Thanks for the info, I somehow knew BB was gonna have those 50 packs of Fuji's on sale. When I was in there yesterday they had three shelves of them, lol.

Edit: just noticed the price on those Memorex, makes me think twice :o

nice list~ :)

best buy is the ONLY place i would go this upcoming week...the Verbatim lightscribes are good (for those that need lightscribe discs) and the fujifilm 50-pack is good IF you get the MIJ spindles~

thanks

docTy~

p.s. i'd avoid the other media like the plague...pioneer burners are VERY good IMHO, i have the older dvr-109 and it's my FASTEST burner to date, very solid build...the only thing about pioneers that people should be aware of is that they require modified firmware to enable booktyping (dvr-109/110D), but if you are only going to use DVD-R format, then the Pioneer is an EXCELLENT choice of burner for ya~ :) not sure which model is on sale @ best buy after the $37 instant rebate you mentioned, if it's the 110D, using official firmware, it auto booktypes DVD+R DL only~! if you want all your other DVD+R to be bitset, you will need to use modified firmware~

meltstorm- INDEED! It seems that the fuji-Mij's are getting to be scarecer and fewer But you got some so that's great ! might go check BB shelves soon to see if there are any MIJ's Or maybe I'll just wiat for good online sale on Taiyo's been reading the post about the sony Mij's & Mit's Wite the Octagonal vs. the round spacer @ wallyworld ! Not sure if the local wally's carries sony dvd media in spindle quantities but worth checking out I suppose especially if they're Japanese sony's ! Good luck & happy Burning!

It is the DVR-R100B5PK - That's what the ad says. Is that a good burner because I really need a new one and $50 is a good price. My Plextor PX-712A is really starting to mess up...it is starting to spit out bad burns and the tray is all wobbly now because I have kicked the tray on accident a couple times when it has been open. I think he's ready to retire.

I just went ahead and bought the BenQ DW1655. It seems like it got good reviews everywhere and it's much cheaper than Plextor's, only $50 on Newegg.

On another note, havne't gotten any more ads yet.

If you can handle rebates, NewEgg.com has 100pk Spindels of Verbatims for $27.05 (including shipping). Price is $46.99-$25 mail in rebate.

My stock of Verbs will allow me to handle a lull in sales for a couple more weeks. I think I will hold out till a sale hits at a local retail store.

Shouldn't this sale week start the 12th and end the 18th? Either way, I'm gonna get those Lightscribes! Woohoo, that'll be my first batch!

@jasper44

sorry for the late reply, i don't come online as much as i used to, work/duty calls @ the hospital~ :)

i don't know much about that particular model of pioneer that's on sale, sorry...i don't keep up with Pioneer drive past my own dvr-109 model and further up~

good choice on the Benq drive, while i don't do lightscribe personally, that is a quality drive and you should be very pleased...it's too bad about your lil "accident" w/ ur Plextor, is it still under warranty or are you way past that already? if you are still under warranty, i would def. get an RMA on it...simple replacement/swap with a brand new one~ :) only cost to you would be to ship it back to them, they pay for shipping it to you~

@everyone else, from bestbuy, IF you are a rewards member, i just got a coupon flier in the mail today for 12% off any single item from march 10-13, included in the coupon book is a 10% off for non-reward members (blank media is INCLUDED in this % off offer) i don't know WHO exactly gets these coupons sent to them via snailmail, BUT, i figure if you are on their mailing list, you should get em' :)

dvdnoobie- Food for thought ! I don't know what your price to buy vebatims locally is but if you have a Samsclub nearby they have or atleast they had Verbatim spindles of 100 for $ 29.88 or thereabouts I believe that they were 8x and the ones I saw were DVD-R but they may have DVD+R verbatims where you are ? I don't work for samsclub or wally world either just passing along the info ! Maybe worth checking out if it's available in your area & in the price range you are willing to pay ! Good luck & Charge it !LOL! peace!

BIGTOXY69, thanks for the info. I'll have to check with my wife to see if she renewed her Sam's Club membership. If so, I'll take a quick trip over there and see if I can find some Verb DVD+. I do have a Costco membership, but they mainly sell TDK.

@jim_dandy

not great i'm afraid, you got 2 choices...

ProdiscF02 OR RitekF1 :P

while i haven't tried EITHER one yet, and i don't plan on doing so, unless BOTH companies have improved upon their media since the 8x rated speed in the DVD-R format, i personally would not put my "valuables" on them...that's just MY opinion though, they both MIGHT turn out to be decent~

Thanks Doc
I saw some in Best Buy for fairly cheap but I saw the MIT so I figured before bringing home a bunch, I would ask the good Doctor.

Thanks Doc TY...Ill let someone else decide if they are good or not. ;)

teach and learn as ddp would say, i will be waiting right beside you and let someone ELSE "take the plunge" first~ :)

my personal motto has been "never pay a single dime for questionable media you've never tried before in the past, let someone else get burned first" :)

docTY

p.s. good seeing you again jim_dandy buddy~ been awhile~

Did a test on those 16X Fuji +R that I got to do the gkids stuff on. Here is two PlexTests, first is PI/PO and disk was burned at 8X

Not the best, but fair.

Second is TA Test for inner, middle and outer zone of the disk. It came up as good, again not the best but okay for my purposes.

Out of the ads I got early this week, there aren't any on sale. Maybe Staples or Office Max will have some.
