When I downloaded the trial version of AnyDvd,I was burning movies without a problem,using Dvd Shrink.I recently purchased it and everytime I burned a movie,it would freeze up in my computer and show error on my DVD Player.I have a compaq with 160 gig hard drive, 512 mb of memory,and an AMD 3400+ processor.I recently downloaded Picasa to my computer as well as Avast antivirus.Could I be using up too much memory?

whats your computer doing when you are trying to burn.What applications are running,
press ctrl+alt+del and tell us how many processors are running.

Are you saying that your computer is freezing during the burn, or the disc after the burn?

If during the burn, you may want to open the case and blow the dust out of it. Sometimes overheating will crash a system.

If after the burn, what kind of media are you using and what speed are you burning at?

I checked the task manager and I noticed that Compaq Connections Agent was running all the time.I turned it off,burned The Longest Yard with DVD Shrink And AnyDVD.Came out perfect.The only thing that was shown running on the task manager was DVD Shrink.I also disabled my antivirus.Before I posted the message,I burned 3 different movies with DVD Shrink and AnyDVD.My DVD player and computer couldn't read the disks I had burned.Is there anything else I should do?Thanks for the suggestions.

I spoke too soon.Halfway during playback,the picture started breaking up and skipping on my DVD player.I'm using Philips DVD+R and TDK DVD+R.

Another possibility is that I had two upgrades of AnyDVD since I purchased it.Could it have something to do with that?

@Art90037, Friend it sounds as if it could be three items: Burn speed, media, and the possiblity that the stand alone doesn't like the media (brand or the +R/-R). If using +R be sure to book type the media to -R or Dvd Rom if your burner allows it. I have used TDK, never used Phillips...I stick to Taiyo Yuden and Verbatims as my media choice and have flawless burns every time. Once in a while my Denon2200 kind of acts up on certain burns, but all the other players play the media perfect. Just some thoughts, hope they can help.

@Art90037
Your new problem sounds like those Philip & TDK's discs - definitely not 'A' list. See who the manufactured them - here's a prog if needed:
http://dvd.identifier.cdfreaks.com/
They do not always use quality manufacturers.
Switch to Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim. In store look for Verbatim or made in japan Fuji or Sony - which will usually id as Taiyo Yuden. Also make sure you are not burning at max speed and your drive's firmware is up to date.

@binkie 7, thanks for the reminder about the Sony's and FuJi's (Which I use a ton of and they code as Taiyo Yuden...simply awe-some). Have a good evening.

Beats me!
I have used DVD Shrink before. Just re-installed windows XP on my laptop [VAIO FS500, sony-schmony] and tried to run DVD Shrink again. But not one blink! Installation seems to go fine, but when I double- click its icon, the hourglass shows for 1 sec. and nothing else happens. Tried it without Antivirus, firewall and pestpatrol running in the background.
Who has the magic word?

@CuzzNed
Probably not the magic word but let's try uninstalling it then do a new download and reinstall. Can get from here:
http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/dvd_rippers/dvd_...
Then if that doesn't work - run a registry cleaner - maybe a comflict is going on the the new xp install?

To binkie7,

Thnx,
Tried it, but that didn't work.
Found the magic word at: http://forum.digital-digest.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=45596

I had to disabled DEP [Data Execution Prevention] under system/advanced/performance in order for DVD Shrink to run.
