I've burned a hand full of movies using DVD Shrink and DVD Decrypter. All copys are fine except for one small issue. All of the movies occasionally will pause for a few seconds on their own and then start up again. Some movies do it more freqent than others. Any idea what may be causing this?

How fast are you burning? (8x, 4x?...)
What percentage do you shrink the movie to? (70%, 85%?...)
Do you use Deep Analysis, or Adaptive Error Compensation? They're both options in Shrink to help the movie quality.

The write speed in DVD Decrypter is set to MAX. I've been shrinking movies to about 70%. I do use the Deep Analysis and Adaptive Error Compensation.

What kind of media are you using?
The dvds that skip more... are they compressed more?

Reset it to 4x and try again and see if this works a slower speed will make for less errors. If your movie is pausing/freezing/skipping/stuttering or has pixelation you are either using bad media your burner firmware is not up to date or you are burning too fast.

The disks are TDK. All the DVD's are compressed the same about 70%.

Reset you speed to 4x and try burning again. Your compression does not have anything to do with this, especially if you are using deep analysis and AEC.

I have my DVD Decrypter set to burn at half whatever the disc is rated. So, I would burn a 16X disc at 8X. Also, in DVD Shrink, I have chosen to have the ouput size set at 4.6 Gig instead of 4.7. This means that the movie doesn't get burned all the way to the edge of the disc. The edge is where most media has the highest drop out rate.
I had some off brand burner for a while and that is the only way that I could get it to burn copies that I could play on my PC drive at work. When I switched to a Pioneer dual layer DVD burner, I found that I could set Decrypter to burn at max and still get good results.
I have found that playing back a movie on a PC requires a disc that is nearly perfect to work, because the firmware and hardware required to skip past bad spots isn't available on a PC.
To summarize, a cheap burner or one that is going bad can cause bad copies, and so can burning too fast and too close to the edge of the disc.
