i know this is a stupid question but how is SID 4.0 different than 4.5... I know there are differences I am just curious as to what they are...
@dogsniper- did you install the framework? If so try reinstalling it. I have Windows XP on a Emachine and dothalo works just fine for me.

in short .... sid 4.0 has a " eeprom patch " which means it would hide your real eeprom so you dont acidently unlock your hd ... so for say you try to run configmagic on sid 4 it wont let you... how is this good? say your lil bro or sis or cousin ( they are noobs to xbox) and they want to play so they just mess with it ... sid 4 is more proctive then sid 4.5
due to its eeprom patch 4.0 was buggy for PAL users and RARELY some NTSC games wouldnt play without doing some messing with softmod ...

but for noobs or to protect your xbox best i'd suggest sid 4.0 but for xbox live users or PAL users i'd suggest sid 4.5

Hi.
I can get the save files onto the Xbox and get the SiD4 menu, but when I try to do this step:
"This is a KEY step! Now that the installer has loaded, go to 'CREATE MS BACKUP'. This is incase you want to unmod your Xbox for any reason/technical reason."
I get this error message:
Batch process failed.
The last item was: FOUND EXISTING SOFTMOD
Action: Rename
I have no Idea what to do now. Any help would be appreciated.

map mods are pretty easy to make with dothalo, but if you are really lazy, you should check out a site like halomods.com. It is mainly PC mods and I have never tried any. There are also some great tutorials on how to make some really cool mods on http://tutorials.moddb.com/169/List-of-100-Halo-2-Tuts/ (edit this if I'm not supposed to give an adress.) PM me for some more cool sites.

if you want map mods you need to go to a place that has ppf's and use ppf o matic to attach them to the maps on your hdd!
you cant find actual modded maps on the internet cause it is illegal!

Ok I got the files loaded on my xbox ran the linux install created ms backup and eeprom backup perfect went to install softmod choose dual boot NTSC clicked on Knaves Ndure open tray retail choose enleash x on the the second screen it says press A to check if yours MS Dash is 5960 if you get a rename error please install single or dual games save third screen I get Failure process failed, the last item was: . Action Rename What should I do ?

Not sure the sysytem settings on the xbox menu say K 1.00.5830.01 --- D 1.00.5659.03 does this mean I have to update my MS dashboard also what the superior dashboard Unleash X or Evolution X please a short explanation on which dashboard to select thanks

OK,
You have an older version on the xbox. You can update your dash or as it says just use a single boot.
Do you intend on using xbox live ?

yeah that means older ver... you have D 1.00.5659.03 and you need the 5659 to go 5960 and to do that just play a newer game like halo 2 etc etc....
or if you dont plan on playing xbox live then just put single boot .... dont put dual = gamesave why? because on game save mode its not scripted nor protected by anything and you can break the mod. and yes unleash x all the way.

hey i have looked at millions of tuts and for some reason none of my games will load the linux. I get it on my hard drive for 007 and it does not read i have serial num 1448507 not plat edtion and then i tried the splinter cell soft mod samething and i have non plat edtion my dash is 5960.
IM also useing a modded xbox to transfer my files to memory card not ar
