http://www.benq.us/Products/DVDRewriter/index.cfm?product=542 dvd burner. The error comes up just in the middle of burning. Usually after 30% but before 65%. It produces a big long log of info too.

birdwig ,
If I am not mistaken you are using Nero to burn so Post the Nero log and remove your serial number.

Yes it is Nero, I've tried using dvd shrink(which also uses nero) and just Nero on its own and both failed. I'm not sure where I can get the log. Is it saved anywhere, or do I have to burn another coaster to get the log? Thanks.

You also have barely enough memory to run your system let alone burn DVD backups. I would highly suggest a memory upgrade to a minimum of 512mb and preferably 1 gig. This will make a ton of difference.

You should also reduce your target size to 4300mb so that you do not burn so close to the edge of the media.

Cheers.

fixed :Copying open VR discs was not working
fixed :Implemented a warning message in case a DVD-R9 DL is copied to a DVD+R9 DL and the layer break of the source does not match the destination disc
fixed :The calculated disc space for DVD-RAM media was wrong
fixed :Aborting a LightScribe print process could cause the application to hang

Ah. Okay. I just opened the link in IE and it worked fine the first time. Something timing out in FireFox.

Anyway. I'll give this a whirl. I tried a memorex regular DVD+R yesterday and it worked fine at 4x. Then I tried a HP lightscribe (i've never tried these before but they were on sale 15 for 7.99, I normally buy the verbatim for 10 for 8.99) and the HP failed. I think I cannot use HP media in a benq drive for some reason. If that's the case that's stupid, but whatever. Thanks for your help again.

I just don't know what to do anymore. I used the Nero thing to clean my pc completely of Nero, and re-installed the version I was linked to earlier. Then it still didn't work, so I upgraded to latest version of Nero. Still no luck.

And how come under Nero startsmart I only have 4 things to do under 'photo and video'. Before there used to be like 15 things to choose from. Weird.

I'm thinking if I could restore to my original Nero that I had going on before, I could burn just fine, b/c I just went out and got some verbatim discs that have worked flawlessly in the past.

This is just getting out of hand. Help appreciated.

birdwig,
You went to version 6.6.1.4 which is really buggy. We told you to go to version 6.6.0.18 which is below in the thread

Right. I went to the version you told me to first. Experienced the same problems I did before. So then I tried upgrading for kicks to see what it would do for me, and this is where we are now.

You really need to free up some Ram

Last address to be written: 2274559 (505:27.34, 4442MB)

Set target size to 4360. You really are burning too close to the outer rim.

What is the brand of the blank media you are using as the burner does not like it
