theres a tute.

Do u know how to use UMDemulator, or load homebrew eg Snes, Genesis?

The thing is, to play those games , it wants you to upgrade the firmware, the highest firmware you should upgrade to is 2.0
any higher eg 2.01 and you cant downgrade back to 1.5
1.5 is preferred it will play your backup isos, and load almost all homebrew.

That link wont really help u if you dont know how to use UMD emulator.

If the UMD game is asking you to update to 2.0 to play the game, do
it, if its anything higher then 2.0 eg 2.01 or 2.5 DONT DO IT. Like i said 2.0 is fine as it can be downgraded. Once your at 2.0 try the games out and see if they all work.
Then when your at 2.0 i can give you instructions to go back down to 1.5 when you need to do so.

No need to google for a tutorial. I will help you sweetheart.
First of all you will need this file
http://www.psp-hacks.com/download.php?id=92
That file is Umdemulator. It must be used in conjunction with MPH.
Here is MPH
http://www.psp-hacks.com/download.php?id=348

So gilly
You open open up umdemulator.
Take the folder that says UMDemulator and but it in your Main PSP directory(Along side the PsP folder)
The other two folders(UMDE1~1,UMDE), go in the PSP/Game Folder

You then open up MPH
Take the folder that says MPH GameLoader and place in your main directory.(along side UMDEMULATOR and the PSP folder)
The other two files(MPHG, MPHG1~1) go in the PSP/Game Folder (alongside UMDE1~1 and UMDE folder)

When playing most games that are on the dvd you will be able to use umdeumlator on its normal settings.
When the circumstance arrives for certain games however, You will need to do the following.
Set emulation mode in UMDemulator to system menu
Click on the game you want to play.
It is going to take you back out to the screen with the wiggly lines.
You go back into games and you press MPH gameloader and the game will run.

That is your tut gilly. You and your son should be able to take advantage of your 1.5 now.

im pretty sure that he/she doesnt have any backup isos to load.

From what ive heard all the games are only on UMD.

I would upgrade first, and then when you find out more info on backup isos and such, then downgrade back to 1.5.

REMEMBER 2.0 ONLY NO HIGHER

What are you upgrading to? Becareful upgrading to 2.01 or higher is irreversible and your son will not be able to play any of the games on the dvds

Did you try installing the emulators?
It may seem complex at first but if you follow step by step which we will help you with you will be fine.

Phew! No you didn't harm your psp. However if you want to play any of the games on the dvds, you will have to go through another step to play the games. For now you can still install the emulators but you will not be able to use them yet. DO NOT UPGRADE ANY FURTHER. If you do it will be irreversible like stated before. But for the time being your son will be able to play some games.
To play the games on dvd you will need to downgrade your psp to a 1.5 by the way.

Put a umd in, if its version 2.00 it should play the game

Gilly like I said since you upgraded you can install the emulators but you will not be able to play any of the 50 games on the cds yet. You can just install those files just to nip that in the butt. However once you are ready to start playing any of those games you are going to have to downgrade your psp.
The downgrade(which is only availible for version 2.00) i don't have the link off hand but whenever you or your son is ready to do it, i could fetch it for ya.
After you downgrade it will be a simple click drag and drop to play the games on the cds.

i dont know what green screen your talking about?

Green Screen?

No writing?
If you have no writing and just a X - or O
Go to Settings menu - system settings - restore default settings - X

Otherwise the update should be in your game menu - under UMD it should say update 2.0

yeap Joevas right, but its better to get it out of the way you gotta learn to do it, as its what i have to do as well. To play my UMDs i have to upgrade to 2.0 and when im bored i want to play homebrew, i downgrade back to 1.5

let me ask you a question first, do you want to play the games on your cds? or the umds? or both? actually that was a silly question ofcourse youd want both lol

Yeah do the update and try the UMDS
To update
Put in a UMD game eg GTA liberty city
Now go to the Game menu in your psp
press X
now you should find a UMD icon with SYSTEM SOFTWARE or (UPDATE) 2.0

cut the umd part out as its already on your psp.
It doesnt sound like you are going to need hookboot but you can just leave it there.
put the mph in there
remember MPH Game loader goes in the root folder next to umdemulater and psp and mp_root.
And for the other ones, you go to psp/game and you drop the mpgh1 and mpgh1~1 folder in there...

Sorry but I gotta get a few hours of sleep before work. I will be around to help in about 5 hours but you are in good hands here, the other guys should be able to help you

Her system is already 2.0 piece lol.

To play a game from a cd here is what you do.
Put the cd in and open its contents. You are going to see that the games will say XXXX.iso this is normal. LIke for instance you might see Ms Pac Man.iso
Create a folder in the main directory(next to psp, mp_root and call it ISO
take the games from the cd and drop them in the ISO folder
THATS IT!!!

Now turn on your psp, go to game and you are going to see a yellow face with a wickid smile and it says UMD Emulator. Click this and then press down and select the iso you want to play and press x.
And voila.

Note: If your psp is a version 2.00 it will give you an error when you try and play any games that arent umds, you will need to downgrade to play these games

Goodnight sweety, you're a good mother, and probably an even better wife. Have a good one.

If you want to play umds just pop them in. If you are at system 2.00 you should be fine to play the umds.
You only have to downgrade to play the games that are on the cds.
