Having problems with DVD Shrink & DVD Decrypter...Please Help!

I'm having some trouble ripping a DVD. I tried to use DVD Decrypter first and I recieved an error message saying:

I/O Error:

Device: [2:0:0] HP DVD Writer 740b ED24 (E:)(ATA)

ScsiStatus: 0x02
Interpretation: Check Condition

CDB: 28 00 00 3D 78 30 00 00 01 00
Interpretation: Read (10)-Sector: 4028464

Sense Area: 70 00 05 00 00 00 00 0E 00 00 00 00 21 00 00 00 00 00
Interpretation: Logical Block Address out of Range

I then tried to use DVD Shrink to rip the disc an I got the following message:

DVD Shrink encountered an error and cannot continue.

Failed to read file "E:\"

The parameter is incorrect.


Can anyone offer any suggestions or help on how to resolve these issues with either of these programs. Thanks.

Sounds like neither one can handle the copy protection. Unfortunately both programs are no longer updated. DVDFab Decrypter (free) handles the new stuff. So rip w/ that then open the ripped files (video_ts folder) dvdfab decrypter created in shrink and proceed as usual.

Tried both of your suggestions. Still getting the same error messages with DVD Shrink & DVD Decrypter with AnyDVD running in the background. I also tried using DVDFab Decrypter and I got a message saying:

Get DVD information fail. 4096

Do you have any other suggestions? I'm very puzzled by this problem considering I have never seen anything like this before, and none of the programs seem to want to copy this disc? Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Here's a few more suggestions:
First try cleaning off the disc.

Try DVDFab again but make sure AnyDVD is turned off.

If that doesn't work then turn AnyDVD back on on try the 'ripper' part. Just right click on the red fox and pick 'rip video-dvd to hard disc'. Once ripped take those files and run thru shrink.

Or try anydvd's companion - clonedvd2 w/ AnyDVD - like shrink but has a burn engine. Also 21 free trial from link above.

If all that fails I would exchnage it for a new one - sounds like the disc may have a defect on it. BTW what movie is it?

I tried using your suggestions with CloneDVD, and I'm still getting error messages. My best guess is your assumption is correct with the disc being defected. I'm going to return it and try agian. Thanks for all the help, it was very insightful.

P.S. - The movie in question is Pink Floyd Live at Pompeii (Director's Cut)
