i need help i tried to install the Sid 4.0 and went through all ur instructions adnd then tried to go onto xboxlive when it said no connection so i went to trouble shooting and then my xbox froze.
so i turned it off then went to memory and sundenly the whol xbox dash board changed and looked like a pc now so i freaked out and went to the memory and deleted the installer splintercell and ultamate x and then turned off my xbox .
then this morning i went on and everything i deleted EXCEPT ultamate x was deleatedcan u plz help me get rid of ultamate x and my xbox bactk to normal otherwise im just going to call microsoft and have them compleatly reset my whole xbox and i realy dont want to erase every bit of memory so plz help me solve this problem cuz i cant even play any games on my xbox or xboxlive

ok the thing is that the dash is gonna look completely diff. trust me ok?
second my first time i freaked out to i was so scared i also deleted my filez and the unleash would not go away! but if you want it off you need to put the filez back on the mem. card and go to file explorer on your dash and and after that click backup there should be somthing else to click after that it says MS click it and go to ms dash at the bottom.
this will bring you to the original xbox dash!
then you copy the filez back to your hdd
put mechassault, splinter cell ect. in and load up the modding screen.
if you want to take off the softmodded dash you need to click uninstall softmod this will take it off!
THIS IS FOR LIVE WITH SOFTMOD!
and if you wanted to get on live with the new dash you put on (softmodded) then you need to change ur ip to DHCP!
then save your settings and turnn off xbox, then hit the eject button to power on NOTE: the eject button (BIG ONE)
then put your game in pretty fast while the black screen and the green x are still on! push it in the game will load and then you can get on live!

have all issues been solved???? im gus738 from http://www.xbox-hq.com/html my bud nknave made this softmod along with with another one ...... so if any futher questions are needed i can explained detailed as i know how it works and this and that.... as for the guy made this tut ... no ofense but maybe you should get more details before lauching something.. althou this is very good so props but on this step
Step 9: This is a KEY step! Now that the installer has loaded, go to 'CREATE MS BACKUP'. This is incase you want to unmod your Xbox for any reason/technical reason.
Step 10: This is another essential step! Go to 'CREATE EEPROM BACKUP'. If you do not do this step, the installer will NOT let you move on. After you click that, a new menu will come up. In that menu, click 'CREATE EEPROM BACKUP'. When that is done, click 'BACK TO MAIN MENU'.
if you do not do CREATE MS BACKUP OR EEPROM BACKUP the mod will not pass requirements and cannot softmod ...
for a dual boot options is required the latest ms dash 5960 as for single boot it is NOT require to have the latest ms dash.....
you can update the dash by putting a newer game or by softmoding it single boot then run aid 3 ( dont ask about slayers its gone and its gone !) and install ms dash 5960 as primary dash or e/backup/ms and then you can uninstall it normaly by loading linux and re softmoding this time dual boot .....
sid 4.0 and sid 4.5 are ver much alike only side difresenes are : 4.0 became buggy for pal users and the ms dash would load up but not all options were avilble ... and the eeprom was patch so for say it wouldnt allow you to run a program that can unlock your hd and create a brick xbox ....
4.5 was removed of the eeprom patch as this was causing the errors /glitches althou these both sid 4.0 and 4.5 are the safest softmods out their to date , i would recommend 4.0 for users that do not play xbox live or are very nooob to this....
also 4.5 will load up xbox live section of the ms dash as where 4.0 loods the main dash but not all options are avabile.....
if you get no connection or somting similir on 4.5 then its because you have it unpluged to the net acess or no gamertags are found ...

oh and on 4.5 if you wanna acess ms dash to change settings or somting then just run the ms dash via modded mode. red means softmod is active green means its safe for live
ADDED: i thought i added a few more things..... both of the 2 files game save exploit + the linux installer have to be ziped . and if you run into error 21 when you try to run linux then that means you missing 1 of the 2 files needed to softmod
if you guys wipe out your 2 files and cannot run anything then hotswap will fix it all
fianly if you think you really need more help or wanna know all their is to xbox modding then go to http://www.xbox-hq.com/html and we will better assist you as that is where all this stuff is about :D
this softmod will do it all the xbox ver from 1.0 to 1.6 b or anything newer. it will do every xbox their is

when you lauch the linux it should have create eeprom backup create ms back up install softmod etc etc...

so you uninstalled the softmod? or you got the softmod working? and im glad my info is helping here..... just joined this site when i saw that they were using my buds softmod and im like hey thats nknaves softmod installer lets have a look :P ..... but if you wanna do more homework and lern theirs all to xbox modding in any way the i strongly recommend checking out http://www.xbox-hq.com/html

I solved my black and white problem simply by upgrading the SID software from 4.0 to 4.5

is anyone else having problems? i think Unholykid and gamerboy did not get their issues resolved. AND please guys keep this thread only to this softmod
( do not ask about mooding halo 2 or pirte games or anything that is off topic , this is just for softmoding the xbox noting else . )

Yeah, I am having issues.
I had to install Evox single boot, as my MS dashboard is evidently a little old.
Anyway, I cannot play DVDs. I push play media from DVD, I see the EVOX symbol, and it just goes right back to the first load screen. What am I doing wrong?
I am downloading aid 3, but what do I do with it once I have it? Burn to a disc and install it that way?
The download comes with al these things

yes aid 3 will do it al...
if you have your retail hd then bearly 1 game would fit .. ( i can help you upgrade ur hd even if you dont have a chip ! )
install dvd2xbox ( for games burning and dvd burnin) xbmc and dvdx2 dongle free dvd player ... you only need those i mentioned....

single boot is : only 1 dashboard will turn on regardless of pressing big button or small
dual boot . you can load 2 dashboards.. for example dual boot=retail on power up you can run unleash x and while on open tray you can run retail ms dash ( which is now safe for live.
red = mod is active NOT LIVE SAFE !
green= retail SAFE FOR LIVE .

Hi,
Iam trying to soft mod my xbox using the splinter cell and Action replay. I went thru xbins and downloaded the SID program.
I copied one file (zip) onto the memory card but when I try and copy the other it says "not enough space on memory card"
Please can someone help me to do the softmod

i thought you were going to stay on hq? trust me if anyone knows better then its us.. we made that softmod . but 2 answer ur question ur mem card doesnt have enough space ... did you transferd ziped files ? both 2 ? i didnt see you thread on hq .

I am on HQ, right now in fact.
I copied the files over one at a time and it all worked OK thanks. I am on HQ trying to get help on my hard drive swap out which is proving to be a real pain.

Hey I have the SID4.NK.Launcher file and when I try to drag it over to my Ar screen, it says that its not a valid xbox save. So I can't do it. Can someone help?
