Firstly you should edit out your Nero Serial number, begins with 1A22...
Quote:
Recorder: <SONY DVD RW DRU-800A> Version: KY04
Your firmware is two steps out of date. Upgrade here:

http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_result.php?kaj=1&isces

Your Nero version is okay, but could also be update to the latest version. Get it here: http://ww2.nero.com/nero6/enu/nero-up.php

You have too many things running at one time so that most of your system resources are already being used. Shut some things down, and don't multi task during a burn process.

Last address to be written: 2276015 (505:46.65, 4445MB)
You are burning too close to the edge of the media. Set your target size to 4300 and this will help tremendously. When you burn right to the edge of the media this will cause freezes and pixelations.

Disc Manufacturer: CMC MA - G. AE1

This media will be a source of great trouble. CMC is noted for poor quality control, uneven dye spread, and is just plain crap. For the same money you can get Taiyo Yuden, Verbatim, Maxell, Sony, or Fuji media which is notibly better. Changing media type is important.

The drive does not recognize the media that you are using. The firmware update should resolve this issue.

I would slow the burn down to 4x until you have made several backups correctly. A slower burn during the learning process will give you better results.

InCD is known to cause issues with burning. I would uninstall your Nero and reinstall without InCD.

Do this and report back

cheers.

dbomb71,
Go to the site below and then look for: SONY DVD RW DRU-800A
You will see KY06 that is under the burner. That is the updated firmware. Click on it ( make sure no other processes are running) and then follow the instructions. If you are not sure how to do it then get a friend do it for you as it really is easy

@dbomb71

All of the replies above are right. You need to update your firmware to the latest possible, firmware increase burning performances and media compatibility. CMC MAG is one of the worst media in the market now-a-days, it's inferior when comparing to YUDEN, Verbatim and Hitachi's Maxell (MIJ). And yes, you'll need to get rid of InCD, go to Nero's website and get InCD clean tool to completely clean/wipe out InCD from your system. It (InCD) conflicts with Nero and therefore, you're likely to produce "coasters" down the road.

Below is an example from a successfully burned log taken from mine. You can take a closer look at mine and compare to yours. Hopefully, you'll notice a few things in there (i.e. yours had the KEY_MEDIUM_ERROR, write error, InCD drivers, and the last address to write on the target, etc.) Notice, how I have mine set to 4461MB with genuine media like YUDEN000T02 and it still is a success?

Quote: CMC MAG is one of the worst media in the market now-a-days, it's inferior when comparing to YUDEN, Verbatim and Hitachi's Maxell (MIJ).

That's strange b/c the brand that I am using is Maxell DVD-R 4.7 GB Ink Jet Printable Surface. But now that I've updated my firmware, maybe it will recognize the media type?

Where do I go to change the target size setting to 4300 so that I am not burning too close to the edge of the media? I've looked around but can't seem to find it.

Plus I've looked at the burn speed settings and I don't see an option for 4x. There are 2 options lower than 4x and then I see "maximum". How can I make sure that it will burn at 4x?

Thanks!

Yours coded as CMC MAG. I'm a DVD+R person "book typing" into DVD-ROM. My motto is to get only "Made In Japan" media for Hitachi Maxell and Taiyo Yuden. Otherwise, I wouldn't want to waste my money getting any. Unless it's MCC003 or MCC004, then it's all good, but that's another story.

To be able to change your burn speed to 4X, you need to insert your blank into your burner inprior to the burning process.

Uninstall Nero Version 6.6.1.4 And then D/L Nero cleantools and wipe that version off your computer. Install version 6.6.0.18 and go no higher as your version has bugs.

Those are the only 3 things I see and they're all related to the media. The "KEY_MEDIUM_ERROR" stated that your burner doesn't like the media it's burning to.

Again, it coded as CMC MAG and yes... that's one of the worst media ever in the market. No offense, but it's wise to try other high quality media (try the DVD+R) from Taiyo Yuden, Verbatim "advanced azo" or Hitachi Maxell (Made In Japan only).

I agree, your drive does not like that media. I would make a change and see if that corrects the issue.

Where would you guys recommend to get these DVD's? I still have at least 40 of these discs left so I'm going to try to not let them go to waste. For the time being, it seems that closing all apps is working for now. I just don't understand it. It was working just fine... no problems whatsoever. I was able to do almost anything as Shrink and Nero ran in the background. Then one day I had a power outage while burning a dvd and it has never been the same. Thanks for all of your help guys!

Power outage ... ugh! I bought an APC battery up and now I don't worry about power problems. Every computer at my work has one and I've been saved several times by mine. Not too much of an expense for some peace of mind.

An APC Battery up might be something I may look into. We don't really have much problems with power outages but man, that windstorm was pretty bad!
