I have DVD Shrink with AnyDVD running, and for some reason I cannot burn a single DVD. I have tried using diffrent media Phillips, Maxwell, etc.... I have also downloaded Force ASPI because, when I ran Nerodrive speed it said ASPI is not installed. So after installation of Force ASPI Nero says ASPI is now installed and working correctly.
I am currently trying to copy Jarhead below I will list what the error message on Nero is, I have been trying to resolve this issue for over a week now, with no joy. Any help would be extremly appreciated.

Jangle,
Welcome to the forum. You really do not need an ASPI Layer if you are using XP and you are.
1. Physical memory : 382MB (392172kB)
Free physical memory: 70MB (72512kB)
Memory in use : 81 %
You need to free up the processes on the computer as there is hardly any memory left for the program to use
2. Last possible write address on media: 2295103 (510:01.28, 4482MB)
Last address to be written: 2286111 (508:01.36, 4465MB)
I would set the target size to 4350 so you do not go to close to the outer rim

You get the same conflicts again and again
Have you chaeked the cable and the usb2 port to verify they are in working order

Car.Mike,
Thanks for replying so soon. I know how to free up memory, what I don't understand is what you said about the conflict between the burner and the computer, I am using the standard USB cable that came with the case. Also I did not understand that the burner has a conflict with the media? Sorry I am some what new to this all, I have done some searching, in the archives, but there is soooo much info, I don't know where to start. I don't want to seem like an info moouch, but can you explain. Thanks

Also don't know if this is anything, but when I click on the icon in the lower right hand corner of the toolbar To Safely remove hardware, it says that a USB Mass Storage device is connected??? Isn't supposed to say it's a dvd drive?

The error you are getting is between the computer and the burner along w/ the blank media. What is the brand of blank media you are using because the burner does not like that brand.
External DVD player are mass storage devices

I am using Phillips Media, I have also used Maxwell with no joy. If this is anything, I used to have CloneDVD2, and it used to work fine, but all of a sudden quit working, that is why I switched to dvdshrink. I have made full copies in the past using maxwell media. How do I correct the problem between the computer and the burner?

The first error is the most telling, in this case you got this:
Sense Key: 0x05 (KEY_ILLEGAL_REQUEST)
Sense Code: 0x24
Sense Qual: 0x00
This is the Invalid Field in CDB error which is caused by a lack of data. (According to my error code chart) Checking your USB connection would be a good place to start.
I'd try to watch a movie with the burner as well. Try and see if data will pass back and forth. You could try burning a CD for example.
The error may be with your Nero installation.
Try running the Registry Checker and driver cleaner tool.
You can get these in the Nero toolkit from Nero or you can get it from my site:
http://www.dvdplusvideo.com/Nero%20Toolkit.zip
If the registry checker and driver cleaner don't help then I'd probably do a complete removal using the Nero Clean tool. Make sure you write down your Nero serial number. Then do a fresh install. I know you just installed it but something may have gone wrong during the install.
Speaking of your Nero serial number, you have 4 of them listed at the top of your log:
5C80-.....
5C02-.....
0010-.....
5C00-.....
You should edit them out of your post.

At some point you may want to consider an internal burner. DVD-Video work is some of the most intense work your computer can do. Forcing data through a USB port just seems like asking for trouble. Lots of folks do it though.

Ok, I just watched a clips of jarhead through the drive right now, it looks good to go. I will try to uninstall Nero and clean up the registry and see if that works, any other suggestions?

Can you borrow some Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden blank media from a friend. If so try the burn using that blank media. Do you have another USB 2.0 cable. If so swap out the cable from the computer to the burner. If it still does it w/ those corrections then take the burner to a friends house and try to do a movie there. If you get the same error codes there then it is more likely the burner has gone bad and I hope it is under warranty

Well, I think car.mike was right on about the memory, the DVDs and everything else. At this point, before you make a trip, you could just try and free up as much memory as possible.
That means shutting down your internet connection, screen saver and anything else that may be running in the background.
Open your task manager > processes and click on "User Name". You can disable everything but explorer.exe and taskmgr.exe. Leave LOCAL SERVICE and SYSTEM processes alone. Once thats done open your programs. If you disable something vital then you will have to re-boot and start over.
The last thing I'd do is the Nero re-install.

Quote: The last thing I'd do is the Nero re-install.
I agree. The error message you are getting suggests more of a hardware issue than software:
Quote: 6:23:29 PM #27 CDR -600 File Writer.cpp, Line 302
Device not available
E: _NEC DVD_RW ND-3550A
Sense Key: 0x00 (KEY_NO_SENSE)
"device not available" probably the device has spun down for some
reason, could also be that your power supply may be not enough for the drive. Like you were suggested, try to see if you have any loose connections, cables.
You could use a different burning software to make sure nero is not the problem.
Piss me off, and I Will ignore You!
