sry for being such a noob, but thnx a bunch for the help. i'm trying to FTP XBMC onto my box again, it took almost 3 hours last time, so i'll check in to c if it works, maybe do some google work too. btw, how will the main xbox files get onto the new HDD in the first place to initially boot up the box?

if ftping the apps and dont appear then reinstall the dashboard that should fix issue , basicly its going to be a linux ( not windows mode) and its going to make a microsoft dashboard on your C , put the real EEPROM.bin so you can LOCK the hard drive , then from there if you want to transfer your E stuff then do so , but it takes longer and probly wont fit on a cdr anymore , thats why insted i just FTP the stuff afterwards

damn, i don't feel like such a nerd anymore, lol. ok, i get the idea though, o XBMC is working now too, i just had to get a compiled version off #xbins. ok, got any ideas on apps to rip DVDs to my hard drive? btw, do i actually need to lock a new HDD? sry probably another stupid question...

I have a xbox v1.6 which is currently has a hard mod, and is working with a larger harddrive. My problem is that it does not take much to knock the mod chiip off (soderless) and then I have to open the box and get everythign set agian. I would like to put this softmod on instead but wanted to check on a couple things. I am thinking that I can skip the whole action replay/memory card step and just FTP the save files to my HD. Should the files just go the the c:\ partition? Also, once I do this I am planning on removing the chip and then just run though the regular softmod process. Assuming this will not be a problem, I am wondering if I will run into any problems since I already have a 120 gb harddrive? Also, I currently use the XBMC dash. Can I edit the boot prefrences once I get it modded to run this dash instead? Thanks for any help.

kaf27033 : yep you can FTP the files but not to C they go to E/udata ....
the bigger hd is not a issue as long as its locked... ALL SOFTMODS REQUIRE LOCKING THE HARD DRIVE , this is a NOTE for EVERYONE....
as far as upgrades on performace on xbox , such as what mods have you done?
it will be safe and everyting will go solid as long as chip + softmod dont conflict HOWEVER i recommend you go to xbox hq just to get more helped... as i for 1) not a modchiper expert 2) i am 1 ideal 1 head vs 10 + heads that know alot on this on xbox hq .com
3) they will tell you all you need to know as that website is more resourful....
onthedge : yes you need to lock it otherwise you will end up in error code 05 ... hd unlocked..
if you lock it with wrong key or ( friends eeprom.bin) then you get a error 06 ...

ok, i tried using the slayers cd to rebuild a HDD and then locked it afterwards. it came up with error 9, the parameters aren't correct for the HDD. it was a 2G HDD i wanted to test in case i destroyed it, and it came up witht hat error. does that mean that a bigger HDD will work or won't the way i did it?

Hey nice tutorial...Anyways here is my problem i have the right ms dash version 5960 and i tried every Known Mechassault out there and just cant get it to work then i tried it on my friends xbox with the same dashboard version and worked fine i was just woundering if its my kernel cause i tried everything even other mods still dont work keeps saying uknown in mechassault the save shows up just cant run it.....is there i way i can upgrade my kernel or some sort or tutorial u can point me too searched the forum like crazy still no luck.......and yeah my kernel version is 4817 Please help me out....Thanks in advance...

onthedge : DO NOT USE slayers/evox OLD OLD OLD OLDER then anyting i know METHOD!!!....
to upgrade hard drives use xboxhdm1.9 go to xbox hq ask them

pb4life08 : this softmod works with EVERY known xbox includin the ones up to date, it is your memory card borrow another one and try it out , or try 007 game is easier and better

I used the same memory card for my friends xbox and worked fine and i also tried it the other way transfered it with a moded xbox to the memory card still dont work im pretty sure its the kernel.....But ill try to get a hold of the other games and try them.....

kernals are never a reason , you can delete all gamesaves from this paticular game, but i'd try 007 very fun game
ALSO make sure its a NON platinum edition

Yeah its non-platinum, ill try and get a hold of bond. But why does it work with my friends same dash Version used the same memory card and the same game and the same installer.....I dont know its one of the seven wounders of the world, thanks for all the help.....Ill try that 007..and ill post back here any special versions on that 007

to be honest , who knows ,hell you can even softmod it with another game UN mod it and re mod it with this current game your having issues and i bet it wont have issues next time ,....
iduuno but im pretty sure 007 will do it ,

I believe the softmod files have been deleted off of upfile, for abuse they say. So if someone could reupload the files that would be great. I got the files from Azzids tutorial on Sevensins buit dont know if they are the same. Thanks in advance.

hey, im doing the softmod thing to my xbox and when i try to load the checkpoints for the linux files on splinter cell it says that tech support needed in like 10 different languages. anyone know what to do?

let me guess on the top left corner a 2 digit comes up and says 21
haha your missing 1 of the 2 files NEEDED ... its a 2 file system ... the linux laucher and the game save of your game ....
grab those 2 and put them on your xbox and you should not get error 21 .

Thanks for the response gus738. One more question. When I FTP the files to the e:/udata... should I extract the rar file that has the save in it or just transfer the whole file "sid4.nk.loader.OO7AUF.rar". The reason that I ask is that I am not sure if there is a extraction proess that happens when the game get transfered from the action replay to the xbox HD. Thanks

h3llraz0r : use the submenu of the linux not the actuall picture, do you given only the option to delete save?
or what problem you get?
Note : have them .rar or .zipped depending how they are conpressed.
kaf27033 : they are conpressed so you want to extract it and transfer the E/udata entire folder
yet like i said im not 100% sure might as well ask hq.....
