Which version of Nero do you have? I am using 7 ultra and I can't adjust the speed either, the box to change it is grey and does not allow me to change it and it stays at maximum speed.

In Shrink go to Edit
File I/O
Make sure you have a check mark next to Enable Burning W/ Nero
Now when you go to Backup:
Target Device
Select Backup Target
Make sure you select the Burner
Then go to Burn Settings
Set the speed there

Also make sure that you have a blank DVD in your drive or Nero will set the speed to it's default.

The option that Car Mike quoted should work, however I only have two options there Max and 16X so it does not work as my Burner is 8..
I am using an OEM version of Nero that came with the Burner its 6 something??
The reason why I want a slower burn is I am getting too many CRC Errors when I burn at 8

You have to follow LOCOENGS instructions, you have to put a blank media in your burner and select burn target device before you select the burn speed.
Have you done that?

That is excatly what I am doing and I only have two options??
Max Speed and 16X!!!!!It is obviously the 6.. something OEM version of Nero that I am running, however the problem is not insurmountable my dear friend,I now Rip to a HD Folder, and use CloneDVD2 to write, which allows me to burn at any speed, and I will say this...by burning at 2X I don,t seem to be getting the CRC Errors that I was detecting with DVdinfo...a pain in the Ass for sure, but they all where playable on our Standalone DVD Players, but they would "Hiccup" and "Fart" and do all sorts of insidious things..lol lol ...
Thanks for all your input anyway, and once again Kia Ora from New Zealand..

Congrats on getting a working copy, can you burn at a higher speed with CloneDVD, if so I would keep upping the ante until you start seeing the flaws again.

Will do that and see what sped the CRC Errors start occuring at..
Ok its a bit more fiddley than Nero but after using Mitsibishi DVD-R DVDs at $2.00 NZ Each it was getting a bit costly with Nero..
Is there any other things I should lok for that can cause a DVD to Freeze and Shudder apart from CRC Errors??

A bad burn can cause it and also inexpensive blank media. Can you get Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden blank media in NZ. If you can are they reasonably priced?

Thanks Car Mike do you know I think I have been using "Crap Media"?
The Mitsubishi DVDs that I have been using have had a Fail Rate of Two out of Ten which stinks eh??
I noticed with the last one I did that you could see the "Silver Stain" on the outside of the Burn Area and looking back the CRC Errors may have been all caused by Bad Media??
These Mitsi DVDs are not cheap down here either at $2.00NZ each..
Before that I usually used Princos and dont think I had the same failure rate...\Ill price the Media you suggested Mike and post a price soon in NZ Dollars...I have an Idea Verbaten are expensive
I like also to use Inkjet Printable DVDs as I have a Pixma 5000 that Prints to DVD (an option for that Printer that may not be available in North America
TX everyone too for your learned opinios...Kia Ora

Good Luck and let us know how it comes out. Look for both brands I suggested as one might be on sale.

Car Mike may I ask which country you are in??
I will be looking at Verbatim Media today as we dont seem to have the Taiyo one down here in New Zealand...
With the wisdom of hindsight, perhaps it was the Media I was useing all along??
I also had many many CRC Errors when I was using a brand called Princo, however they were so dam cheap at about $.50Cents NZ, that I just tossed the bad ones and did another...
One thing I did notice in another posting was the danger of using stick on Labels,I did this a lot before I had my Print To CD Printer but now realise that this seems to be a No No too..

dannykiwi,
I am in the US. You might try one of your Online ordering companies to get the Taiyo Yudens. Princo's are bad and labels unless they are applied exactly are the kiss of death. You might try now to copy the DVD's w/ the labels on them to better media. I just use a CD case and print up the DVD's covers using cdcovers:

Very popular:~)!
My first and last (first DVDs I bought before I new what I was doing, before I knew about AD) batch of Imation were CMC Mag(same as most Memorex). 50% burn failure. I wouldn't put them in my burner again.
Piss me off, and I Will ignore You!
