sorry people, been away from this thread for some time.
Milkman: i would suggest you make sure your internet cnnection is shared, as that is the main aspect of all these problems. Make sure the firewall is disabled or allows the access of your psp to scan the details. If not you could enter the details in manually, go to start-run type cmd, and then type ipconfig/all, get the details and try entering them in.
Sorry again fro being away from this thread.

Hey People,

Is it true that if you don't use Wifi Max for a while, all your settings will reset and you have to set it up again? Cos I didn't use it for about 2 weeks and now I have to set it up again, and its giving me the same trouble as before. So, I've enabled "Internet Connection Sharing", disabled my firewall and I've tried inputting the keys that PieceFull posted on page 6 on my PSP (which helped me connect on the net the last time) but didn't work. I think i've tried everything but can you give me some reminders plz so I can get back on the net.

Thanks!

Hey, I had some troubles with the "DNS Error".

I went to the link for CodeJunkies.com, did exactly what it told me and it finally worked. I made a couple mistakes with the instructions, but once I did understand everything it told me I had a solid internet connection. Good luck.

once again all the advice i can give you is, even if you do eveything right sometimes it doesnt work, it works by chance, if you understand what im babbling on about. Keep trying over and over again, until it works, give it some time, its a very cheap piece of kit, so itll will take sme thought!

for the kid who lost his software, try this thread mate:http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/417853

Mine worked great outa the box for wii but when i tried to connect the psp it kept giving ip timeout errors after about 4-5 hours of unsucessful attempts i loaded up the psp max media manager hit options, used the get WiFi drivers button and downloaded the new drivers, when you go to install theres a couple of files that cant be overwritten/deleted so reboot to delete the files, then rerun the update after reboot, reset the setting back to what i had and it worked perfectly maybe something to try if u havent so far

Hi I bought the stupid Wifi Max about 9 months ago to play on X Link with Monster Hunter PSP. I installed it and got it working fine. I stopped playing it around 6 months ago and deleted out all the crap programs it had. A few days ago a bought a DS and a new Pokemon game (yes Pokemon and I'm proud of it). I found out it has an online area and decided to pull out the old Wifi Max and curse at the computer while trying to get it to work again. Well I went through all the set ups and such at the beginning of this FAQ and once again find myself at the unavoidable brick wall for this piece of crap device. I got the signal working and got it past the limited to no connectivity stage and now find myself at a new spot.
Signal: No Signal
Status: Connected
I am stumped with this. Anyone know what to do know?

Hey,
Bought a PSP wifi max Thursday, recieved today.
Could figure out anyway of even coming close to getting it working until I read infinite_fire's guide thing. Followed everything there to a tee was confident I has sorted the problem, then finally, when push came to shove and I 'tested connection' I got the same message I've had everytime whih is "A connection error has occured. The access point was not detected."
HELP!!

Hi, I signed up to this site purely because of this thread - and my evil WiFIMAX!

Like everyone else here, I'm having problems setting up a connection. I have a Voyager 105 USB modem and have a DSL Max conenction which averages at 7.6mb - I'm one of the lucky ones I guess. :)

Anyways, I followed the instructions to the letter, but I get nothing. I was simply told that there was no signal and it wasn't connected.

I have since p;layed round with every setting I could possibly find, and I eventually found that if I turn off Windows firewall, my DS will find the connection - and when it does I am told the conenction is excellent by the computer - but then it tests the conenction, and I am told:

Error Code: 52000
Unable to obtain an IP address. Move within range of an access point or check DHCP settings. For help, visit www.nintendowifi.com.

I've checked DHCP and that is enabled so that isn't the problem. I've checked out nintendowifi.com and that's useless, so all i'm left with is the IP. Anyone know how to fix it?

I've actually created threads about this on a few other forums I know of, and have been told in one of them that I need a wireless router - is this true? I bought this Dongle specifically because I didn't want to fork out 40 quid - 17 quid for a Dongle sounded better! :p

The instructions don't mention anything at all about needing a router, so if you need one i'm gonna write a nasty letter to the company that made the Dongle for lying to me.

Thanks for your help, guys!

Hello i just got this wifi max and i sat here and read this whole forum and i can not seem to get it to work i use a netgear router that is not wireless and also a highspeed internet "COMCAST" when i go to network places and then right click , properties , advanced , under internet connection sharing i go and click allow other network users to connect throught this computers internet connection.... it says an error ocurred while internet connection sharing was being enabled

Internet connection sharing cannot be enabled.
A LAN connection is already configured with the IP address
that is required for automatic IP addressing

im thinking it is doing this due to the router i have tryed getting this to work at my friends house and it worked with out even fixing anything but he has no router i just pluged in the WIFI MAX and made the connection on the PSP it was that easy but at my house with the router i can not seem to get this to work please help me out here thatnks

Okay, quoted from my own thread:

Okay, so I never realized how many problems people were having with this device until I started having my own. I got it in the mail today and I've been trying to install it on my old crapbox computer, but it refuses to do so. I'm running 98SE which is supposed to be compatible. The problems comes when I try to install the drivers. The drivers are there, but it says that it's missing the file:" ZD11BU98.sys" is can't be found. The program included on the disc called ZDWLAN won't even open. It opens and closes right back out. Any help would be much appreciated. When I look at the devices profile under the control panel, it says that the device is already installed, but has "a problem". I can't get the driver to fully install. Please help because I'm pretty much at a loss.

guys i have a solution i found this out a while ago but the solution is sooo simple all you have to do is on your psp go to settings-system settings-restore default settings. this should allow you to use the dongle to access the web and play online games.

Hi, I brought the wifi maz form ebay, after tinkering at it, got it to work for 5 minutes, then got ip time out, I gave up on it until i saw a tutorial on youtube, so I thought I have a crack at it, After a couple of hours, reading various insrtuctions, it worked, it fucking worked, couldn;t belive it, i think the problem for me was that i had firewall on my psp wifi connection so no signal was going out, turned it off, enabled sharing and PSP internet worked, it rules, I wnt downstairs and the internet worked, downloaded wallpaper of googles and videos like family guy, full episodes on dailymtion, INTERENT RULES, Thanks to everyone who contributed to various tutorials.
