Hi all,
I am a fan of "Movie Only' backups( with very few exceptions). I have been Decrypting using DVDD in File Mode, selecting "Movie Only" for most of my DVDs.if it is a newer movie, i run it through VobBlanker.Then I was re-authoring with DVD Shrink. However, since I got Nero , I like Nero Recode2, as it is faster(IMO), even with all the quality settings. The problem is that I can only use Nero Recode if I ripp the whole movie. When I ripp movie only, with DVDD, nero will not open the VOBs, as if the Video_Ts file would be empty. But I have no problems re-authoring the same files with DVD Shrink.
So, my question is, did anybody ripp movie only and then use Recode, which means that my Recode is acting up, or is not possible to use Nero Recode, unless you ripp the whole DVD? I have no other problems with Nero, of any kind.
Thanx.

@Cyprusrom
I haven't tried to rip just the "main movie" only with either DVD Decrypter, but I've ripped the whole movie with both DVDFAB Decrypter and DVD Decrypter via Mode, File F into my hard drive. Open up Nero Recode 2 and choose the "Recode Main Movie" only and it should be fine.

Maybe someone will try just for the hack of it!

I think I've ripped the main movie files way back when before I ever thought of reading a guide and can't remember the outcome. So I've got a DVD in now and will give it a shot.
EDIT: The results are as follows.
Rip main movie + IFO's with DVD Decrypter.
DVD Shrink would not open the files.
Recode would only open the files if using Nero Digital.
Rip main movie only.
Same results.

If you rip movie only with Decrypter you cannot open the file with any other program but Shrink. The file structure is not correct. If you look you will see it is missing a BUP file, only IFO and VOB file are created. When you open in Shrink using re-author and run the file through it then creates a new BUP file to accomodate the IFO file.

Did you rip doing movie only with Decrypter, if so you must open the file using the re-author tab.

No problem, it is not used all that often although it does save time. I don't think people know it is another way to do a movie :)

The sad thing is, that's the only mode I use...other than checking the initial compression when I load a movie.

@Arniebear & LOCOENG
Thanks mates! That makes me feel much better! I have done so far about 95% of my backups ripping "Movie Only" with Decrypter and then open the files using the Re-Author tab in Shrink. I liked the fact that I was saving ripping time, and maybe skip some corrupted files. But then I tryied opening with Nero, and it didn't! Only to encode to nero digital, which I could care less about! I thought Nero was acting up!
Thanx for clearing up my dilema!
(The last movie that I did with extras in...I don't remember how long time ago...it was The 40 y.o Virgin. Other than that, happy with main movie!)

I found out that ripping "Movie Only" and then Re-Author with Shrink it was actually slower than ripping full disk and encoding with Nero Recode 2 movie only! So, I guess I wasn't saving any time afterall!
Cheers!

I agree Recode is faster, but for those who don't have Recode this really works out as a time saver. Before I started using Recode heavily about 8 months ago I used to do it this way.

You are absolutely right! What I ment was that was not saving time for the last 2 months, since I got Nero:~)! As for before that, it was a real time saver!
