Your plex drive should booktype using your plex tools. Set it and forget it.
Cheers.

The only thing booktyping does is help out with stand alone player compatability, usually no other issues. This booktyping will take care of the majority of those so-called: No disc inserted/Dirty disc/and some of them will say wrong region.
Compatability only.If you have issues after a drive recognizes them and starts to play them, then something else is wrong.
I have the links to other booktyping utilities like qsuite 2.0 and Lite-on.Try googling for Plextools if you haven't gotten that utility.
Those +verbs are sweet. The +8x are my favorite, but hard to come by.The +16x verbs are also looking good.

hi - can anyone tell me how to bookset my dvd burner for +
i hear everyone talk about booktype etc. - i understand what it does
makes it a dvd-rom so most players play it - i been burning for years and i never made any changes to anything and they all work - so i like to know how i would change this booktype - where would i look to make the changes - i have a nec2500a burner - i use shrink - clonedvd2 - dvdfab - Nero - but mostly - AnyDVD - clonedvd2 and shrink -
i would assume that my burner and programs are already booktyped to +
but i just like to know how can i tell - where would i go look to see it
thanks

i just upgraded my firmware from the NEC site which is version 1.0A
i have dvdinfo pro - would i be able to tell with that program if the dvd i burned is seen as a DVD-ROM -- i belieave they are - i am just not sure how it became to set itself that way - in case i have problems down the line - i can double check it - but right now i dont have a clue where to check to see if its set to dvd-rom or not - and do i go about setting it to dvd-rom if i happen to loose the setting in the future
thanks

hi -- i believed all my dvds were being bookmarked as DVD-Rom all this time and i now i think they dont - i checked the disc after i burn it and says DVD+R - i havnt had problems using them and playing them on many different dvd players since today 99% are able to play all formats - but now i am curious on how i can get them to be bookmarked as DVD-Rom - since i do have a older player thats built into a tv - and they dont play in that one - i have a nec2500 and i upgraded to nec 1.0A and burns faster now with some dvds i use - i though when i use dvdshrink or clonedvd2 - that it would bookmark it as DVD-Rom as i ripped it to the harddrive - now i dont think thats the case - any information on how i can get my dvds to be bookmarked as DVD-Rom
thanks

@expresso, unfortunately, you cannot. Once they have been burned you cannot make changes later (unless they are rewritables, not recordables).
If you are talking about how to fix your firmware to bookmark, then see one of the AD masters. They can help where as I cannot.
Always looking for the good stuff.

i understand that i cant change the dvds that are already made - i am curious about any new burns i do -- if i should try to get it to bookmark as dvd-rom or should i just leave it as it is - also if i try to upgrade the firmware to make it bookmard - would it be ok since i already upgraded the lates from the nec site
thanks
if you have a link to the firmware which i can use to make it bookmark to dvd-rom - that be great
if i do upgrade to this hacked upgrade and i dont like it for some reason - would i be able to go back and use the one from the nec site ?
one more guestion which i just though about - i use drive image and made a image of my computer in case i have problems -- i restore to that last image -- since i just upgraded the firmware on my nec drive - the images i made dont have this new upgrade - so if i had to restore to one of my images - would my nec burner go back to the old firmware ? and if it does - can i reflash it and upgrade it again - ?
would that do any damage ?
thanks

expresso,
I gave you a link to some firmware you need and explained what you will need to do in order to bitset with your nec about 10 posts up. I don't know if you can flash back to official f/w or not but doubt there will be reason to do so. Just check liggy & dees f/w page from time to time for updated bitsetting capable f/w.

expresso, your burners firmware is stored inside the burner. That's why some call updating your firmware "flashing your drive." If you were to format Windows or do a system restore, your burners firmware would not be affected.

ok thanks - i wasnt sure - i never touched my burner because i didnt want to ruin the warranty but its over 3 years now and i want to do it now to bitset -- i wasnt even aware that it wasnt - i though it was --
i am curious to find out if once i bitset to drdrom - if they would work with a dvd player thats build into my fathers tv - so its easlier for him to use and wont have to get another dvd player -- besides that tv
i havnt had any problems with all the newer dvd players that play all the formats
thanks
