I'm running a Dell Dimension 2400, with 40GB HDD, 256mg of memory, Celeron 2.4 GHZ and a MadDog 16x DVD-(+)R,RW,DL burner interfacing through USB 2.0 .

Can someone explain to me what this means and also that sometimes DVD Shrink hesitates or stutters while it is analyzing or encoding, are these two issues related? Thanks in advance for your help.

This will be a problem. Close everything you can when you
doing your shrink/burn.

Sounds like the DVD Files you are trying to burn are not complete?
I have a few questions.

1)- What movie are you trying to burn?
2)-What did you use to rip the files to your Hard drive?

Newer movies will require more thsn dvd shrink to copy,
ANYDVD running in the backgroung is a great solution,
It runs in the backgound and works in the background,
To decrypt newer movies,

Otherwise you have to use dvd fab decrypter and Vobblanker,
before shrink on newer movies.

Also I would seriously consider getting some more memory.

Good luck

The movie is Carlito's Way: Rise to Power. I've had it for a while and was trying to make a backup copy to preserve the original from abuse. I didn't rip it to the HDD but rather just used DVD Shrink by itself w/AnyDVD. Should I rip it first then burn?

You can rip with DVD Decrypter fire in .iso mode,
Then open the files with ANYdvd and DVd shrink as before.

But if your using the newest version 5.9.1.1
It has a built in ripper for hard to copy movies,
It might just do the trick.

If your using and older version (of AnyDvd) updating would most likely fix the problem.

Reason why is the files arent bieng copied because of the protection.

No problem feel free to PM me for faster results or just to let me know how it went.

Also remember your memory is low so turn off any extra programs/applications, when doing your recode and burn.

Good luck

I've not had to use the decrypter very many times to rip the dvd. Can you remind me how to do it? I know you use decrypter and then DVD Shrink and then burn with decrypter again, but I can't figure it out. I've been going nuts playing with it all day long!

2. open the dvd decryptor program then go to to tool bar and hit MODE>ISO>READ. Then choose the correct dvd drive that the MOVIE is in as the "source". Also choose where you want the files to be stored on the pc hdd. THEN CLICK DECRYPT , or the huge graphical picture at the bottom of the program which makes it run.

Then using dvd shrink once copied select FILE
then open disc image.

Select the .iso you just made and process as normal.

I would recommend using ANYDVD with dvd shrink,
This way you dont have to copy the files in most cases.

But there are more guides to dvd dercypter and shrink here:

Ok, I tried to burn it again using your method and it gave me the same error. Also how do I turn off all processes while burning a DVD? Also AnyDVD Ripper said something about failing to initialize 75mhz and doesn't show text for the control buttons on AnyDVD Ripper.

Hello all. New to this site but I've been using this technology for awhile. This problem of the burning failed with the long error log, I recently got that too. Funny thing is a friend of mine with a brand new laptop, less than a month old, is having the same error message. I backed up my original of The Island using DVDShrink a few weeks ago. He tried the same movie and got that error. I knew it wasn't encryption related because I had just done the same movie with no issues. I came home and tried it again.....failed. Also failed backing up my Flightplan, and an old Disney Alice in Wonderland DVD. All go through encryption process fine, only fail during burning. I'm thinking may the wnaspi.dll file may need updated but I couldn't find a newer one than what I had. Any ideas?

Anydvd runs in the backgorund.
You dont need to anything else just have it running.

Quote:
Physical memory : 254MB (260096kB)
Free physical memory: 61MB (62796kB)
Memory in use : 75 %
On your second burn you only had 61 mEGS of free memory,
So try to close any extra processes when doing ANY of these
ripping or burning procedures.

Since your memory is low I recommend rippin to your harddrive
first with dvd decrypter. (anydvd running of course).

Then open the files dvd decrypter made using dvd shrink.

And on dvd shrink select 're-author' mode
and select only the main movie.
Also you could save the file as an .iso and use
dvd decrypter to burn,
(This would rule out nero as bieng the problem IF dvd decrypter
fails).

It's not that hard to add a second stick of RAM. 512MB is a reasonable amount. 256MB is workable, but barely.

Using up to date Nero helps as well:
Nero 6 update-
http://www.nero.com/nero6/enu/nero-up.php
Nero 7 update-
http://www.nero.com/nero7/enu/nero7-up.php

@kokkkkoo

Delete your Nero serial numbers.
Slow the burn speed down to 4X.
Try some better media as well.

You recieved a "Key Medium Error" during the burn process. That is almost always a media issue. Slowing the burn speed down helps occasionaly. You will find that experenced folk use high quality media, Verbatim, Ritek or Taiyo Yuden are s few of the best.

Ok. Don't know if this will help anyone else with this burn failed issue, but I found the latest wnaspi.dll file on nero's website located here: Nero.com/nero6/enu/ASPI_Driver.html." class="korostus" target="_blank">http://ww2.Nero.com/nero6/enu/ASPI_Driver.html. I simply downloaded this file and replaced the one in my C:/Program Files/Ahead/Nero folder. Tried it again...success. Seems replacing this file was the solution to my problem (same as everyone in this thread). I'm using Nero 6 by the way. Anyway, just thought I'd post my fix in case it can help someone else

The file should be saved in "C:/Program Files/Ahead/Nero" if you did a typical install.

Nero 7 files are located a bit differently from Nero 6, Try this location:

C:\Program Files\Nero\Nero 7\Core

Well I followed the success procedures listed above and uninstalled Nero then reinstalled it with the updates. After which I did the same for DVD Shrink. The movie is Carlito's Way: Rise to Power and here is the new error log I just got:

THAT VERSION OF NERO broke the connection with dvd shrink,
you need to rollback to an older version that is
compatible with DVD shrink.

Chances are you updated to nero6 version 6.6.1.4 (the latest version), if so, this version of nero will not autoburn if used with DVDshrink and produce the error you describe.

If you want to use DVDshrink's autoburn with nero function, you'll needed to revert back to version 6.6.0.18.

If you want to keep/use version 6.6.1.4, you'll need to burn with nero manually.

If reverting back to version 6.6.0.18, uninstall nero from your system using the nero general cleantool found here:

http://ww2.nero.com/nero6/enu/Nero_6_CleanTool.html

Next, install nero6 version 6.6.0.18 packages 1 and 2 found here (re-enter your nero serial#):

Package 1
http://httpdl1.usw.nero.com/Nero-6.6.0.18_no_yt.exe

Package 2
http://httpdl1.usw.nero.com/NVE-3.1.0.21_no_yt.exe

OR if you like that buggy version you can try this:

Uncheck the burn with nero option in DVDshrink.
When backing up with shrink choose to save target as a "hard disk folder", this will create a VIDEO_TS folder containing the video files. Then choose a location on your HDD for the VIDEO_TS folder to be placed in.

When shrink is done you should have a VIDEO_TS folder containing the video files at the location you chose.

Double click on the NERO smartstart icon and choose nero burning rom from the applications tab/section to run it. Follow the guides for burning the files to disk.

burning with nero
http://www.dvd-guides.com/content/view/40/59/
or
http://www.dvdrdigest.com/articles/article_nero_dvd_burning_page1.html

I would recommend rolling back to a previous version,
If not you will have to save as a folder to your hard drive,
then burn manually.

That version of NERO does not allow the auto-burn with dvd shrink,
causing you the TRF error.

Cheers!
