Ok, I've used DVD shrink for about 90% of the time, and now I'm having problems.
It takes me over 8 minutes to complete the "Analysing" stage of the dvd; before it would only take me 1-2 minutes tops. Please Note, it takes just as long to read the files of a hard drive as it does a disc.
When I comes to burning within DVD Shrink, it takes 2-3 hours...normally it only used to take me 1 hour tops. This is @ 8x speed.
dvd shrink will not burn a disc it will rip most movies but not all the result must be burned by another program check to see if your drive is in DMA mode notPIO open up device manager and deleat the seconday IDE controller then reboot your computer windows will reinstall the controller and turn on DMA mode the rate that it takes to burn your dvds is much to long even an hour is a little much
I have this problem aswell, i use to have a pioneer dvd burner and it was quick as, now my new LG one takes so long, about 6 mins to analyize and 2-3 hours to backup, and an hour to burn. anyone know what this could be? i only have 256mb ram and 10gigs left on my hdd, could that be a problem??
@nofxrelig
Yep that can definitely slow things down a bit! More ram is definitely recommended - shrink is very cpu intensive.
Make sure your in dma mode, do a system defrag run a disc cleanup & clear up some space.
actually, I have burnt copies using DVD-Shrink; When the Disc is done being compressed, it asks me to insert a blank media, and it does the rest...however, Its burnt using Nero I beleive, but its in the same interface/program if you catch my drift.
As far as my ram/memory goes, I have 768mb of ram, and two drives...depending upon the drive I specify, I have roughly 30gb of space
DVD Shrink is the only program I have slow reads/burns with. I've tested many other programs out, and they read/burn @ much much faster rates then DVD Shrink.
I've tested "Shrink to 5" to compress, and its producing about a 40-50 mintue shrink, as opposed to Shrinks 2-3 hours...
Now, does anyone know whats going on? I find it odd myself, but I'll live....I just miss DVD-Shrink :p
