Hi, I am using Burn Soft Easy DVD Shrink 3.0.21 and an ripping a disk to my hard drive. I check the files after they are ripped and they are somewhat pixelated/break up a bit - but not too badly.

When I burn to disk with Nero and play on DVD player it sticks a lot and the quality very poor and breaks up a lot.

I am most concerned that the rip from DVD shrink has some quality issues. I think this might be the root of the problem.

Why might this be?

I have tried different media including Taiyo Yuden disks, and burned fairly slowly despite the fact I have a 16X burner.

I am very new to using DVD shrink, so I have no idea what the problem could be. I just followed the quick start guide...

Do I need to follow different processes that just to rip and burn? What other programs could I try? EasyDVDclone seems to be the same program with just a different name??

I have 3ghz PC, 1024Ram, and about 10gb free space.

Please post what guide you used.

Here's a pretty good guide:

10gb free? Wow, why is your computer so full? With all your other specs I would think you would have more free space. Try freeing up some space and defragmenting your drive. This should be done frequently anyways. I would recommend you free up at least 12gb.

Are you multitasking while encoding? That can cause issues.

Hi thanks for your response. I didn't use a guide, I used the quick start guide in DVD shrink:

Welcome to the Getting Started Guide for Easy DVD Shrink!

Here are the tips to successfully copy your DVDs:
· Ensure the DVD you wish to copy is clean (no finger prints) and not scratched.

· Use high quality recordable DVD disc like Verbatim, Sony, Fuji, etc. Avoid using cheap discs. Always refer to the DVD writer manufacturer for the list of recommended discs for your DVD writer drive.

· Ensure you have sufficient hard-disk space (at least 4.3 GB).

· If you are using external USB DVD drive, please make sure it is connected to the computer directly without using USB hub.

· Read through this Getting Started Guide.

· If you encounter any errors when copying or burning, please refer to our FAQ page.

How to copy a DVD movie?

1. If you are copying from a DVD disc, remember to insert your DVD movie into the DVD drive before starting up "Easy DVD Shrink".
Note: Some DVD player software automatically start up when a DVD is inserted. Please make sure that you closed the DVD player before starting copy.

2. Click the "Browse DVD" button to choose the DVD drive or hard drive folder that contains the DVD movie files.

3. Choose the destination for your DVD copy: "DVD Disc" or "Hard Drive".

4. Choose a DVD burner drive where you wish to burn the copied DVD files and then insert a blank DVD disc into the chosen burner drive (Skip this step if you have chosen "Hard Drive" in step 3).
Settings - Click this button to enter the disc label, choose the burning speed, and enable the "Eject After Burn" option. (Optional)

Erase Disc - Click this button to erase your DVD+/-RW. (Optional)

Note: If you only have one DVD drive, you'll be prompted to remove the original DVD once it's been copied, and insert a recordable DVD disc when it's time to burn. If you have a reader and a burner, you can put the DVD movie in the reader and a blank DVD disc in the burner and complete the entire process in one step.

5. Click the "Browse" button to choose the path on your hard drive for storing the copied DVD files.
Note: Because a large amount of storage is necessary to complete a copy, the path location must have sufficient hard-disk space.

Note: The copied DVD files can be played using DVD player software, such as PowerDVD and WinDVD.

6. Select the "Target Size" that defines the amount of data the DVD copy can contain:
DVD-5 - For 4.7GB, single layer DVD disc (Default)

DVD-9 - For 8.5GB, double layer DVD disc

Customize - You can freely adjust the target size.

* Burn existing DVD files to the disc directly option allows you to burn previously copied DVD files to the DVD disc without going through the copy (i.e. shrinking) process.

7. Click the "OK" button to enter your settings above. The left hand box will show the DVD structures of your movie.

8. Check that all settings are correct and then click the "Start" button to start copying your DVD!
Note: If you have selected "DVD Disc" as the target, burning will begin once the DVD movie has been completely copied to the temporary folder.

Tip: You can click the checkbox to disable the preview window, this can make the copy process run a bit faster.

If you encounter any errors when copying or burning, please refer to our FAQ page.

Yes, my computer is quite full. 120gb in size, lots of games and video files - most has nothing to do with piracy though.

I didn't do anything whilst it was ripping or burning, wasn't even at the computer.

I ripped the disk twice, first time I used some mediocre disks but decided to rip again and went with Taiyo Yuden disks but still very poor.

What is this guide you sent me? looks like it has nothing to do with DVD burning!

I didn't get an ISO from DVD shrink but a video_TS file. How do I get an ISO?

I didn't burn through DVD shrink, after the rip I went directly through NERO...

Okay, I guess easy dvdshrink is actually different than DvdShrink. I don't know much about easy dvdshrink, but can recommend the following:

1. Defrag your hard drive.
2. Try using a different burning method. I doubt easy DVD Shrink is going to be able to handle newer encrytions and doubt the quality is that of a lot of freeware available. Most people here use the following progs:

Freeware
DvdDecryptor
DvdFabDecryptor

Vob Blanker

DvdShrink
Nero Recode2

Nero Burning Rom

CHEAP but does cost
AnyDVD (the best decryption tool with lifetime updates)
Clonedvd2
DvdRebuilder (most will agree the best compression tool available)

There are a few other pay prog's, but I have never used them so I can't recommend them. I will let other's speak on them.

Personally I use this method quite often:

You can get all the software you need here:

However others may have better suggestions for your software.

Yes, I highly recommend any Alkohol guide. Very precise and to the point. Very well explained with pictures and almost always using just freeware.

Glad to hear that. There's pretty much a guide for everything here. Heck I try things just for kicks because I find a guide on how to do it. Alkohol and bbmayo have some of the best guides around.
