Well finaly some information has been released on the PS3 after a very long wait. As expected Sony has given us only a small piece of information on the PS3, but on the 22nd of this month more information will come along, with the final finishing touches at E3.
With the information Sony has given us so far, they described briefly about their online service currently called 'Playstation Network Platform' to compete with Xbox LIVE. Some people before complained about having to pay for Xbox LIVE however it has come into light that the consumer will also have to pay for Sony's online service just as I predicted. To give a high quality service cost's money for the employee's, development tools, offices, etc so it was only too obvious Sony would charge as well. But like Microsoft Sony will give consumers a basic online service for free.
There seemed to be a big copy of LIVE with many of the same features although there was no mention of a LIVE Arcade which could give Microsoft a one up on Sony.
Until Sony gives more information I think its likely to say they will copy Xbox Live but I believe Xbox Live will be better becuase of Microsofts power and experiance they have with the internet.

Very true, thats exactly what I was saying, in order for there to be a service there has to be a cost so those who weren't fanboys realised that for ps3 to have an online service charges would follow. pretty obvious really. As for how good it will be based on microsofts net gaming experience and from the fact that there may be no live arcade I would have to agree that I think the m$ live service will outperform sony's. However we shall see.

well there is already a fanbase for xbl and when it comes to xbl lagging, well that depends on the game developer, i mean look at halo 2, it had so many people playing on it similtainiously but it never lagged in the 12 mounths that i played constantly. but cod 2 laggs, what can i say except, at least patches are being made.

i dont think XBOX LIVE arcade give MS a one up on anything, do you own a 360? i'm assuming you dont because the LIVE arcade is a colossal waste of time!!
Would you rater "Bankshot Billiards" or Batllefield 2? "Crystal Quest" or Call Of Duty 2? "Geometry Wars" of GUN? whats the point of buying a $400 dollar next-gen, high-def console if you want to play crappy 80's style arcade games.
I dont know about you but when i heard about it i was stoked to play Joust in HD!! the graphics are amazing!!

Live Arcade is a big factor. What would you have a console with all new cool games or a console with all new games plus old classiscs like Street Fighter and Mortal combat?
Think about it.

Its true live is a nice touch, like rabbity say's you'd be stupid to buy a 360 because of it but it does provide some old classics for online play which, sometimes, I just want to go back and play.

hmm, when one first enters a new online market, they try to watch as much as possible to hopefully gain some idea of what to do and how to do things. this is the situation with sony and its PS3 online.
Don't judge the consoles by specs, more isnt always better, espec in PS3 specs.i know the truth, ask if u wanna know.......
Do not compete without valid correct technicality on your terms of the argument.

im huge sony fanboy,i would root for ps3 online 100%.xbox live was a huge sucsess for microsoft and the owners were pleased by the Quailty and such, but if some thing ,but if an online service thats much better, (that may even include much more features the xbox live) comes out for a system thats much more hi-tech,better graphics, and that beats any other sytem in any way (wich is the ps3) i would just be really amazed.
DISTURBING THE PEACE SINCE - uhh.. i made an account?

First off Sony havent mentioned much of their online service but I cant see it being as good as Microsofts. Also 360's is also free just like PS3's but Sony do give you a good deal with free online play where Microsoft dont, but considering Sony is copying off Microsoft I can see Microsoft copying off Sony to have free online gameplay aswell.
So if you want to play demo's, download games, movies etc you will have to pay for PS3's online just like you do with Microsoft.

No its true. LIVE sucks. Sony decided to get rid of their brilliant system that you have played Socom on and replace it with a system exactly like xbox 360 LIVE. What ideot's.
Where do you PS3 fanboys come from? Company's copy good ideas off one another, if Xbox LIVE sucks then why are Sony producing somthing with the same blue print?

Its not called copy.
Its called progression.
and just cause it has the same blueprint doesnt make it the same.
Alot of progression can be made from a blueprint.

man you guys are trying too hard. lets think about this, and try to stop saying so and so COPIED someone else. in case you havnt realized most everything today is derived from something else. like joeva said its Progression.
basically the norm for gaming back in the day was just that...Gaming. then there were such innovative consoles that tried to expand the market a bit. sony for one offered a cd/dvd player, backwards capabilities with there ps2, so you mean to tell me that M$ copied them with that idear??? if so who the heck cares anyway..its mostly for the better.
basically my point is, come some point in time the so called "norm" will change. gaming consoles used to be just that, now there multimedia machines. online gaming was new and "live" became a success and is now thought to be the benchmark of online gaming. face the facts most every corporation out there copied someone else in some way or another...think about all the "different" kinds of V6 engines, cars, fast food stores, supermarkets, walmarts, target and so on that are soooo similar, they are all pretty much one in the same, but each adds their own little twist...M$ does deserve credit for lives success and its future impact on gaming, but stop this flaming bit of "coping" because they all do it, sony, M$, ford, dodge, buggerKing,mcDonalds,kMart, target.....

hade is right, almost nothing is completely original these days. I haven't tried XBOX live yet, but I'm pretty satisfied with the PS2's free online service. I believe that if sony can offer a free basic service that allows online gaming gamers around the globe should be happy.

No you guys, you get me wrong.
My argument is not who copied who. my argument is that xbox360 LIVE is very good. If it wasnt then Sony wouldnt have copied Microsoft.
Just like Nintendo inventing the analog stick, if it wasnt good then Sony and Microsoft wouldnt have copied Nintendo.

Quote: Just like Nintendo inventing the analog stick
I remember that Sega offered a controller with an analog stick with Night Into Dreams for the Saturn. Since both Nights' and the N64 were released around mid 1996 I guess it's hardly a fact that Nintendo was the first with the analog stick idea. I get your point though.

I dont know how old you are and I dont want an argument on who invented the analog stick first but Nintendo where the first to come out with it. Sega copied the idea shortly after and releasing it as a package with Nights becuase that was the first game to take advantage of it.
I remember those days to well, with th big black Saturn and the new release of a mysterious console called 'Playstation'.

If you guys think XBL sucks, then what the hell are you expecting from Sony's online service?? Sony will have to put in a lot of work just to get there online service to XBL standards.
As for lag, the COD2 patch is out and it lags no longer. GRAW is great, and it doesn't lag. Fight Night is loads of fun online - doesn't lag. You can also d/l trailers/demo's.
This is great for trying a game before you rake the cash out. For example, The Outfit demmo sucks, meaning I dont need to waste £50 to find that out. (Watch this - I just gave fanboys material, I bet a thread now pops up - OMFG look @ Outfit it's not next gen!)
For those still in doubt of the 360's power, play Oblivion, walk up to a wall, look closely, closer - yup next gen.
Did I mention the Live Arcade? There is a couple of impressive games in there. Try Marble Blast Ultra. It's simple to play, but is so much fun.
I want a PS3, as much as the next fool, but there's no argument XBL is a great service and 360 is next-gen. End of story.
